Abstract: Retinopathy of prematurity (ROP) continues to be a major cause of visual impairment and blindness in premature infants and children. Objectives To investigate the incidence of severe ROP receiving treatment in extremely preterm (EP) infants in China over time. The risk factors for ROP treatment were also assessed. Methods This was a multicentre retrospective study and a subanalysis of baseline data from the “Outcomes of EP infants in China 2010–2019” study. This study was conducted in 68 tertiary neonatal care centres from 31 provinces of China. Infants with a gestational age of 23 0 –27 6  weeks and admitted to a neonatal unit within the first 72 h of life between 2010 and 2019 were enrolled. Incidence of ROP was analysed in infants who survived to 32 weeks postmenstrual age and screened for ROP. Multivariable modified Poisson regression models were used to identify risk factors for ROP treatment. Results Among 7295 eligible infants, 4701 (64.5%) survived to 32 weeks postmenstrual age and met ROP screening criteria. Of the 3756 infants who screened and with ROP data, 2320 (61.8%) developed ROP of any stage. The overall incidence of ROP treatment was 12.6%, decreasing from 45.5% at 23 weeks to 8.3% at 27 weeks. During the 10‐year period, the incidence of ROP treatment did not change, although the incidence of any ROP increased over time. Independent risk factors associated with ROP treatment included lower gestational age, small for gestational age, multiple birth, severe intraventricular haemorrhage, patent ductus arteriosus and supplemental oxygen duration. Conclusions The incidence of EP infants receiving ROP treatment showed no change during this 10‐year period in China. Prevention of prematurity and foetal growth restriction, judicious use of oxygen and reducing comorbidities are promising factors that may reduce the incidence of ROP needing treatment in these high‐risk infants.

Abstract: e16013 Background: Different primary tumor sites could impact colorectal cancer (CRC)’s survival outcomes and treatment effects. Previous studies had found that gut micro-biome distributions were different between left and right colon cancer(LCC, RCC). Out study aimed to further investigate the association between micro-biome and T lymphocytes among different tumor sites of patients with metastatic CRC. Methods: Between April 2018 and Mars 2019, we enrolled 40 metastatic CRC patients in Xiyuan Hospital of China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences, Beijing, China. We collected patients’ stool samples for micro-biome analysis by 16s rRNA sequencing approaches, as well as patients’ blood samples to analyses T lymphocyte subsets by flow cytometry methods. The study had been proved by ethics committee of Xiyuan Hospital (2016XLA122-1). All patients consented before enrollment. Results: Among 40 patients, 28% were female, with average age of 63±15 years old. There were 10 RCC, 9 LCC and 21 rectal cancer(RC) patients. Alpha diversity analysis showed that sobs index of the micro-biome of patients with RC and RC was significantly higher than whom were RCC(254.89±99, 247±89 versus.[vs.]101.17±51, p= 0.001). PCoA analysis on OTU level detected that first principal component[PC1] (26.24%) could be separated significantly between RCC and LCC( p= 0.048), as well as between RC and RCC (PC1,14.17%, p= 0.024). Community analysis showed that the proportion of Bacteroidetes was significantly higher in patients with RCC than whom with LCC and RC( p= 0.009). Conversely, the proportion of Firmicutes, Proteobacteria and Verrucomicrobia were higher in LCC patients than others( p= 0.37, 0.047 and 0.032 respectively). Canonical Correlation Analysis (CCA) analysis proved that the CD4+ and CD8+ T cells counts were environmental factors, which were significantly associated with certain micro-biome and samples from different tumor sites( p= 0.037 and 0.01 respectively). Trends showed that CD4+ T cells were positively related with samples of RC and bacteria parabacteroides and bifidobacterium, while CD8+ T cells were positively related with samples of RCC and bacteria Lachnospira, Sutterella and Bacteroides. Conclusions: In our study, we found that patients with LCC and RC had more beneficial gut micro-biome than whom with RCC. In addition, such difference might be associated with body T cell immunity.

