Abstract:
The analysis is aimed at studying the tourist development conditions of a cultural event in a city, based upon examples of Nantes and Lille. For an event management policy to be fully optimum in terms of repercussions, it requires setting the event into time, at the scale of the territory. The strategy implies turning an up-to-now short-lived event into a permanent or repetitive activity. Giving tourists a warm welcome is at stake. Success lies within the efficiency of a local pool of actors, connecting both cultural and tourist protagonists into one project. In Nantes however the system does not seem to work well, unlike in Lille. The quality of the place, which brings attractiveness and territorial recognition to a city as a tourist destination, is also a key of success.
