Abstract: Recently, intrinsic antiferromagnetic topological insulator MnBi 2 Te 4 has drawn intense research interest and leads to plenty of significant progress in physics and materials science by hosting quantum anomalous Hall effect, axion insulator state, and other quantum phases. An essential ingredient to realize these quantum states is the magnetic gap in the topological surface states induced by the out-of-plane ferromagnetism on the surface of MnBi 2 Te 4 . However, the experimental observations of the surface gap remain controversial. Here, we report the observation of the surface gap via the point contact tunneling spectroscopy. In agreement with theoretical calculations, the gap size is around 50 meV, which vanishes as the sample becomes paramagnetic with increasing temperature. The magnetoresistance hysteresis is detected through the point contact junction on the sample surface with an out-of-plane magnetic field, substantiating the surface ferromagnetism. Furthermore, the non-zero transport spin polarization coming from the ferromagnetism is determined by the point contact Andreev reflection spectroscopy. Combining these results, the magnetism-induced gap in topological surface states of MnBi 2 Te 4 is revealed.

Abstract: The 52% energy of the solar radiation is contributed by near-infrared radiation (NIR, 780–2500 nm). Therefore, the material design for the energy-saving smart window, which can effectively shield NIR and has acceptable visible transmittance, is vital to save the energy consumed on the temperature control system. It is important to find a non-toxic stable material with excellent NIR-shielding ability and acceptable visible transmittance. The systematic first-principles study on Li x Sn y WO 3 ( x = 0, 0.33, 0.66, and y = 0, 0.33) exhibits that the chemical stability is a positive correlation with the doping concentration. After doping, the Fermi-energy upshifts into the conduction band, and the material shows metal-like characteristics. Therefore, these structures Li x Sn y WO 3 (except the structure with x = 0.33 and y = 0) show pronounced improvement of NIR shielding ability. Our results indicate that when x = 0 and y = 0.33, the material exhibits the strongest NIR-shielding ability, satisfying chemical stability, wide NIR-shielding range (780–2500 nm), and acceptable visible transmittance. This work provides a good choice for experimental study on NIR shielding material for the energy-saving window.

Abstract: Quantum computing is expected to break the computing power bottleneck with the help of quantum superposition and quantum entanglement. In order to fabricate fault-tolerant quantum computers for encoding quantum information, it is important to improve the cryogenic mobility of silicon-based metal oxide semiconductor field effect transistors (MOSFETs) with a thin gate dielectric layer as much as possible. Based on a thin SiO 2 /HfO 2 stacked dielectric, we investigate the effect of post-deposition annealing (PDA) temperature on the MOSFET cryogenic transport properties. The results show that silicon atoms will diffuse into the HfO 2 to form silicates during PDA, leading to the HfO 2 dielectric constant decrease. As the PDA temperature increases, the proportion of monoclinic hafnium oxide decreases and the tetragonal phase increases gradually. The oxygen vacancy content increases gradually, resulting in fixed charge density increases and the mobility decreases. The contribution of the forming gas annealing (FGA) to the mobility enhancement is clarified and the HfO 2 recrystallization process is revealed from the perspective of long-time annealing. Finally, the mobility peak of silicon MOSFETs with thin SiO 2 /HfO 2 dielectrics is enhanced to 1387 cm 2 (V·s) −1 at 1.6 K, which provides a technical pathway for the development of silicon-based quantum computation.

Abstract: Joint characteristics of rock mass are the key factors of tunnel surrounding rock failure. This paper relies on the two-lane mountain tunnel project and takes the IV class surrounding rock as the research object. By means of on-site investigation, numerical simulation and on-site monitoring, the effects of different joint development characteristics under blasting vibration on tunnel surrounding rock deformation, instability mode and force mechanism of rock bolts are studied. It is found that the instability mode of tunnel is obviously affected by the larger joint dip angles. When the dip angle of one group of consecutive joints is kept unchanged and the dip angle of another group of joints is changed, the vault settlement decreases first and then increases with the increase of joint dip angles. The influence of horizontal joint spacing on surrounding rock deformation and vault settlement is much greater than that of vertical joint. Under the most disadvantageous working conditions of the two sets of consecutive joints, the effective range of the axial force of rock bolts depends on joint dip angles and has little correlation with joint spacing. The axial force of rock bolts decreases with the increase of horizontal joint spacing, while the influence of vertical joint spacing on bolt is less.

Abstract: Based on the cohesion energies and lattice constants of some Ag–Ta non-equilibrium solid phases obtained by ab initio calculations, an embedded atom method (EAM) potential of the equilibrium immiscible Ag–Ta system was derived. Applied the derived potential, molecular dynamics simulation was carried out to predict, at an atomic scale, the quantitative correlation of the lattice constant of the Ag-based solid solutions versus the Ta concentration. The simulation results predict that the fcc crystalline structure can be preserved in the Ag-based solid solutions until the Ta concentration reaches 10 at.% and that the correlation of the lattice constant of the Ag-based solid solutions versus the Ta concentration is in good agreement with that deduced by Vegard's Law only when the Ta concentration is less than 6 at.%.

Abstract: Transverse large deformation is one of the main diseases of metro shield tunnels, gravely threatening the safe operation of tunnel structure. Reinforcing bonded steel plates is a primary means for repairing excessively deformed tunnels. Nevertheless, evaluations and analyses on the reinforcing effect of bonded steel plates are currently unclear. Therefore, destruction tests were performed on the tunnel without the reinforced structure and on the excessively deformed tunnel with the reinforced structure respectively with the similar model test method in this paper, so as to analyse deformation behaviours and failure modes of segment lining and compare the reinforcing effect. Test results show that the carrying capacity of the tunnel structure can still be improved through reinforcing the staggered-jointed assembling shield tunnel with bonded steel plates under large deformation; also, the reinforcement of bonded steel plates can effectively prevent the tunnel from deforming. The failure mode of the reinforced structure consists of the reinforcement interface debonding failure and steel plate bending failure. To be specific, the debonding failure being frequently detecting in seams is composed of slab staggering and expansive debonding. Research achievements in this paper may provide theoretical and data support for similar reinforcement projects.
