    Abstract: Low‐ and middle‐income countries have rapidly increasing numbers of people with dementia, yet little evidence on family caregiving interventions. We tested the preliminary efficacy and feasibility of a family caregiving intervention in northern Vietnam. Methods Nine clusters comprising 60 family caregivers were randomized to a culturally adapted version of a four‐ to six‐session, multicomponent intervention delivered in‐home over 2 to 3 months, or enhanced control. Eligible caregivers were ≥18 years of age and scored ≥6 on the Zarit Burden Inventory (ZBI). Results Fifty‐one caregivers (85%) completed the study. Using analysis of covariance with 3‐month assessment as the outcome and baseline assessment as a covariate, intervention group caregivers had an average ZBI (primary outcome) score 1.2 standard deviation (SD) lower ( P  = .02) and Patient Health Questionnaire‐4 (psychological distress) score 0.7 SD lower ( P  = .03) than controls. Discussion In the first study of its kind in Vietnam, a culturally adapted, manualized, family caregiver intervention was both efficacious and feasible.

    Abstract: In recent years, both scientists and local governments have been giving serious attention to land evaluation, especially in regard to the use of agricultural land. This is with the intention of increasing the sustainability of agricultural production. In Vietnam, acacia plantations play an important role in the livelihoods of farmers in mountainous regions. Therefore, identifying suitable areas for acacia plantations is an important consideration within mountainous areas. This research was conducted in Nam Dong district, Central Vietnam, using six physical soil criteria for land evaluation by the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) and also the Fuzzy Analytic Hierarchy Process (FAHP). The results have shown that the ranking of selected criteria in both methods was the same, but the weighting of each criterion was different. Among the six physical soil criteria, soil depth has the highest priority, followed by slope, soil organic carbon content, soil texture, soil pH, and soil type. The suitability maps for acacia plantations within the area studied have shown that 9344 ha were not suitable, and 99 ha had low suitability for acacia plantation by both methods. For the AHP approach, 928 hectares were in the range of moderate suitability, and 3080 hectares were in the high suitability class. In contrast, the FAHP method determined 905 hectares to be of the moderate suitability class and 3102 hectares to be of the high suitability class. Based on the observed acacia’s productivity and the scores of the two methods, it shows that the FAHP has a stronger correlation than the of AHP. Within the six selected criteria, the FAHP method can increase the accuracy of land evaluation results by 4.62% in comparison to the original AHP method. Therefore, the FAHP is the most suitable method for land evaluation, especially for agricultural land planning. Further studies should be integrated into more social and economic criteria for comprehensive land evaluation scenarios.

    Abstract: Keeping the balance between high rate of economic growth and environmental sustainability is the most important task of many nations, especially developing nations including VietNam. According toGardner & Stern [1],many environmental issues such as global warming, climate change… due to pollution, loss of biodiversity are intrinsically related to human behavior. Besides the role of Government and business in environmental protection, individual purchase behaviour has a big effect on environmental protection, too. Hencethis research applies the theory of Planned Behavior to examine the factors that have impact on Vietnamese Consumers’ Purchase Intentions toward Green Electronic Products in Hochiminh City. Through directly interviewing 193 consumers in HCM city, the resultshowed that the most affected factor of Consumers’ Purchase Intentions toward Green Electronic Products is environmental knowledge(β =0,283),recognized consumer effectiveness(β =0,23 6), ecolabel (β =0,217), with adjusted R2is of 19,4%.

    Abstract: e present a new study of archival ALMA observations of the CO(2-1) line emission ofthe host galaxy of quasar RX J1131. The quasar, at redshift z S ∼0.654, is lensed by a foreground galaxy at z L ∼0.30. Particular attention is paid to the mechanism of gravitational lensing. A simple lens model, shown to well reproduce the optical images obtained by the Hubble Space Telescope, is applied to the ALMA CO(2-1) images, providing a tool to understand the uncertainties attached to the evaluation of the source brightness and kinematics. Uncertainties attached to the process of data reduction are carefully evaluated. Evidence for the robustness of previously published results is obtained. A system of polar coordinates is introduced to better match the specificity ofthe imaging process. It provides particularly clear evidence for rotation of the gas contained in the galaxy. A simple rotating disc model is shown to give an excellent overall description of the morpho-kinematics of the source. It gives evidence for a hot spot of emission located near the quasar, overlapping the caustic and corresponding to an enhancement of emission by a factor ∼2.5. The possible presence of a companion galaxy suggested by some previous authors is not confirmed. The rotation curve is studied with reference to the predictions of the disc model. De-tailed comparison between model and observations gives evidence for a more complex dynamics than implied by the model. Doppler velocity dispersion within the beam size in the image plane is found to contribute 60±10 km s −1 to the line width. It accounts for the observed line width when a2- σ cut is applied to the data. However, when using a less severe cut, a significant amount of turbulence may be accommodated, preventing a reliable evaluation of the contribution of turbulence to the line width.

