Kurzfassung: The influences of pulsed magnetic field (PMF) on solidification structure of 6063 alloy were studied in this article. The results show that solidification structure of 6063 alloy can be refined with the application of PMF. The dendrite growth restrained and the macrostructure changed from large dendrite grains to fine equiaxed grains. The grain size decreased when the voltage increased from 0V to 600V. However, when the pulse frequency increased from 5Hz to 15Hz, the average grain size decreased continuously until reached a limit, and then the grains coarsened with further increase of the pulse frequency. The vibration caused by PMF not only made the temperature field of the melt uniform ,but also brook off the initial solidified grains formed on the cold wall of the mold, and spurs the grains to move to the center of melt which can be acted as nuclei.

Kurzfassung: Special brasses containing Mn and Si possess high wear resistance due to the dispersion of hard Mn 5 Si 3 particles. The effect of precipitation hardening on the wear resistance of a Cu–30Zn–3Al–3Mn–0.7Si based brass alloy was investigated. Dry sliding wear test was conducted using a block-on-ring configuration. The results indicated that finely, nanoscale Mn 5 Si 3 particles precipitated from the matrix after annealing at 800 °C for 4 h, resulting in the increase of hardness from 240 to 278 HV. Both the wear loss and friction coefficient decreased, indicating the improvement of the wear resistance. From the examination of the worn surfaces, adhesive and abrasive wear were found to be the major wear forms. The adhesion and abrasion decreased after the precipitation-hardening treatment.

Kurzfassung: The 5083 aluminum alloy was prepared and subjected to cryogenic rolling (CR) after heat treatment. The samples were reduced from 15mm to 1.5 mm in the thickness direction and the amount of deformation was 90%. For comparison, samples with the same deformation amount were obtained by room temperature rolling (RTR). The corrosion behavior of CR and RTR samples was measured by electrochemical test, and their microstructures before and after corrosion had been studied through electron scanning microscopy (SEM) and optical microscope (OM). The influence of cryogenic rolling on the corrosion behavior of 5083 aluminum alloys was explored. The experiment results suggested that anti-corrosion ability of 5083 aluminum alloys could be enhanced through cryogenic rolling. The corrosion potential elevated and the corrosion current density reduced according to the electrochemical test. The primary reasons and corresponding mechanism were also discussed.
