Abstract:
“If seeing Kierkegaard's stages through the eyes given me by Plato is useful, good, or right, then if it is a good method, it ought to go the other way. Kierkegaard's stages, and what I call the perspectival activities, viz., irony, humor, and faith, can enable a deepened appreciation for the genius of Plato. Great thinkers in dialogue honor each other, test us, and finally enable us to praise them as they take our measure.”
