Abstract: This study shows that the hard-to-remove rust layer on the guide sleeve surface of a used cylinder can be removed using a specially developed, environmentally friendly formula for cleaning rust. Furthermore, we studied the rust removal technology that is based on ultrasonic cavitation and chemical etching. The surface morphology and structural components of the rust layer were observed using an electron microscope and an X-ray powder diffractometer. These tools were used to explore the mechanism of combined rust removal. Using response surface methodology (RSM) and central composite design (CCD), with the rust removal rate as our index of evaluation, data were analyzed to establish a response surface model that can determine the effect of cleaning temperature and ultrasonic power interaction on the rate of rust removal. Results showed that the main components of the rust layer on a 45 steel guide sleeve were α-FeOOH, γ-FeOOH, and Fe3O4. The rust was unevenly distributed with a loose structure, which was easily corroded by chemical reagents and peeled off under ultrasonic cavitation. With the increase in the cleaning temperature, the chemical reaction effect was intensified, and the cleaning ability was enhanced. With the increase in ultrasonic power, the cavitation effect was aggravated, the ultrasonic agitation was enhanced, and the rust removal rate was improved. According to response surface analysis and the application scope of the rust remover, we determined that the optimal cleaning temperature is 55 °C, and that the optimal ultrasonic power is 2880 W. The descaling rate under these parameters is 0.15 g·min−1·m−2.

Abstract: In acute myocardial infarction (AMI), endothelial progenitor cells (EPCs) are essential for the recovery of collateral circulation via angiogenesis. Clinical research has shown that the poor prognosis of the patients with AMI is closely associated with the cell quantity and function of EPCs. Whether there are differences in the biological features of EPCs from AMI patients and healthy subjects is worth exploring. In this study, EPCs were isolated from human peripheral blood and identified as late-stage EPCs by flow cytometry, immunofluorescence, and blood vessel formation assay. Compared to healthy subjects, AMI patients had more EPCs in the peripheral blood compared to healthy subjects. In addition, EPCs from AMI patients exhibited higher migration ability in the transwell assay compared to EPCs from healthy subjects. However, no difference in the angiogenesis of EPCs was observed between AMI patients and healthy subjects. Further studies revealed that soluble vascular endothelial growth factor receptor 1 (sFlt-1) in the serum of AMI patients was involved in the inhibition of EPCs angiogenesis by suppressing the Akt and Erk pathways. In conclusion, this study demonstrated that elevated serum sFlt-1 inhibits angiogenesis of EPC in AMI patients. Our findings uncover a pathogenic role of sFlt-1 in AMI.

Abstract: Formaldehyde (HCHO) is a tracer of volatile organic compounds (VOCs), and its concentration has gradually decreased with the reduction in VOC emissions in recent years, which puts forward higher requirements for the detection of trace HCHO. Therefore, a quantum cascade laser (QCL) with a central excitation wavelength of 5.68 μm was applied to detect the trace HCHO under an effective absorption optical pathlength of 67 m. An improved, dual-incidence multi-pass cell, with a simple structure and easy adjustment, was designed to further improve the absorption optical pathlength of the gas. The instrument detection sensitivity of 28 pptv (1σ) was achieved within a 40 s response time. The experimental results show that the developed HCHO detection system is almost unaffected by the cross interference of common atmospheric gases and the change of ambient humidity. Additionally, the instrument was successfully deployed in a field campaign, and it delivered results that correlated well with those of a commercial instrument based on continuous wave cavity ring-down spectroscopy (R2 = 0.967), which indicates that the instrument has a good ability to monitor ambient trace HCHO in unattended continuous operation for long periods of time.

