Abstract: In this study, mints were regenerated from calluses irradiated by γ - rays (Co-60) at doses from 0 to 70 Gy. After 4 times of propagation, the M1V4 mints were transferred in a greenhouse for assessments of growth, development and essential oil content. Mint regenerated from calluses irradiated at low doses (0, 3, 4, 6, 8 and 10 Gy) showed no morphological difference compared to the control plants. However, low-dose irradiated mints showed better effect on growth and development, and mints regenerated from 6Gy-irradiated sample had essential oil content with 1.3 times higher than that of control group. In case of plants irradiated at higher dose (30, 40, 50, 60 and 70 Gy), there were morphological variations such as stem become bigger and color of stem become purple. Especially, samples irradiated at 60 Gy showed better in growth, development and essential oil content (1.34 times higher than the control plants) and these characters were stable in M1V4. Among the irradiated mints, purple stem variations had the highest essential oil yield with 1.7 times higher than that of the original plants.

Abstract: Lithium batteries and supercapacitors are two most important electrochemical energy storage (EES) technologies. The demand for EES is nowadays extremely large and it addresses very different applications from small portable devices, over electric vehicles, to large stationary application. Therefore, the requirements for EES are including not only of specific power and energy but also the cycle life and security. Many research works have developed new electrode materials and novel electrolytes; designed new system concepts in order to maximize the stored and converted energy [1,2]. The security in the EES is quietly prioritized, that required the replacement of volatile solvent or at least using the inflammable additives. The ionic liquids, also called “room temperature molten salts” have been considered a promising electrolyte for lithium batteries or supercapacitors [3]. Given their interesting properties, such as nonvolatility, non-flammability, high thermal stability, wide liquid range and wide electrochemical window, many ILs have been suggested based on tailoring of cation and anion structures [4,5,6] . In our work, ILs based on ammonium cations (quaternary ammonium, pyrrolidinium and piperidinium) and 1-ethylmethyl imidazolium cation combined with bis(trifluoromethanesulfonyl) imide anion – TFSI were investigated for EES. The fluorinated ILs using fluoro-alkyl chain length were also studied due to enlargement of the electrochemical window. In addition, the new synthesis pathway was reported via derivated tosylate compound [7].These synthesized ILs were stable in oxidation, at least 5,2 V vs Li + /Li. The fluorinated ammonium ILs increase the oxidation potential up to 500 mV compared to the non-fluorinated ILs [5,6]. However, the high viscosity of ILs still remains a big challenge for EES application. One solution to design safer electrolytes based on ionic liquids which exhibit simultaneously all the required properties (i.e. low viscosity, electrochemical stability, non-flammability), is the addition of molecular additive (organic solvent such as: EC, acetonitrile,…). In our previous report, the incorporation of 20 %vol. EC has no positive effect on the pure IL dissociation, but decreases the viscosity as well as improves the electrochemical window stability [8] . Thus, 20% vol. EC was chosen for cycling test of batteries and supercapacitors. The battery cycling test was performed using ILs + 20 % vol. EC + 0.25M LiTFSI. The results seem to be promising for N 1123 TFSI + 20% vol. EC +0.25M LiTFSI compared to the commercial electrolyte 1M LiPF 6 /EC-DMC. The charge-discharge profile of LiMn 2 O 4 in N 1123 TFSI + 20% vol. EC and in EMITFSI + 20% vol. EC in Comparing to the LiPF 6 /EC-DMC (1:1). The discharge capacity and coulombic efficiency in ILs is higher, 85 mAh/g and 80% (N 1123 TFSI) and 60 mAh/g and 78% (EMITFSI) vs 70 mAh/g and 70% for LiPF 6 /EC-DMC after 30 cycles at C/10 rate. The results will be further discussed. References   [1]. D. Cericola, Electrochimica Acta 72 (2010) A536. [2]. D. R. MacFaclane, Acc. Chem. Res. 40 (2007) 1165 – 1173. [3]. J. Devynck et al., J. Abstract: Milk and dairy products, often considered healthy and nutritionally balanced natural foods, include essential nutrients for all ages and are an important part of the daily diet. However, the indiscriminate use of antibiotics, more than the allowable dose, and improper purposes makes food and animal products in general and dairy at risk of harming human health. Sensitive consumers may experience allergies or even more severe health problems. Antibiotics are left over for a long time, and it will lead to antibiotic resistance, making it difficult for people to control diseases and causing many consequences in the future. There are many modern methods proposed to detect antibiotics in food. One of the main methods is the electrochemical method. In this study, we used aptamer Neo6 and gold nanochip to fabricate an electrochemical aptasensor capable of determining neomycin residues in milk with a linear range of 10 - 3,000 ng/mL as determining the accuracy of the neomycin residues in milk. The sensitivity and specificity of the aptasensor are quite high. In addition, we initially compared over 20 milk samples supplemented with antibiotics, showing similar results with those analyzed by LC-MS/MS method.

Abstract: Mangiferin is a substance that can be well-applied in treating diabetes type 2. Having moderating effect on enzyme α-glucosidase and restraining activities of this enzyme, Mangiferin can lower the absorption of carbonhydrate in bowels and slow down the increase of sugar level of diabetes patients after meals. However, Mangiferin has poorly solubility in water (70 mg/l) so the capability of absorption into human body is lowered; therefore it needs transforming into another form which bears high solubility into water to increase the capability of absorption. Mangiferin calcium salt is a substance having good solubility into water (1100 mg/l) compared to Mangiferin with simple transformation process. Thus, it can be applied to improve the Mangiferin solubility and absorption capability into human body.

Abstract: Pneumoperitoneum and Trendelenburg position in laparoscopic surgeries could contribute to postoperative pulmonary dysfunction. In recent years, intraoperative lung-protective mechanical ventilation (LPV) has been reportedly able to attenuate ventilator-induced lung injuries (VILI). Our objectives were to test the hypothesis that LPV could improve intraoperative oxygenation function, pulmonary mechanics and early postoperative atelectasis in laparoscopic surgeries. Methods In this randomized controlled clinical trial, 62 patients indicated for elective abdominal laparoscopic surgeries with an expected duration of greater than 2 h were randomly assigned to receive either lung-protective ventilation (LPV) with a tidal volume (Vt) of 7 ml kg − 1 ideal body weight (IBW), 10 cmH 2 O positive end-expiratory pressure (PEEP) combined with regular recruitment maneuvers (RMs) or conventional ventilation (CV) with a Vt of 10 ml kg − 1 IBW, 0 cmH 2 O in PEEP and no RMs. The primary endpoints were the changes in the ratio of PaO 2 to FiO 2 (P/F). The secondary endpoints were the differences between the two groups in PaO 2 , alveolar-arterial oxygen gradient (A-aO 2 ), intraoperative pulmonary mechanics and the incidence of atelectasis detected on chest x-ray on the first postoperative day. Results In comparison to CV group, the intraoperative P/F and PaO 2 in LPV group were significantly higher while the intraoperative A-aO 2 was clearly lower. C dyn and C stat at all the intraoperative time points in LPV group were significantly higher compared to CV group ( p   〈  0.05). There were no differences in the incidence of atelectasis on day one after surgery between the two groups. Conclusions Lung protective mechanical ventilation significantly improved intraoperative pulmonary oxygenation function and pulmonary compliance in patients experiencing various abdominal laparoscopic surgeries, but it could not ameliorate early postoperative atelectasis and oxygenation function on the first day after surgery.
