Abstract:
Bone marrow biopsy is valuable in the workup of approximately 25% of patients with chronic myeloid leukemia because it facilitates identification of the disease phase and myelofibrosis. Biopsy is indicated in patients with findings suggestive of progressive disease, and bone marrow myelofibrosis, when present, is associated with the disease stage and molecular outcome after therapy.
