    Abstract: The recovery of hand function is one of the most challenging topics in stroke rehabilitation. Although the robot-assisted therapy has got some good results in the latest decades, the development of hand rehabilitation robotics is left behind. Existing reviews of hand rehabilitation robotics focus either on the mechanical design on designers’ view or on the training paradigms on the clinicians’ view, while these two parts are interconnected and both important for designers and clinicians. In this review, we explore the current literature surrounding hand rehabilitation robots, to help designers make better choices among varied components and thus promoting the application of hand rehabilitation robots. An overview of hand rehabilitation robotics is provided in this paper firstly, to give a general view of the relationship between subjects, rehabilitation theories, hand rehabilitation robots, and its evaluation. Secondly, the state of the art hand rehabilitation robotics is introduced in detail according to the classification of the hardware system and the training paradigm. As a result, the discussion gives available arguments behind the classification and comprehensive overview of hand rehabilitation robotics.

    Abstract: The reduction of pulmonary surfactant (PS) is essential for decreased pulmonary compliance and edema in acute lung injury (ALI). Thyroid transcription factor-1 (TTF-1) plays a major role in the regulation of surfactant protein-A (SP-A), the most abundant protein component of PS. Simultaneously, the glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) analogue can enhance SP-A expression in the lung. However, the underlying mechanism is still unknown. The purpose of this study was to explore whether liraglutide, a GLP-1 analogue, upregulates SP-A expression through the TTF-1 signaling pathway in ALI. In vivo, a murine model of ALI was induced by lipopolysaccharide (LPS). Pulmonary inflammation, edema, insulin level, ultrastructural changes in type II alveolar epithelial (ATII) cells, and SP-A and TTF-1 expression were analyzed. In vitro, rat ATII cells were obtained. SP-A and TTF-1 expression in cells was measured. ShRNA-TTF-1 transfection was performed to knock down TTF-1 expression. Our data showed that LPS-induced lung injury and increase in insulin level, and LPS-induced reduction of SP-A and TTF-1 expression in both the lung and cells, were significantly compromised by liraglutide. Furthermore, we also found that these effects of liraglutide were markedly blunted by shRNA-TTF-1. Taken together, our findings suggest that liraglutide enhances SP-A expression in ATII cells and attenuates pulmonary inflammation in LPS-induced ALI, most likely through the TTF-1 signaling pathway.

    Abstract: With the increase in the elderly, stroke has become a common disease, often leading to motor dysfunction and even permanent disability. Lower-limb rehabilitation robots can help patients to carry out reasonable and effective training to improve the motor function of paralyzed extremity. In this paper, the developments of lower-limb rehabilitation robots in the past decades are reviewed. Specifically, we provide a classification, a comparison, and a design overview of the driving modes, training paradigm, and control strategy of the lower-limb rehabilitation robots in the reviewed literature. A brief review on the gait detection technology of lower-limb rehabilitation robots is also presented. Finally, we discuss the future directions of the lower-limb rehabilitation robots.

    Abstract: Purpose . Colon adenocarcinoma (COAD) is the third most common malignancy globally and is further categorized as left colon adenocarcinoma (LCOAD) or right colon adenocarcinoma (RCOAD) depending on the location of the primary tumor. The therapeutic outcome and long-term prognosis for patients with COAD are less than satisfactory, and this may be associated with tumor location. Therefore, it is important to investigate the genetic differences in COAD at different sites. Patients and Methods . Public data associated with COAD were downloaded from the Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) database. Differentially expressed genes (DEGs) were identified using R software (version 3.5.3), and functional annotation of DEGs was performed using Gene Ontology (GO) and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) analyses. A protein-protein interaction network was constructed, hub genes were identified and analyzed, and data mining using Gene Expression Profiling Interactive Analysis (GEPIA) was conducted. Results . A total of 286 DEGs were identified between LCOAD and RCOAD. Additionally, 10 hub genes associated with COAD at different locations were screened, namely, CDKN2A, IGF1R, MDM2, SMAD3, SLC2A1, GRM5, PLCB4, FGFR1, UBE2V2, and TNFRSF10B. The expression of cyclin-dependent kinase inhibitor 2A (CDKN2A) and solute carrier family 2 member 1 (SLC2A1) was significantly associated with pathological stage P 〈 0.05 . COAD patients with high expression levels of CDKN2A exhibited poorer overall survival (OS) times than those with low expression levels P 〈 0.05 . Conclusion . CDKN2A expression was significantly different between LCOAD and RCOAD and was closely related to the prognosis of COAD. It is of great value for further understanding of the pathogenesis of LCOAD and RCOAD.
