Zusammenfassung Die Gerinnungsaktivitäten von Extrakten aus 10 Tage alten Erythrocyten unterscheiden sich nicht signifikant von denen aus frischen Erythrocyten. Durch mehrfache Extraktion mit Äther und Chloroform können nahezu alle thromboplastischen Substanzen der Erythrocyten extrahiert werden; die nach Extraktion verbleibenden Substanzen verlängern die Gerinnungszeiten von recalcifiziertem Citratplasma. Nach Zugabe der thromboplastischen Substanzen zu plättchenreichem Normalplasma bilden sich Zeichen eines Thromboplastinüberschusses aus, die durch einen frühzeitigen Plättchenzerfall erklärt wurden; dabei wird der Thromboplastinüberschuß durch die mit Fettlösungsmitteln extrahierten Fraktionen deutlicher.

Summary Earlier results on the coagulation activity contained in human red blood cells are confirmed and further experiments are reported. The thromboplastic activity of red cells, that have been stored for 10 days, does not differ significantly from that of fresh erythrocytes. It is possible to extract nearly all the thromboplastic activity of the red cells with ether and chloroform; the remaining substances have a prolonging effect on the coagulation time of recalcified plasma. When added to platelet-rich normal plasma these thromboplastic substances seem to induce the formation of an excess quantity of thromboplastin; the explanation for this phenomenon seems to ly in the premature destruction of platelets. It is even more marked when lipid fractions are added.
