    Abstract: Dyslipidemia is a major risk factor for cardiovascular disease. Polyherbal formulation is a traditional therapeutic strategy used to treat dyslipidemia over many years of tradition. The aim of this study was designed to evaluate the effects of Hamo NK hard capsule on endogenous dyslipidemia and exogenous dyslipidemia experimental animal model. In endogenous hyperlipidemia model, mice were previously treated by Hamo NK hard capsule, and intraperitoneally injected by poloxamer - 407 to induce hyperlipidemia. Rats were oral administration of oil - cholesterol mixture and Hamo NK for 4 consecutive weeks (exogenous dyslipidemia). Parameters of serum lipid were determined. Hamo NK ameliorated the elevation of serum total cholesterol, Non - HDL - cholesterol at the daily dose of 1.5g/kg b.w (p 〈 0.05). Also, there was no signicant difference in increase on high - density lipoprotein cholesterol levels and decrease triglyceride levels between the groups. Hamo NK at two doses of 0.25g/kg b.w and 0.75g/kg b.w significantly reduced serum LDL - C levels compared to the cholesterol control group. Hamo NK hard capsule affected on serum lipid modulations in dyslipidemia models.

    Abstract: Imbalance between exogenous damaging agents and protective factors in the gastro-duodenum tract can lead to peptic ulcer disease. Herbal medicines could be an effective treatment to human gastric ulcers. This study aimed to investigate the protective effect of AGAR-HP hard capsules on cysteamine-induced gastric-duodenal ulcers in experimental rats. The animals were divided into five treatment groups: Group 1 (control) and group 2 (model) were treated with distilled water, group 3 received esomeprazole at 10 mg/kg, group 4 received AGAR-HP at 0.074 g/kg, and group 5 received AGAR-HP at 0.221 g/kg. All the rats were treated for seven consecutive days. On day 7, peptic-duodenal ulcer were induced by oral cysteamine 400 mg/kg. The number of rats with the ulcer, the number of ulcers per rat, and the ulcer index of each group were recorded. Compared to group 2, AGAR-HP at high dose reduced the mean number of ulcers and the ulcer index under macroscopic and microscopic examinations. These parameters also decreased in the group of AGAR-HP low doses compared to the cysteamine control group. AGAR-HP hard capsules showed some protective effect on cysteamine-induced gastric ulcers in experimental rats.

    Abstract: Mục tiêu của nghiên cứu này là đánh giá tác dụng của viên nang cứng Dạ dày Tuệ Tĩnh trên mô hình gây viêm loét dạ dày - tá tràng bằng cysteamin thực nghiệm. Chuột cống trắng được chia thành 5 lô: lô 1 (chứng sinh học) và lô 2 (mô hình) uống nước cất; lô 3 (esomeprazol 10 mg/kg), lô 4 (DDTT liều 0,252 g/kg) và lô 5 (DDTT liều 0,756 g/kg). Chuột ở các lô được uống nước cất, thuốc và mẫu thử liên tục trong thời gian 7 ngày. Vào ngày thứ 7, chuột được uống cysteamin liều 400 mg/kg. Đánh giá tỷ lệ chuột có viêm loét dạ dày - tá tràng, chỉ số loét trung bình, khả năng ức chế loét giữa các lô. Đánh giá đại thể và vi thể dạ dày - tá tràng tại thời điểm kết thúc nghiên cứu. Kết quả nghiên cứu cho thấy cysteamin gây loét dạ dày tá tràng ở 100% chuột của lô mô hình. DDTT cả 2 mức liều có xu hướng làm giảm số chuột bị loét, số ổ loét trung bình, chỉ số loét. Tổn thương trên đại thể và vi thể cải thiện hơn so với lô mô hình. Như vậy, viên nang cứng Dạ dày Tuệ Tĩnh xu hướng có tác dụng chống loét dạ dày tá tràng do cysteamin gây ra trên động vật thực nghiệm.

