Abstract: The research aims at studying the influence of pistia powder (Pistia stratiotes L.) as feed material on the performance index and red blood cell profile of male Magelang duck. The materials used were 100 heads of 4-week old male Magelang duck. The treatments were: T0 (basal), pistia powder in T1, T2 and T3 of ration for male Magelang duck at 6%, 12% and 18%. The parameters observed were Performance Index (PI), number of erythrocytes, amount of hemoglobin, hematocrit level, MCV (Mean Corpuscular Volume), MCH (Mean Corpuscular Hemoglobin) and MCHC (Mean Corpuscular Hemoglobin Concentration). The research results showed that using pistia powder up to 18% significantly (P≤0.05) increased performance index (PI) and generally insignificantly (P 〉 0.05) influenced the number of erythrocytes, amount of hemoglobin, hematocrit level, MCV and MCHC, but significantly decreased (P 〈 0.05) MCH. The research concludes that pistia powder may be used up to 18% in ration to increase the performance index without influencing the red blood cell profile of male Magelang duck.

Abstract: This research aims to determine the performance and income of a closed-house broiler farm with partnership business model. The research was conducted in a closed broiler house owned by Faculty of Animal and Agricultural Sciences, Diponegoro University, Semarang, and in a partnership with Cemerlang Unggas Lestari Ltd. A total of 11,000 broilers were raised for each raising period in the closed broiler house. A case study method was used for this research. The data were collected using survey method; the primary data were collected directly through interviews with the farm operators and field observation. Secondary data were collected through data recording which includes production cost and obtained revenue in each raising period. The collected data were then analyzed through quantitative-descriptive study. A total 7 raising periods of production cost, revenue, and income in a year were analyzed. The results of this study showed that the average performances of closed-house broiler farm yield 0.37% depletion, 1.49 FCR, and 398.46 PI. The economic indicators showed that the average production cost was Rp292,668,800.00; which generated Rp327,300,779.00 revenue, Rp34,631,978.00 income, Rp183.055.535.00 NPV, and 1.24 BCR. The study concluded that the closed-house broiler farm generates higher income compared with the open house system.

Abstract: This study was conducted to determine the economic analysis, performance analysis and chemical quality of the meat of the utilization of pistia stratiotes (PS) in Magelang duck feed. Most duck feed is still very dependent on imports from other countries so there is a need to find alternative feedstuff that are not competing with humans. The experimental research was conducted at the Faculty of Animal Husbandry and Agriculture Undip using 4 treatments, namely T0 duck feed without the addition of PS in feed, T1 added 6% PS in feed, T2 added 12% PS in feed and T3 added 18% PS in duck feed. Parameters observed were final body weight, feed consumption, Feed Conversion Ratio (FCR), mortality, cholesterol, triglycerides, LDL, HDL, antioxidants, feed costs, income over feed costs, return on investment (ROI) and RC ratio. Feed consumption on T3 was the highest. Final body weight on T3 was not significantly different (P 〉 0.05) compared to T1 and T2 but higher than T0 (P 〈 0.05). The FCR between T3, T2 and T1 was not significantly different (P 〉 0.05), but was lower than T0, duck mortality in this study 0. Blood chemistry analysis (cholesterol, triglycerides, LDL, HDL) showed that T2 and T3 were significantly better than T0 and T1. The results of the economic analysis showed that ducks given PS at T2 and T3 had significant lower feed costs compared to T0 and T1, while ROI from T1, T2 and T3 were significantly higher than T0. The highest IOFC was achieved when duck were fed (T2), while the lowest IOFC was at T0. R/C ratio of T1, T2 and T3 was not significantly different, but higher when compared to T0. Based on the results of technical and economic analysis, the use of PS in 12% duck feed gave the best result of technical and economic performance

Abstract: Aim of the study was to compare economic analysis of broiler chicken was reared in closed house cage and broiler chicken was reared in open house cage. The study of closed house cage was conducted in Closed House cage owned by Faculty of Animal and agricultural sciences Diponegoro University which has 22,000 heads of broiler chicken this cage was given by Charoen Pokphand Indonesia Ltd, Operasionalized of this cage collaborated with Cemerlang Unggas Lestari Ltd, wherever the study of open house cage was conducted in farmer cage Gunungpati subdistrict, Semarang Regency. Parameters which observed were FCR, mortality rate, length rearing period, live final weight, IP, revenue, production cost, BEP and income. Broiler farmer in Gunungpati reared 5,000-15,000 heads of broiler on average. Broiler chicken reared in closed house cage had mortality rate was lower, live final weight was greater, FCR was lower and IP was greater compared with broiler chicken reared in open house cage. Economic analysis showed broiler chicken reared in closed house have revenue was greater, BEP was lower, cost of production was lower and income/bird was greater compared with broiler chicken reared in open house cage. Technically and economically broiler chicken reared in closed house cage more benefit than broiler chicken reared in open house cage.
