Abstract:
What's new? Inflammatory conditions including chronic pancreatitis and obesity are risk factors for pancreatic cancer, and diet can modulate inflammation. While the inflammatory potential of diet has previously been associated with pancreatic cancer in two case–control studies, possible recall and selection biases cannot be excluded. Here, the authors examined the association between the inflammatory potential of diet as assessed with the Dietary Inflammatory Index and pancreatic cancer risk in the Prostate, Lung, Colorectal and Ovarian Cancer Screening Trial prospective cohort. No association was found between inflammatory potential of diet and pancreatic cancer risk; however, heterogeneous results were obtained with different follow‐up times.
