Abstract:
TiAl intermetallic alloys are being developed as potential materials for applications in aerospace and automotive industries, and also for chemical and biomedical applications, because of their excellent chemical and physical properties such as low density, high modulus and corrosion resistance at high temperatures. The thermophysical properties (electrical conductivity, thermoelectric power and thermal conductivity) of the solid and liquid intermetallic alloy Ti 40 Al 60 have been measured during melting and solidification processes in order to supply necessary information for crystal growth and casting processes. Good reproducibility of the results has been obtained.