    Abstract: The Tobacco Control Law in Vietnam was adopted in 2012 and came into force from May 2013, followed by a number of guiding sub-law legal documents. Smoke-free campus policy in university is considered an important measure to protect people from secondhand smoking as well as staffs and students will be in favour of the policy. Furthermore, there has been evidence suggested that smoke-free policy had positive impact on active smoking as well as anti-smoking attitude. Methods: A cross-sectional self-administered study of staff at 4 universities were conducted in 2 phases, Phase 1 as early introduction of the Law (n = 900) and Phase 2 as 1-year post (n = 885). Demographics, tobacco consumption, compliance status and compliance with awareness towards the campus smoking regulations were assessed in both phases. Results: Daily smoking prevalence decreased significantly ( P  〈  .05) 1 year after implementing the smoke-free policy, while a significant increase in occasional smoking ( P  〈  .01). Compliance of staff to the regulation the campus should be indoor smoke-free was significantly increase at Phase 2 compared to Phase 1, however participants reported there would be places on campus that smokers frequently violated the smoke-free regulations. Conclusions: The study indicated a significant positive change in compliance of staff at the 4 universities after the implementation of the Tobacco Control Law, included the smoke-free policy. Although the prevalence of tobacco smoking in this study was low, the proportion of respondents who reported to reduce infringement the smoke-free policy suggests support for staff smokers would be beneficial. Raising awareness and enforcement is likely to enhance the long-term outcomes of the implementation of smoke-free environment.

    Abstract: Vật liệu carbon từ tính có khả năng xử lý hiệu quả nguồn nước ô nhiễm arsenic đã được tổng hợp thành công từ nguyên liệu ban đầu là: nguồn thải rơm rạ, FeCl3, và KOH bằng phương pháp carbon hóa thủy nhiệt ở nhiệt độ thấp. Tính chất đặc trưng của sản phẩm được đánh giá bởi các phương pháp: XRD, SEM, EDX, FT-IR, BET và VSM. Kết quả cho thấy, vật liệu thu được có diện tích bề mặt riêng khá cao (171 m2/g) và độ từ hóa lớn (33 emu/g). Quá trình hấp phụ As(V) trong dung dịch nước được mô tả tốt bởi mô hình động học biểu kiến bậc hai và phù hợp với cả mô hình đẳng nhiệt Langmuir và Freundlich. Với nồng độ ban đầu là 400 µg.L-1, hàm lượng arsenic trong nước sau khi xử lý thấp hơn giới hạn cho phép trong nước uống (10 µg/L) theo quy định của Tổ chức Y tế Thế giới (WHO). Như vậy, vật liệu carbon từ tính thu được có hiệu quả xử lý ion As(V) trong nước tốt, chi phí thấp, dễ thu hồi bởi nguồn từ trường ngoài, hứa hẹn trở thành chất hấp phụ tiềm năng xử lý nguồn nước ô nhiễm arsenic.

    Abstract: This paper presents the effect of water’s temperature on the friction properties of materials used in marine propeller sliding bearing. Copper-Rubber and Copper-Capron, two common pairs of material in the shaft water-lubricated polymer bearing were chosen to conduct experiments with the pin-on-disc model. Various conditions including water temperature, stress, and sliding velocity were examined, their results showed that in the range 30 °C to 100 °C of water temperature, the frictional coefficient of both friction pairs were unchanged under the small stress and low sliding velocity (0.3 MPa and 0.9 m/s). While in the case of stress and sliding velocity were both high (0.6 MPa and 1.5 m/s), it increased significantly in a certain transition temperature range. This temperature range of the pair Copper-Rubber and Copper-Capron is 50 °C to 60 °C and 80 °C to 90 °C, respectively. The experiment’s results also pointed out that in these transition temperature ranges, the friction coefficient of two pairs was slightly influenced by the change in sliding velocity, whereas the stress change has an important impact on its values. Nonetheless, when the water temperature was below the transition range, the effect of the stress change on the friction coefficient was not significant. Thus, high water temperature is the main reason for the friction coefficient’s increase rather than the increase of the stress. This work is expected to broaden the understanding of the friction behavior of the water-lubricated polymer bearing.
