Abstract:
Le terme "étages de grotte" est utilisé dans de nombreux contextes, avec de nombreux sens. Cet article se propose de définir cette notion morphologique en s'appuyant sur des considérations géométriques, morphologiques, sédimentologiques. Ainsi, on s'aperçoit que, dans la majorité des cas, il est employé abusivement, en laissant souvent supposer un sens génétique qui conduit à des conclusions erronées. L'étude des dépôts colmatant les galeries incriminées met en évidence des fonctionnements souvent synchrones ou "va-et-vient" de plusieurs niveaux de galeries à l'intérieur d'une même cavité.
