Abstract:
In order to increase the availability of the solar light, a Cu(II) meso-tetra(4-carboxyphenyl)porphyrin (CuTCPP) sensitizer was introduced into Bi 2 MoO 6 photocatalyst. The obtained CuTCPP/Bi 2 MoO 6 composite exhibited much enhanced photocatalytic activity in the degradation of rhodamine B (RhB) under both simulated solar light and visible light beyond the absorption edge of Bi 2 MoO 6 (λ 〉 500 nm), which can be attributed to the broadened photo-response range, as well as the increased charge separation rate of the CuTCPP/Bi 2 MoO 6 composite. Our study demonstrates that hybridizing with porphyrin derivatives can be an effective strategy to increase the utilization rate of the solar light efficiently in a photocatalytic system.