Abstract: 196 Background: Cancer survivors often experience substantial psychological distress, such as anxiety and depression, due to cancer diagnosis and treatment. As psychological support is still not a standard part of survivorship care in China, little is known about Chinese oncologists’ attitudes towards referring cancer survivors to this service. Methods: We conducted a cross-sectional survey among oncologists who were attending the 18 th annual meeting of Chinese Society of Clinical Oncology (CSCO, September 16 th - 20 th 2015) in Xiamen, China. Participants voluntarily completed a questionnaire measuring their demographics and occupational information. The outcome variable was willingness to refer cancer survivors to psychological support. We used a multivariate logistic regression model to evaluate the factors associated with such willingness. Results: Among 351 responders, 53% were male, with a mean age of 38±9 years. Half of the oncologists were senior attendings, 34% were junior attendings, and 17% were residents. More than half of the physicians (58%) had an additional Masters or PhD degree. The majority of oncologists (263, 79%) were willing to refer their patients to psychological support as part of survivorship care. Physicians over 40 years old were more likely to recommend psychological support than their younger colleagues (85% versus 76%, p = 0.048). In multi-variable logistic regression model, controlled by gender and education level, physicians 〉 40 years were associated with more willingness to refer their patients to psychological support than physicians ≤ 40 years (odds ratio [OR] 2.9, 95% confidential interval [C.I.] 1.4-6.1, p= 0.01); compared to residents, junior attendings were more likely to recommend psychological support (OR 2.8, 95% C.I. 1.1-7.1, p= 0.03). Conclusions: The majority of Chinese oncologists were willing to refer cancer survivors for psychological support; age and position appeared to impact such willingness. By further educating young Chinese oncologists about the importance of psychological care during survivorship, we can help develop a health care delivery system that better meets Chinese cancer survivors’ psychosocial needs.

Abstract: Background. With the development of the economy, socioeconomic factors, such as inequalities in the status of regional economies and the subsequent effects on health systems, have influenced the status of health. We explored the association between age-related cataracts and socioeconomic indicators, including the regional economy, health systems, and energy industries. Methods. This was a prospective, multicenter, Chinese population-based, cross-sectional study. A total of 830 participants from seven centers were enrolled. Data on the best-corrected visual acuity (BCVA), Lens Opacities Classification System III (LOCS III) score, Visual Function Index-14 (VF-14) score, total and subscale scores of the 25-item National Eye Institute Visual Functioning Questionnaire (NEI-VFQ-25), per capita disposable income (PCDI), medical resource-related indicators, and investments in the energy industry were obtained. Associations among these parameters were analyzed. Results. The PCDI ranking was correlated with the VF-14 score (R = −0.426, P 〈 0.01 ), total score of NEI-VFQ-25 (r = −0.500, P 〈 0.01 ), and BCVA (r = 0.278, P 〈 0.01 ). The number of health agencies (r1 = 0.267, r2 = −0.303, r3 = −0.291,), practicing or assistant practicing doctors (r1 = -0.283, r2 = 0.427, r3 = 0.502,), registered nurses (r1 = −0.289, r2 = 0.409, r3 = 0.469, P 〈 0.01 ), and health technicians (r1 = −0.278, r2 = 0.426, r3 = 0.500, P 〈 0.01 ) per 10,000 of the population was each correlated with the BCVA, VF-14 score, and total score of NEI-VFQ-25, respectively. Health expenditure per capita was correlated with the VF-14 score (r = 0.287, P 〈 0.01 ) and total score of NEI-VFQ-25 (r = 0.459, P 〈 0.01 ). The LOCS III P score was correlated with investments in the energy industry (r = 0.485, P 〈 0.001 ). Conclusions. Patients in higher economic regions with greater medical resources show a greater demand to undergo cataract surgery at a better subjective and objective visual function. The energy industry has a significant effect on cataracts, especially the posterior subcapsular cataract, and thus more attention should be paid to people in regions with abundant energy industries.

    In: Antibiotics, MDPI AG, Vol. 12, No. 2 ( 2023-02-17), p. 403-
Abstract: Enrofloxacin (ENR) is one of the most common drugs used in poultry production to treat bacterial diseases, and there is a high risk of drug interactions (DDIs) between polyether anticoccidial drugs added to poultry feed over time. This may affect the efficacy of antibiotics or lead to toxicity, posing a potential risk to the environment and food safety. This study aimed to investigate the DDI of ENR and salinomycin (SAL) in broilers and the mechanism of their DDI. We found that SAL increased the area under the curve and elimination half-life of ENR and ciprofloxacin (CIP) by 1.3 and 2.4 times, 1.2 and 2.5 times, respectively. Cytochrome 3A4 (CYP3A4), p-glycoprotein (P-gp) and breast cancer resistance protein (BCRP) were important factors for the DDI between ENR and SAL in broilers. ENR and SAL are substrates of CYP3A4, P-gp and BCRP in broilers; ENR and SAL inhibited the expression of CYP3A4 activity in a time- and concentration-dependent. Meanwhile, ENR downregulated the expression of P-gp and BCRP in a time- and concentration-dependent manner. A single oral administration of SAL inhibited CYP3A4, P-gp, and BCRP, but long-term mixed feeding upregulated the expression of CYP3A4, P-gp, and BCRP. Molecular docking revealed that ENR and SAL compete with each other for CYP3A4 to affect hepatic metabolism, and compete with ATP for P-gp and BCRP binding sites to inhibit efflux. ENR and SAL in broilers can lead to severe DDI. Drug residues and resistance following co-administration of ENR and SAL and other SAL-based drug-feed interactions warrant further study.
