Abstract:
This study demonstrates that nitrate improves Al resistance conservatively in maize and Arabidopsis by regulating the production and exudation of citrate, thereby promoting Al exclusion from roots. Maize ZmSLAH2 and Arabidopsis AtSLAH1 may play critical roles in this process. These findings provide new insights into understanding of the essential function of nitrate‐mediated signalling in plant Al resistance and offer guidance for soil fertilization in acidic environments.
