    Abstract: This study aims to analyze the style of language, the language style criticize, efficient use of vocabulary, and persuasive speech delivered in a series of speeches Jeffrie Geovanie a tribute to West Sumatra. The method used is descriptive method and the object of this research is a series of speeches Jeffrie Geovanie a tribute to West Sumatra Padang Ekspres and Singgalang. Based on the analysis we can conclude that the style of language used in the serial Geovanie Jeffrie speech is stylistic hyperbole, personification, epithet, sarcasm, and irony. The author is more inclined to criticize realist style, symbolic, gothic, allegory, and proletarian. In the utilization of the vocabulary used by the author in the form of utilization of scientific vocabulary, popular words, greeting words and idioms. Writers tend to be able to convince and can touch the reader in his speech (speech persuasive).

    Abstract: Translation does not only translate from the source language (ST) to the target language (TT) because if it is done, the translation results or (TT) will not be accepted by the target language user and will not have the same effect as the source language. This is called the concept of equivalence. Equivalence is a problem that can not only be accepted by users of the target language which is also in accordance with the context of the culture, customs and habits of the local community, but this concept is essentially the result of the translated text having the same impact between the source language and the target language. This article analyzed the concept of theoretical and practical equivalence of translation from English to Indonesian or vice versa. The purpose of writing this article is to reveal the equivalence of translation and at the same time reveal translation errors that often occur in society. The data collection method used in this article is SBLC or free-to-talk (Sudaryanto, 1993). While the data analysis method is equivalent which was also written by the same expert.

    Abstract: This research examined the code-mixing found on YouTube. Because many people nowadays use YouTube to express their creativity, this article used YouTube. The aims of this research were to determine the types of code-mixing and the code-mixing factors that influence children in south Jakarta to mix their language. The researchers choose the data source from TS Media’s YouTube, Livy Renata's utterance in the video was used the most. This research was revealed by the researchers using Muysken’s theory. The qualitative descriptive method was used in the research to analyze the different types of code-mixing and the dominant category used by Livy's utterance. Data were gathered through observation. The data was derived from a video that was uploaded to TS Media's YouTube channel. There are (8) insertions, (4) alternation, and (3) congruent lexicalization as a consequence of this research. They all use varying amounts of code-mixing in their speakers' and listeners' utterances. In this video, there are so many mixes in language and the researchers finding revealed that insertion was the most common type of code-mixing used by speakers and hearers in the video TS media's YouTube. It was followed by the second type, alternation, and the last type, congruent lexicalization.

    Abstract: The purpose of this service is to see and follow up on the abilities of the kohais of the Raudhatul Jannah dojo in order to achieve better achievements. Speech act is something that is needed in karate practice, in this case it is not speech to convey messages that need to be carried out by kohai-kohai in practice. If the kohais don't understand the speech conveyed by the trainer, the communication between the trainer and the kohai cannot work. Karate is a martial art where a trainer has a target in the training. The failure or success of the coach can be seen from the success of his students. Kohai-kohai dojo Raudhatul Jannah still cannot compete with athletes from around  Batam because their training schedule is very minimal. The method used in this service is for the servant to directly train and improve the kohai-kohai technique and get results that still need to be repaired and trained.

    Abstract: Kata is a significant thing in karate, the aim of this service is to form the young generation of karate and become athletes who excel, especially KATA or karate moves and to form kohai-kohai performances in playing kata, especially kata hean sandan. Kata hean sandan is the third basic kata in karate and is usually played by karateka who hold a yellow to green belt. This kata is also competed in festival and open classes. Apart from that, practicing kata to form the kihon or basic movements of an athlete, when playing this kata you will see the perfect kihon form. Besides that, kata can train and improve a karateka's concentration. The theory used in this analysis is Nakayama's theory, (1979). The method used in this analysis is the direct field survey method. This method will observe the forms of movement carried out by kohai-kohai karate. This method will also act directly and revise movements that are deemed inappropriate. The result of this method is that the kohai's movements immediately change to a better shape.

    Abstract: This article provides a review from the reader's point of view of essays’ hook written by EFL students in Putera Batam University. The purpose of this study is to provide an overview of the effectiveness of the opening sentence which is able to attract readers to read the entire essay or perhaps ignore it altogether. By acting as a reader, the researcher then provides a review of the opening sentence in the introductory paragraph. This research uses descriptive research method. The data is taken from the student's writing task. The data are then grouped based on how to make a good hook and analyzed based on how to write a good hook. The researchers act as the reader and uses their point of view to judge an interesting hook. The results obtained from this study are 23 data hooks using questions, 17 data hooks with interesting observations, 11 data hooks had unique scenarios, 4 data hooks using famous quotes and 3 data with statistics. Furthermore, the remaining 6 data were identified not to write hooks using these five methods. From this review, it can be concluded that writing hooks is not as easy as it seems, because to attract readers' interest the writer should be able to see the hook from the reader's point of view.

    Abstract: The theory used in this research was proposed by Freud, (1921) to analyze Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder found in the movie “Cherry” movie by Russo Brothers. The movie will be the data source to analyze cause of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. Mental illness is the main topic that sometime portrayed in the movie or novel. This research will be focused on the cause of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder from the utterances and narrations by the characters in the movie. The research will be used descriptive qualitative method of the research by (Creswell, 2013) to conduct the data. The researchers will be analyzed the utterances and narrations from the characters in the movie “Cherry.” The utterances and narrations discovered in the movie will be classified used theory causes of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder proposed by Davison, (2012) which were genetic, environmental, brain structure and psychological causes.  The observational method and non-participatory technique as the methods of collecting data will be used in this research. The result will be discovered that there were 10 utterances, narrations, or actions of cause of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder by the characters in the movie. They are included 3 data discovered as genetic causes and 7 data discovered as environmental causes.

    Abstract: This Research aims is to analyze and describe the form of Psychogenic needs of affection the needs of affection of the main character in “Warm Bodies” novel by Isaac Marion. In this research, researcher uses the Needs of Affection theory of Henry Murray. In the research design, researcher uses descriptive qualitative research, the primarily data is the Novel Warm Bodies by Isaac Marion which was published in 2011. The researcher uses Non-participatory observation as method of collecting the data. The researcher uses categorization data as the method of analyzing data. The researcher found the data all form the main character of the novel needs of affection based on experienced by main characters which are involved R and Julie. There are form of Psychogenic needs of affection such as need of affiliation found 3 data, need of rejection found 2 data, need of succorance found 2 data, need of nurturance 2 data and need of play found 1 data.
