Abstract: Objective: To summarize the diagnosis and treatment of juxta-ampullary duodenal diverticulum (JAD) in our hospital. Methods: Of 5000 consecutive endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) performed in our department, 225 patients were diagnosed with JAD and treated. All patients were classified based on the location of Ampullae of Vater in relation to the duodenal diverticulum. Of the 225 JAD patients, 96 patients (43%) required surgery. Results: The 225 patients with JAD were divided into Type A (146 cases, 65%) or Type B (79 cases, 35%). Type A patients presented with papillae near the diverticulum or in its margin. In this type, 36 patients (25%) presented with diverticulitis, bleeding, perforation or cholelithiasis, and were treated surgically. Type B patients presented with papillae inside the diverticulum. Among them, 60 patients (76%) had complications requiring surgery. Conclusions: JAD can be divided into two types based on location of the papillae. ERCP was the primary method of diagnosing JAD and patients with severe complications required surgical intervention.

Abstract: Cognitive impairment has been identified in patients with non-central nervous system cancer received chemotherapy. Chemotherapy-induced changes in the brain are considered as the possible causes of the cognitive deficits of patients. This study aimed to explore chemotherapy-related functional brain changes and cognitive impairment in rectal cancer (RC) patients who had just finished chemotherapy treatment. Methods In this study, RC patients after chemotherapy (on the day patients received the last dose of chemotherapy) (n=30) and matched healthy controls (HCs) (n=30) underwent cognitive assessments, structural magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and resting-state functional MRI. The functional brain networks were constructed by thresholding the partial correlation matrices of 90 brain regions in the Anatomical Automatic Labeling template and the topologic properties were evaluated by graph theory analysis. Moreover, correlations between altered topological measures and scores of cognitive scales were explored in the patient group. Results Compared with HCs, RC patients had lower scores of cognitive scales. The functional brain network had preserved small-world topological features but with a tendency towards higher path length in the whole network. In addition, patients had decreased nodal global efficiency (E glo(i) ) in the left superior frontal gyrus (dorsolateral), superior frontal gyrus (orbital part), inferior frontal gyrus (opercular part), inferior frontal gyrus (triangular part) and right inferior frontal gyrus (triangular part). Moreover, values of E glo(i) in the superior and inferior frontal gyrus were positively associated with cognitive function in the patient group. Conclusion These results suggested that cognitive impairment was associated with disruptions of the topological organization in functional brain networks of RC patients who had just finished chemotherapy, which provided new insights into the pathophysiology underlying acute effects of chemotherapy on cognitive function.

Abstract: Dynamic disasters frequently occur in deep coal mines, where coals and rocks are under high in situ stresses. To reveal the failure mechanism of deep burying coals, the specimens were made of buried coals at a depth of about 1 km. An improved Kolsky bar was applied to conduct the dynamic compression experiments subjected to different hydrostatic pressure i.e., 0, 5, 10, 15, and 20 MPa for simulating in situ stresses corresponding to depths of 0, 200, 400, 600, and 800 m. The findings demonstrate that the dynamic compressive strength of coal at a specified depth is rate-dependent. And the dynamic strength is positively correlated with the burial depth at a given loading rate. Moreover, a Mohr–Coulomb strength criterion for coal under dynamic loadings that considers the effect of depth is established, and the model describes the experimental results well.