    Abstract: This study aims to assess the acute and sub-chronic oral toxicity of “Tri 02” powder in experimental animals. According to World Health Organization Guidance, acute toxicity study was conducted using Swiss mice. LD50 was determined by Litchfield-Wilcoxon method, and sub-chronic toxicity of “Tri 02” at two doses (2.4 g/kg b.w/day and 7.2 g/kg b.w/day) was assessed in Wistar rats for four uninterrupted weeks. Abnormal behavior, toxic symptoms, and death were observed for 7 consecutive days to assess the effects of acute toxicity. The general behavior of the rats was observed daily, and their body weight was recorded weekly. Hematological analysis and biochemical analysis were conducted before treatment, and at 2 and 4 weeks of treatment. Macroscopic examination and histopathological examination of several organs were conducted at the end of the treatment period. The results suggested that “Tri 02” at the highest dose used for mice (187.5 g/kg b.w) did not show acute toxicity and the LD50 was determined. In terms of the sub-chonic toxicity test, after oral administration of “Tri 02” powder, hematological parameters, hepato-renal functions and microscopic images of liver and kidney at both doses were similar to the control group. In conclusion, “Tri 02” powder did not produce the acute and subchronic oral toxicity in experimental animals.

    Abstract: Nghiên cứu nhằm đánh giá hiệu quả điều trị rối loạn lipid máu của viên nang cứng “Hạ mỡ NK” trên các chỉ số lipid máu và tác dụng không mong muốn trong quá trình điều trị. Nghiên cứu thử nghiệm lâm sàng mở, có đối chứng, so sánh trước và sau điều trị. 121 bệnh nhân được chẩn đoán rối loạn lipd máu chia thành hai nhóm đảm bảo tính tương đồng về tuổi, giới, mức độ rối loạn lipid máu. Nhóm Hạ mỡ NK được uống viên nang cứng “Hạ mỡ NK” 525mg x 6 viên/ngày chia 2 lần 8h - 14h, nhóm Atorvastatin uống Atorvastatin 10mg x 1 viên/ngày - 20h trong 60 ngày. Kết quả cho thấy: Viên nang cứng “Hạ mỡ NK” có tác dụng giảm 23,13% nồng độ TC, giảm 17,61% nồng độ TG, giảm 21,34% nồng độ LDL-C, giảm 29,03% nồng độ non - HDL-C có ý nghĩa thống kê với p 〈 0,001 và có xu hướng tăng 1,91% HDL-C (p 〉 0,05) tương đương với nhóm Atorvastatin (giảm 20,55% nồng độ TC; 19,23% nồng độ TG; 11,82% nồng độ LDL-C, giảm 26,93% nồng độ non - HDL-C và tăng 6,21% nồng độ HDL-C) (p 〉 0,05), bên cạnh đó viên nang “Hạ mỡ NK” không gây ra tác dụng phụ và không làm ảnh hưởng đến các chỉ số huyết học, sinh hóa.

    Abstract: This study evaluated the effects of Hamo NK hard capsule on athresclerosis using experimental atherosclerosis model. NewZealand White rabbits were fed a high-fat diet (HFD) containing cholesterol and peanut oil. The animals received oral administration of HFD and Hamo NK hard capsule at two doses of 0.126 and 0.378 g/kg bw/day for 8 consecutive weeks. Blood samples were collected for analyis of biochemical parameters at before treatment, week 4 and week 8. Histopathology assessments of the aortic artery and liver were carried out at the end of the experiment. Hamo NK was effective in reducing serum triglyceride level after 8 weeks of the experiment. In addition, Hamo NK at two doses of 0.126 g/kg b.w and 0.378 g/kg b.w for 8 consecutive weeks did not affect the cholesterol, LDL-C and HDL-C concentrations induced by a HFD. Hamo NK at the dose of 0.126 g/kg bw/day was not only able to decrease significant aortic surface lesions but also capable of managing atherosclerosis plaques formation in aorta; whereas theses activities were not notiaceable at the dose of 0.378 g/kg b.w.

