Abstract: If an electromagnetic field can be represented by a pure electric wave (E-wave or TM wave, transverse magnetic field) or a pure magnetic wave (H-wave or TE wave, transverse electric field), then as a boundry value problem, when the operating frequency tends to zero, the electromagnetic field will be re-duced to an electrostatic or a magnetostatic field, respectively. Hence the solution of such an electromagnetic problem can easily be obtained from that of the corresponding static problem, because there exists an one-to-one correspondence between the terms of the series solution of the electromagnetic problem and those of the series solution of the static problem, and therefore we can obtain one series from the other, using the rales of determining the integration constants in the unknown series outlined in this paper. We point out two possibilities of the existense of pure electric waves and pure magnetic waves; one in coordinate systems satisfying eq. (3) and other conditions discussed in this paper and the, other in problems where some forms of symmetry exist so that the system of Maxwell's equations can be broken into two independent groups, which we also call respectively electric waves and magnetic wavea.By means of the proposed-method some complicated boundry value problems can be solved with ease as we have done here for the problem of the excitation of waveguides by a dipole from the known solution of the corresponding static problem. Since there is a rich accumulation of electrostatic and magnetostatic problems so the method proposed here should be valuable in solving field problem and should be studied further.

Abstract: In frequency modulation system the change of the percentage modulation affects the bandwidth of the transmitted signal. Outside the critical sideband the amplitude of all the higher order sidebands is a positive decreasing function of the order of the sidebands. In this paper we give an approximate determination of amplitude of this critical sideband as given by equation (8) or fig. (2); given also are the approximate magnitude of any side band above the critical and the ratio of the amplitude of any sideband above the critical to that of the critical, equation (11). By means of these two equations we can design the bandwidth of the transmission system by retaining a certain number of significant sidebands above the critical.

Abstract: A method is presented here to sum certain type of Fourier series. The series is treated as a response function of a linear electric circuit with lumped constants. This electric circuit, subjected to the action of an external force expressed in the form of another Fourier series derived from the original series to be summed can be formed by inspection or by network synthesis. If this derived series can be put into a closed form, then by applying the steady-state operational technique to this electric circuit, the original series can be expressed in a closed form or in a graphical form.

Abstract: Three different forms of coupling through a small hole are treated by approxi mate methods, which are justified from good physical reasoning. These are the end on coupling between a rectangular and a circular waveguides, the coupling between a TE10 mode in a rectangular waveguide and a TM120 mode in a circular cavity through a circular hole in the side wall of the circular cavity and the coupling between a TE01 mode in a rectangular waveguide and a TMmn mode in circular waveguide through a circular hole in the side wall of the latter. The purpose of this paper is to demonstrate the methods of handling problems of complicated microwave component parts. A few formulas developed in this paper are believed to be new and useful in design works.
