    Abstract: The role of the acupoint area collagen fibers in the efficacy of acupuncture lifting and thrusting (L & T) manipulation will be explored in this paper. 30 male NZW rabbits were randomly divided into 6 groups: sham operation group (Group N), model group (Group M), acupuncture without manipulation group (Group W), acupuncture L & T manipulation group (Group A), collagenase pretreatment group (Group JM), and collagenase pretreatment + acupuncture L & T manipulation group (Group JA). The bacterial endotoxin was used to generate the rabbit fever models. Acupuncture was applied at IL-11. The levels of IL-1 β , TNF- α , and IL-4 and the rectal temperature were measured at 2 h, 4 h, and 6 h after modeling and the collagen fiber morphology at acupoint area was observed after 6 hours. Results. As compared with Group N, the levels of IL-1 β and TNF- α in Group M were significantly higher; the level of IL-4 was significantly lower ( P 〈 0.05 ). As compared with Group M, IL-1 β and TNF- α in Groups W and A were significantly lower and IL-4 was significantly higher ( P 〈 0.05 ). As compared with Group W, IL-1 β and TNF- α in Group A were lower and IL-4 was higher ( P 〈 0.05 ). The collagen fiber in Group A was slightly rough, distorted, and fractured. As shown in studies, the endotoxin-induced inflammatory response can be significantly inhibited by acupuncture whose efficacy can also be significantly improved by the manipulations. Collagenase pretreatment may be the first receptor to the mechanical force of the L & T manipulation.

    Abstract: Objective. To analyse the operational stability of basic acupuncture manipulation (AM) based on three-dimensional (3D) motion tracking. Method. Two quantitative indicators (spatial and temporal dispersions) and corresponding algorithms of operation stability were established based on the coordinate-time data derived from 3D motion tracking of basic AM. The differences in stability were compared between 20 acupuncture teachers and 20 acupuncture students. Results. The teachers and students had similar temporal stability, but the teachers were more stable in their spatial control, perhaps because of the teachers’ better fingertip force and more practice with feedback. Conclusion. The spatial and temporal dispersions can be used to evaluate operational stability in basic AM. Repetitive training and finger force enhancement with more accurate feedback and rhythmic auditory stimulation are recommended for improving operation stability in basic AM.

    Abstract: Background. Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is a disease characterized by the production of a large number of autoantibodies. Defected phagocytosis of macrophage plays an important role in innate immunity in the pathogenesis of SLE. Tyro3 is a receptor responsible for the recognition of apoptotic cells during efferocytosis by macrophages. To investigate the role of Tyro3 receptor in macrophages’ efferocytosis of apoptotic cells in SLE, we aimed to reveal the clinical relevance and impact of Tyro3 autoantibody on SLE. Methods. The serum levels of IgG-type autoantibody against Tyro3 receptor were detected in new-onset, treatment-naïve SLE patients ( n = 70 ), rheumatoid arthritis (RA) ( n = 24 ), primary Sjögren’s Syndrome (pSS) ( n = 21 ), and healthy controls (HCs) ( n = 70 ) using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). The effects of purified Tyro3 autoantibody from SLE patients on the efferocytosis of human monocyte-derived macrophages were measured by flow cytometry and immunofluorescence. Results. The serum levels of IgG-type autoantibody against Tyro3 receptor were significantly elevated in patients with SLE compared to RA, pSS, and HCs (all p 〈 0.0001 ). The levels of anti-Tyro3 IgG were positively associated with the SLE disease activity index (SLEDAI) score ( r = 0.254 , p = 0.034 ), erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR) ( r = 0.430 , p 〈 0.001 ), C-reactive protein (CRP) ( r = 0.246 , p = 0.049 ), and immunoglobulin G (IgG) ( r = 0.408 , p = 0.001 ) and negatively associated with haemoglobin (Hb) ( r = − 0.294 , p = 0.014 ). ROC curves illustrated that the anti-Tyro3 antibody could differentiate patients with SLE from HCs. Furthermore, flow cytometry and immunofluorescence demonstrated that purified anti-Tyro3 IgG inhibited the efferocytosis of macrophages ( p = 0.004 and 0.044, respectively) compared with unconjugated human IgG. Conclusions. These observations indicated that autoantibody against Tyro3 was associated with disease activity and could impair efferocytosis of macrophages. It might be a potential novel disease biomarker and might be involved in the pathogenesis of SLE.

    Abstract: The orthotropic membrane structures have been popular in architectural structures. However, because of its lightweight and small stiffness, large nonlinear deflection vibration may occur under impact load, which leads to structural failure. In this paper, the governing equations of the large deflection nonlinear damped vibration of orthotropic saddle membrane structures excited by hailstone impact load are proposed according to the von Kármán’s large deflection theory and solved by applying the Bubnov–Galerkin method and the method of KBM perturbation. The approximate theoretical solution of the frequency function and displacement function of the large deflection nonlinear damped vibration of saddle membrane structures with four edges fixed excited by hailstone impact was obtained. The analytical examples proved that the mode shape function (equation (43)) can be applied to calculate the single-order mode shapes and the total superposed mode shapes of the damped large nonlinear deflection vibration of orthotropic saddle membrane structures excited by hailstone impact load succinctly. In addition, we compare and analyze the results of vibration frequency, amplitude, time histories, and total displacement of membrane structures with different pretensions and arch-to-span ratios under the impact of differently sized hailstones. The correctness of the analytical theory is verified by comparing with the results of numerical simulation. According to the results of this paper, we put forward some suggestions for the vibration control and dynamic design of practical spatial membrane structures.