Abstract: In order to avoid the crystal transformation of ϵ‐Hexanitrohexaazaisowurtzitane (ϵ‐HNIW) dissolved in plasticizers, a suitable bonding agent was selected to inhibit the crystal transformation of ϵ‐HNIW. Interfacial interaction simulations were carried out using Materials Studio2017 software for selected neutral polymer bonding agent (NPBA), polyene polyamine bonding agent (LBA) and polydopamine (PDA) and ϵ‐HNIW. Results showed that the interaction order of the three polymers on the ϵ‐HNIW crystal surface is PDA 〉 NPBA 〉  LBA; ϵ‐HNIW@ PDA crystal phase was more stable. Therefore, ϵ‐HNIW@ PDA crystal particles were constructed by the in‐situ self‐polymerization coating technology. Scanning electron microscope (SEM) showed that the ϵ‐HNIW@ PDA was square with smooth surface. The thermal properties of ϵ‐HNIW@ PDA were investigated by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), which showed that the coating of PDA effectively increased the transition temperature of ϵ‐HNIW crystal. Moreover, the solubility and crystal transformation mechanism and law of ϵ‐HNIW/ϵ‐HNIW@ PDA in four plasticizers were further studied and compared systematically, ϵ‐HNIW@ PDA showed significantly lower solubility compared with ϵ‐HNIW. The solubility size was ranking as isodecyl nonanoate (IDP) 〉 dioctyl sebacate (DOS) 〉 dioctyl adipate (DOA) 〉 paraffin liquid (RH). Variable‐temperature X‐ray diffraction (XRD) tests showed that PDA increased the ϵ‐HNIW crystal transformation temperature by about 35 °C. The small amount of dissolution of ϵ‐HNIW by the four plasticizers had a facilitative effect on the ϵ‐HNIW crystal transformation, which was consistent with the solubility magnitude. These results indicated that PDA‐coated ϵ‐HNIW enhances crystal interfacial interaction, reduces the solubility in plasticizers, and has a significant inhibitory effect on the dissolution‐induced crystal transformation of ϵ‐HNIW.

Abstract: To deepen the oxidation depth and promote the exothermic reaction of aluminum nanoparticles (Al NPs), this work constructed perfluoropolyether-functionalized Al NPs by using a facile fabrication method. It was determined that perfluoropolyether (PFPE) was uniformly distributed on the surface of the Al NPs with no obvious agglomeration by micro-structure analysis. Thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), microcomputer automatic calorimeter (MAC), and combustion and ignition experiments were performed for varying percentages of PFPE blended with Al NPs to examine the reaction kinetics and combustion performance. It was revealed that the oxidation mechanism of PFPE-functionalized Al NPs at a slow heating rate was regulated by the reaction interface Fuel-Oxidizer ratio. Due to the enlarged Fuel-Oxidizer contact surface area, fluorine atoms could adequately decompose the inert alumina shell surrounding the Al NPs, optimizing the combustion process of Al NPs. The analytical X-ray diffraction (XRD) pattern results confirmed the existence of aluminum trifluoride in combustion products, providing insights into the oxidation mechanism of Al NPs. The obtained results indicated that PFPE participated in the oxidation of Al NPs and improved the overall reactivity of Al NPs.

Abstract: The safety and clinical efficacy of 125 I seed‐loaded stent for the treatment of portal vein tumor thrombosis (PVTT) have been shown. Accurate and fast dose calculation of the 125 I seeds with the presence of the stent is necessary for the plan optimization and evaluation. However, the dosimetric characteristics of the seed‐loaded stents remain unclear and there is no fast dose calculation technique available. This paper aims to explore a fast and accurate analytical dose calculation method based on Monte Carlo (MC) dose calculation, which takes into account the effect of stent and tissue inhomogeneity. Methods A detailed model of the seed‐loaded stent was developed using 3D modeling software and subsequently used in MC simulations to calculate the dose distribution around the stent. The dose perturbation caused by the presence of the stent was analyzed, and dose perturbation kernels (DPKs) were derived and stored for future use. Then, the dose calculation method from AAPM TG‐43 was adapted by integrating the DPK and appropriate inhomogeneity correction factors (ICF) to calculate dose distributions analytically. To validate the proposed method, several comparisons were performed with other methods in water phantom and voxelized CT phantoms for three patients. Results The stent has a considerable dosimetric effect reducing the dose up to 47.2% for single‐seed stent and 11.9%–16.1% for 16‐seed stent. In a water phantom, dose distributions from MC simulations and TG‐43‐DP‐ICF showed a good agreement with the relative error less than 3.3%. In voxelized CT phantoms, taking MC results as the reference, the relative errors of TG‐43 method can be up to 33%, while those of TG‐43‐DP‐ICF method were less than 5%. For a dose matrix with 256 × 256 × 46 grid (corresponding to a phantom of 17.2 × 17.2 × 11.5 cm 3 ) for 16‐seed‐loaded stent, it only takes 17 s for TG‐43‐DP‐ICF to compute, compared to 25 h for the full MC calculation. Conclusions The combination of DPK and inhomogeneity corrections is an effective approach to handle both the presence of stent and tissue heterogeneity. Exhibiting good agreement with MC calculation and computational efficiency, the proposed TG‐43‐DP‐ICF method is adequate for dose evaluation and optimization in seed‐loaded stent implantation treatment planning.