Abstract: According to the United Nations report, climate disasters have intensified in the past 20 years, and China has the largest number of disasters in the world. So the study of meteorological disaster governance capacities is critically important for China. We designed a meteorological disaster governance capacity evaluation system to calculate the evaluation values by using the generalized λ-Shapley Choquet integral, a method that considers the interaction between indicators. We used various official statistical yearbooks and internal data of China Meteorological Administration (CMA) and weight intervals set by meteorologists for each level of indicators to calculate the evaluation values of meteorological disaster governance capacity in mainland provinces, from 2014 to 2018. We compared them with other methods (entropy weight method, Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to an Ideal Solution (TOPSIS), and Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP)), and the results showed that the results calculated by the designed interaction method provided in this paper are more stable and differentiated. The results show that provincial meteorological disaster governance capacities in Mainland China are characterized by uneven development and a pro-slight polarization phenomenon. This leads to policy recommendations: Provinces should strengthen the construction of meteorological disaster information; provinces with outstanding capacity must strengthen the experience sharing with provinces with lower capacity.

Abstract: In order to solve the problems of high energy consumption, complex process and low nitrogen removal efficiency in the currently available low carbon source wastewater treatment processes, a novel coagulation sedimentation/post-solid-phase denitrification biofilter process (CS-BAF-SPDB) was proposed. The effect of temperature on the nitrogen removal performance of BAF-SPDB was intensively studied, and the mechanism of the effect of temperature on nitrogen removal performance was analyzed from the perspective of microbial community structure by using the polymerase chain reaction denaturing gradient gel electrophoresis (PCR-DGGE). The results showed that, to realize favorable nitrifying and denitrifying performance simultaneously in the BAF-SPDB unit, the operation temperature should be set above 18 °C. In addition, the influence of the macro operation parameters on the performance of the BAF and SPDB has a direct relationship with the dynamic changes of the micro microbial community. The influence of temperature on nitrification performance in BAF was mainly embodied in the change of composition, amount and activity of ammonia oxidizing bacteria Candidatus Nitrospira defluvii and nitrite oxidizing bacteria Nitrosomonas sp. Nm47, while that on denitrification performance in SPDB is mainly embodied in the change of composition and amount of solid carbon substrate degrading denitrifying bacteria Pseudomonas sp., Myxobacterium AT3-03 and heterotrophic denitrifying bacteria Dechloromonas agitate, Thauera aminoaromatica, Comamonas granuli and Rubrivivax gelatinosus.

Abstract: The gun head is the end effector of the fire-fighting jet system. Compared with a traditional fixed gun head, an adaptive gun head has the advantages of having an adjustable nozzle opening, a wide applicable flow range, and a high fire-extinguishing efficiency. Thus, the adaptive gun head can extinguish large fires quickly and efficiently. The fire-fighting jet system with an adaptive gun head has fluid-structure interaction and discrete-continuous coupling characteristics, and the influence of key design parameters on its natural frequencies needs to be determined by a sensitivity analysis. In this paper, the dynamic model and equations of the jet system were established based on the lumped parameter method, and the sensitivity calculation formulas of the natural frequency of the jet system to typical design parameters were derived. Natural frequencies and mode shapes of the jet system were determined based on a mode analysis. The variation law of the sensitivity of the natural frequency of the jet system to typical design parameters was revealed by the sensitivity analysis. The results show that the fluid mass inside the spray core within a certain initial gas content is the most important factor affecting the natural frequency of the jet system. There was only a 0.51% error between the value of the first-order natural frequency of the jet system determined by the modal experiment and the theoretical one, showing that good agreement with the first-order natural frequency of the jet system was found. This paper provides a theoretical basis for the dynamic optimization design of the adaptive gun head of the fire water monitor.

Abstract: Based on the principles of nonlinear dynamics, a dynamic model of the jet system for adaptive fire-fighting monitors was established. The influence of nonlinear fluid spring force on the dynamic model was described by the Duffing equation. Results of numerical calculation indicate that the nonlinear action of the fluid spring force leads to the nonlinear dynamic behavior of the jet system and fluid gas content, fluid pressure, excitation frequency, and excitation amplitude are the key factors affecting the dynamics of the jet system. When the excitation frequency is close to the natural frequency of the corresponding linear dynamic system, a sudden change in vibration amplitude occurs. The designed adaptive fire-fighting monitor had no multi-cycle, bifurcation, or chaos in the range of design parameters, which was consistent with the stroboscopic sampling results in the dynamic experiment of jet system. This research can provide a basis for the dynamic design and optimization of the adaptive fire-fighting monitor, and similar equipment.

