Abstract: Child influenza is an acute infectious disease that places substantial burden on children and their families. Real-time accurate prediction of child influenza epidemics can aid scientific and timely decision-making that may reduce the harm done to children infected with influenza. Several models have been proposed to predict influenza epidemics. However, most existing studies focus on adult influenza prediction. This study demonstrates the feasibility of using the LASSO (least absolute shrinkage and selection operator) model to predict influenza-like illness (ILI) levels in children between 2017 and 2020 in Shanghai, China. The performance of the LASSO model was compared with that of other statistical influenza-prediction techniques, including autoregressive integrated moving average (ARIMA), random forest (RF), ordinary least squares (OLS), and long short-term memory (LSTM). The LASSO model was observed to exhibit superior performance compared to the other candidate models. Owing to the variable shrinkage and low-variance properties of LASSO, it eliminated unimportant features and avoided overfitting. The experimental results suggest that the LASSO model can provide useful guidance for short-term child influenza prevention and control for schools, hospitals, and governments.

Abstract: The synchronization of states is important to sustain the energy of consumers at any given time for power networks. This paper focuses on the multi-area power network model and then analyzes the cluster synchronization of this kind of network comprised of a third-order chaotic power system. Specifically, we investigate the rich dynamic properties of the single third-order power system. Furthermore, the multi-area network model with the chaotic power system is proposed and the adaptive controller is designed to achieve cluster synchronization. Combining analytical considerations with numerical simulations on a small-scale network, we address the cluster synchronous performance in the multi-area power network. Therefore, our results can provide a basic physical picture for power system dynamics and enable us to further understand the complex dynamical behavior in the multi-area power network.

Abstract: For meeting the real-time fault diagnosis and the optimization monitoring requirements of the polymerization kettle in the polyvinyl chloride resin (PVC) production process, a fault diagnosis strategy based on the self-organizing map (SOM) neural network is proposed. Firstly, a mapping between the polymerization process data and the fault pattern is established by analyzing the production technology of polymerization kettle equipment. The particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm with a new dynamical adjustment method of inertial weights is adopted to optimize the structural parameters of SOM neural network. The fault pattern classification of the polymerization kettle equipment is to realize the nonlinear mapping from symptom set to fault set according to the given symptom set. Finally, the simulation experiments of fault diagnosis are conducted by combining with the industrial on-site historical data of the polymerization kettle and the simulation results show that the proposed PSO-SOM fault diagnosis strategy is effective.

Abstract: Aims. To estimate the prevalence and bother of lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) and the work-related and individual factors associated with LUTS among a representative sample of female nurses. Background. A healthy nursing workforce is essential to advance global health goals, especially during times of extraordinary demand for nursing care. LUTS frequently occur and persist in women and are correlated with multiple negative health outcomes and diminished work engagement and productivity. However, the study of LUTS among female nurses failed to receive sufficient attention from researchers. Methods. We used baseline data for 13,191 female nurses in China collected for the prospective cohort study, the Nurse Urinary Related Health Study (NURS). We assessed nurses’ self-reported LUTS and symptom-related bother using the International Consultation on Incontinence Questionnaire-Female LUTS. We used descriptive statistics to summarize LUTS prevalence and its related bother and a mixed-effects logistic regression model to test the effects of work-related and individual factors on LUTS. Results. Most of the participants in this study were younger than 40 years old (82.9%), were married (74.8%), and had given birth once or never (73.7%). Few participants had chronic diseases (3.4%), consumed alcohol (7.3%), smoked (0.4%), or had overweight/obesity (27.7%). The prevalence of any LUTS was 51.1%, and over 50% of the nurses with LUTS in this study had experienced moderate or severe bother, except for urinary frequency. Working longer than five years, more than 40 hours per week, and in Level A, major tertiary hospitals were found to be risk factors of LUTS, and a nurse-to-bed ratio higher than 0.40 was found to be a protective factor. Increased fluid intake also was found to be a protective factor of LUTS in nurses, and having chronic constipation was found to be a risk factor. Conclusions. LUTS are highly prevalent and severely bothersome among female nurses in China, despite the fact that the female nurses in this study were relatively young, healthy, had few childbirths, and were living healthy lifestyles. This finding warrants remedial action that is related to both behavioral and environmental factors to ensure a healthy nursing workforce. Nurses cannot reasonably be expected to contribute to global health when one of their basic needs as humans, i.e., the normal function of urinary elimination, is ignored. Implications for Nursing Management. Nurse managers should be aware that nurses’ basic needs regarding urination are negatively affected by LUTS and related bother. Nurse managers should address LUTS-related problems on multiple levels, including overseeing and reporting LUTS in nurses, exploring innovative care models to mitigate the negative effects of excessive workloads on nurses, and remodeling the nursing culture and encouraging positive coping behaviors for the self-health of nurses.

Abstract: Aims. To ask lots of questions about finding the truth about the influence of the case management model combined with continuous nursing care on following the law behavior and negative feelings of love, hate, fear, etc. in old patients with lung scale-like cell cancer. Materials and Methods. One hundred and forty-three elderly patients with squamous cell carcinoma of the lung were selected for this prospective study, 10 cases were shed due to epidemic and transfer, and finally 68 cases were in the control group and 65 cases in the observation group. The differences in anxiety and depression scores, quality of life, and compliance behavior between the two groups were observed and compared. Results. After nursing, the self-rating anxiety scale (SAS) and self-rating depression scale (SDS) of the observation group were lower than those of the control group, while the social support score was significantly higher than that of the control group. The scores of psychological behavior, exercise status, drug taking, and balanced diet of the two groups were significantly improved, and the observation group was significantly improved. The scores of medical compliance behavior in the observation group were significantly higher than those in the control group, and the mental vitality score, social interaction score, emotional restriction score, and mental status of the patients in the observation group were significantly higher than those in the control group, and the above statistics showed that the difference was statistically significant ( P 〈 0.05 ). Conclusion. The use of a case management model combined with extended care significantly improved the compliance behavior and anxiety and depression of elderly patients with squamous cell carcinoma of the lung and improved the quality of life and social support.

