Abstract:
Magnetic annealing can reorient the domain moments, improving dramatically the magnetostriction of Tb–Dy–Fe oriented polycrystals without applying any prestress. In this paper, totally different stress dependences of magnetization and magnetostriction were observed in ⟨110⟩ oriented Tb0.36Dy0.64(Fe0.85Co0.15)2 polycrystals after perpendicular magnetic annealing. Under compressive prestress, no obvious increase in magnetostriction occurred but the linear magnetostriction performance was improved. The magnetization initially decreased and approached to saturation at relatively higher magnetic fields with increasing the stress magnitude. Such variation can be contributed mainly by the redistribution of initial magnetic moments and enlargement of 71° wall energy.