    Abstract: Assessment of toxicities of DA.AMLODEPON HVD hard capsule on experimental animals. The acute toxicity of DA.AMLODEPON HVD was assessed on Swiss mice according to World Health Organization Guidance, and LD50 determination according to the method of Litchfield – Wilcoxon. The sub-chronic toxicity study of DA.AMLODEPON HVD at two doses (0.42 g/kg/day and 1.26g/kg/day) was conducted in rats for four consecutive weeks. After administration, general conditions and the body weight of rats were evaluated. Blood samples were collected for analyzing serum parameters before treatment (T0), second week (T1), and fourth week (T2). Histopathological analysis of livers and kidneys was observed at the end of the experiment. The results revealed that mice were taken up to a maximum dose of 39.15 g/kg with no symptoms of acute toxicity, LD50 of DA.AMLODEPON HVD has not been determined. The sub-chronic toxicity study at two doses did not change the body weight of rats, general conditions. The parameters for structures and functions of livers and kidneys and microscopic of the livers and kidneys are in a normal range during the study period.

    Abstract: Trào ngược dạ dày thực quản (GERD) là một bệnh lý phổ biến và đang có xu hướng tăng lên trên thế giới, trong đó có Việt Nam. Xu hướng sử dụng các thuốc có nguồn gốc từ dược liệu nhằm hỗ trợ điều trị GERD được quan tâm trong những năm trở lại đây. Nghiên cứu được tiến hành nhằm đánh giá tác dụng bảo vệ thực quản của viên nang cứng Mộc tỳ vị (MTV) trên động vật thực nghiệm. Chuột cống trắng chủng Wistar được chia ngẫu nhiên thành 5 lô, mỗi lô 9 con: Lô chứng sinh học, lô mô hình, lô chứng dương (esomeprazol), MTV uống liều 0,252 g/kg/ngày và 0,756 g/kg/ngày trong thời gian 7 ngày liên tục. Mô hình trào ngược dạ dày thực quản được tiến hành theo mô hình Shay kết hợp với uống indomethacin liều 40 mg/kg 2 giờ trước khi gây mô hình. Thể tích dịch vị, pH dịch vị, độ acid dịch vị, diện tích tổn thương và chỉ số thực quản, các thay đổi về đại thể và vi thể được thu thập và đánh giá. Kết quả nghiên cứu cho thấy MTV ở cả hai liều 0,252 g/kg/ngày và 0,756g/kg/ngày làm giảm thể tích dịch vị, tăng pH dịch vị đồng thời giảm độ acid toàn phần và độ acid tự do, giảm diện tích tổn thương và chỉ số thực quản so với lô mô hình.

    Abstract: “Kien nao dan” (KND) tablet is composed of 13 traditional medicines that may has preventive and effective treatment of cerebral ischemia. However, there are no scientific reports of its toxicological properties which guarantee of the safety its usage treatment. Therefore, the aim of this study was to investigate the sub-chronic toxicity of KND tablet on rats through oral administration. The sub-chronic toxicity was evaluated by the recommendation of WHO in Wistar rats at doses of 0.72 g/kg/day (equal to recommended human dose) and 2.16 g/kg/day (3 times as high as recommended human dose) for 8 consecutive weeks. In the evaluation of sub-chronic toxicity, there were no behavioral and physiological changes or signs of toxicity. The result of the hematological and biological parameters after administration of KND tablets showed no change. The histopathologic analysis of livers and kidneys indicated that no significant differences were observed between the exposed and unexposed rat groups. In conclusion, “Kien nao dan” tablets did not produce sub-chronic toxicity in Wistar rats.

    Abstract: The present study aimed to investigate the sub-chronic toxicity of “Phong thap dan” (PTD) tablets through oral administration in experimental animal. The sub-chronic toxicity was evaluated by the WHO recommendation in Wistar rats at doses of 0.72 g/kg/day (equal to recommended human dose) and 2.16 g/kg/day (3 times as high as recommended human dose). In the sub-chronic experimental group, the PTD was administered orally daily for 8 consecutive weeks. In the evaluation of sub-chronic toxicity, there were no behavioral and physiological change or sign of toxicity. The result of the hematological and biological parameters after administration of PTD tablets showed no change. The histopathology analysis of livers and kidneys indicated that no significant difference was observed between the exposed and unexposed rat groups. In conclusion, “Phong thap dan” tablets did not produce sub-chronic toxicity in Wistar rats.
