    Abstract: The influence of banded structure on the performance of petroleum pipe was introduced firstly, and the characteristics and application scope of different rating methods of banded structure studied, and the banded structure in different specimens rated using this standards/methods. The banded structure rating of petroleum pipe steel requires proper and reasonable standards/methods for different microstructures. The current standards/methods could not integrate standard diagram comparison with calculation, and can not cover the banded structure rating for all pipeline steel microstructures. Therefore, in order to satisfy the inspection needs of petroleum pipe steel, a new rating standard is required to be established.

    Abstract: Nowadays, the welding quality of circumferntial welds is the main influencing factor of the service behaviors of long-distance transport pipeline, and the accidents caused by the circumferential welding defects have get extensive attention. To figure out the leaking reason of circumferential weld of the steel 20 buried pipeline, with macro inspection, nondestructive testing, physical and chemical properties, methods of medium leakage and fracture analysis, we found that the welding defects in the weld toe are mainly responsible for pipeline leaking. The welding defects of circumferential weld destroy the continuity of welding, which result in the stress concentration and cracks. Under the combined action of corrosion, erosion, working stress and welding residual stress, the cracks extend along the welding weak areas and penetrates the welding metal, finally leading to the leakage failure of the welds, also some suggestions are given to prevent similar accidents.

    Abstract: The fractured coiled tubing of TS90 steel grade Φ50.8 mm ×3.96 mm in a certain oilfield was analyzed through macroscopic observation, magnetic powder inspection, physical and chemical properties testing, microstructure analysis and SEM analysis. The results showed that the coiled tubing fracture belonged to fatigue fracture and the fatigue crack originated from the area of cyclic friction on the outer surface of the tubing. The cyclic axial plastic stress of the tubing in service caused micro-cracks in the source area and finally led to fatigue fracture failure of the tubing.