Abstract: In order to improve material service life under a fatigue and corrosion coupling environment, a high-velocity oxygen fuel (HVOF) Cr3C2–NiCr coating with a bonding layer was prepared. The objective was to obtain the optimum bonding layer for the HVOF Cr3C2–NiCr coating, which included a laser cladding (LC) Ni625 layer, extreme high-speed laser material deposition (EHLA) Ni625 layer and HVOF NiCr layer. Fatigue properties of the samples with various bonding layers were investigated by means of a four-point bending fatigue test. Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) and the salt spray test were executed after the bending fatigue test to simulate the interactive effect of fatigue and corrosion atmosphere. Failure surfaces were characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and an energy-dispersive spectrometer (EDS) to indicate the details of corrosion products. Corrosive behaviors of samples were adequately demonstrated according to the results, which included the curves of potentiostatic polarization, impedance magnitude and phase degree, and corrosion products. The result showed that the cycles of perforative cracking for the sample with the EHLA Ni625 bonding layer was almost three times than that of the sample with the HVOF NiCr layer. The magnitude of EIS reduced from ~105 to ~103 for the sample after BFT. Eventually, the main improvement mechanism of the HVOF Cr3C2–NiCr coating with the EHLA Ni625 bonding layer was attributed to the grain refinement of the bonding layer and performed a good level of metallurgical bonding with the substrate.

Abstract: As a new type of hydraulic system, the independent valve control system (IMCS) has higher flexibility compared with the traditional four-side slide valve control system. The independent metering control system (IMCS) is divided into four quadrant modes, based on the speed and load of the actuator. The traditional control methods always use a discrete control strategy to realize the switching between different modes based on mode recognition. However, the spool signals frequently switch, and the actuator operating pressure and speed are not stable when the IMCS is switched between different modes. To solve the above problems, this paper proposes a continuous control strategy for the IMCS. Based on the fuzzy control principle, the variable universe fuzzy controller (VUFC) was designed. The controller contains 49 fuzzy rules, and the output of the controller at any time is calculated by the weighted sum of several fuzzy rules. The VUFC divides the system into 49 rules, which are activated by multiple modes at any time to achieve a smooth transition between different modes. The VUFC was verified in a 37 ton excavator model and compared with the traditional independent metering meter-out (IM_MO) control strategy. The results showed that the VUFC significantly improved the frequent switching of the spool signals, and the running speed and pressure stability of the hydraulic cylinder were significantly improved. At the same time, the response speed of the hydraulic cylinder became faster at the start of the system. The VUFC can realize the continuous control of the IMCS and improve the operating performance of excavators.

Abstract: The pathogenesis of head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) is associated with human papillomavirus (HPV) infection. However, the molecular mechanisms underlying the interactions between HNSCC and HPV remain unclear. Bioinformatics was used to analyze the gene expression dataset of HPV-associated HNSCC based on the Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) database. Differentially expressed genes (DEGs) in HPV-positive and HPV-negative HNSCC were screened. Gene function enrichment, protein–protein interactions (PPI), survival analysis, and immune cell infiltration of DEGs were performed. Furthermore, the clinical data of HNSCC tissue samples were analyzed using immunohistochemistry. In total, 194 DEGs were identified. A PPI network was constructed and 10 hub genes (EREG, PLCG1, ERBB4, HBEGF, ZFP42, CBX6, NFKBIA, SOCS1, ATP2B2, and CEND1) were identified. Survival analysis indicated that low expression of SOCS1 was associated with worse overall survival. Immunohistochemistry demonstrated that SOCS1 expression was higher in HPV-negative HNSCC than in HPV-positive HNSCC, and there was a positive correlation between SOCS1 expression and patient survival. This study provides new information on biological targets that may be relevant to the molecular mechanisms underpinning the occurrence and development of HNSCC. SOCS1 may play an important role in the interaction between HPV and HNSCC and serve as a potential biomarker for future therapeutic targets.