Abstract: Objective. Remote ischemic conditioning (RIC) is a cardioprotective method in ischemia/reperfusion (I/R) injury. This study investigated the mechanism of Rho-kinase-mediated autophagy in RIC. Methods. Sixty male Sprague–Dawley rats were randomly divided into six groups: sham, I/R, RIC, I/R+fasudil, RIC+wortmannin, and RIC+fasudil+wortmannin. Throughout the experiment, mean arterial pressure and heart rate were continuously monitored. Histopathology and ultrastructure and myocardial enzymes’ expression were evaluated to determine the degree of cardiac injury. The protein expression of the Rho-kinase substrates myosin light chain (MLC) and myosin phosphatase target subunit 1 (MYPT1), autophagy-related protein light chain 3-II (LC3-II) and Beclin 1, and protein kinase B (AKT) was measured in the myocardial tissue. Results. Compared with the sham group, the mean arterial pressure and heart rate were decreased, myocardial enzyme levels were increased, and myocardial damage was aggravated in the I/R group; however, RIC improved these alterations. The expression of phosphorylated MLC and MYPT1 was lower, while LC3-II, Beclin 1, and phospho-AKT expression levels were higher in the RIC group compared with the I/R group. Obviously, treatment of the I/R group rats with fasudil, a Rho-kinase inhibitor, significantly ameliorated the I/R effects, whereas treatment of the RIC group rats with wortmannin, a phosphatidylinositol-3 kinase (PI3K) inhibitor, inhibited the RIC protective effects. Moreover, the rats in the RIC+fasudil+wortmannin group showed similar changes to those in the RIC+wortmannin group. Conclusion. These results showed that RIC protected the myocardium from I/R injury by suppressing Rho-kinase and the underlying mechanism may be related to enhancing autophagy via the PI3K/AKT pathway.

Abstract: This paper proposes a stepped selection method based on spectral kurtosis relative energy entropy. Firstly, the length and type of window function are set; then when fault occurs, enter step 1: the polarity of first half-wave extremes is analyzed; if the ratios of extremes between neighboring lines are positive, the bus bar is the fault line, else, the SK relative energy entropies are calculated, and then enter step 2: if the obtained entropy multiple is bigger than the threshold or equal to the threshold, the overhead line of max entropy corresponding is the fault line, if not, enter step 3: the line of max entropy corresponding is the fault line. At last, the applicability of the proposed algorithm is presented, and the comparison results are discussed.

Abstract: Background . Asthma and diabetes are both diseases that affect a wide range of people worldwide. As a common treatment for diabetes, metformin has also been reported to be effective in improving asthma outcomes. We conducted a combined analysis to examine the efficacy of metformin in reducing asthma exacerbation in patients with concurrent asthma and diabetes. Methods . We searched the PubMed, Embase, and CENTRAL databases for articles published prior to April 2020 to find observational studies of individuals with concurrent asthma and diabetes that compared the risk of asthma exacerbation between metformin users and nonusers. Two researchers separately screened the studies, extracted data, and evaluated the risk of bias. The primary outcome was the adjusted risk of asthma exacerbation. The secondary outcomes were the adjusted risk of asthma-related hospitalization and emergency room visits. Review Manager was used for data analysis and plotting. I 2 and χ 2 tests were used to estimate heterogeneity. A random effects or fixed effects model was used depending on the heterogeneity. Odds ratios were calculated for dichotomous variables. Results . We included two studies with a total of 25252 patients. The pooled effect size showed that metformin was inversely associated with a risk of asthma exacerbation (OR = 0.65, 95% CI 0.28–1.48; χ 2  = 5.42, P = 0.02 ; I 2  = 82%), asthma-related emergency department visits (OR = 0.81, 95% CI 0.74–0.89; χ 2  = 0.36, P = 0.55 ; I 2  = 0%), and hospitalizations (OR = 0.43, 95% CI 0.14–1.29; χ 2  = 4.01, P = 0.05 ; I 2  = 75%). Conclusion . This meta-analysis suggested that metformin decreased the risk of asthma-related emergency room visits for patients with concurrent asthma and diabetes. Metformin reduced the risk of asthma-related hospitalization and exacerbation but was not statistically significant. More randomized trials involving larger samples should be considered, and the mechanisms of these effects need to be fully elucidated.

Abstract: A new mathematical modeling method, namely, the finite element method and the lumped mass method (LMM-FEM) mixed modeling, is applied to establish the overall multinode dynamic model of a four-stage helicopter main gearbox. The design of structural parameters of the shaft is the critical link in the four-stage gearbox; it affects the response of multiple input and output branches; however, only the meshing pairs were frequently shown in the dynamic model in previous research. Therefore, each shaft is also treated as a single node and the shaft parameters are coupled into the dynamic equations in this method, which is more accurate for the transmission chain. The differential equations of the system are solved by the Fourier series method, and the dynamic response of each meshing element is calculated. The sensitivity analysis method and parameter optimization method are applied to obtain the key shaft parameters corresponding to each meshing element. The results show that the magnitude of dynamic response in converging meshing pair and tail output pair is higher than that of other meshing pairs, and the wall thickness has great sensitivity to a rotor shaft. In addition, the sensitivity analysis method can be used to select the corresponding shaft node efficiently and choose parameters appropriately for reducing the system response.
