Abstract: Objectives: To describe nursing students’s perceptions regarding their educational environment and identify its related factors. Subjects and methods: A descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted among 1347 nursing students in ten nursing schools across Vietnam. Results: Almost all nursing students (75.68%) reported their learning environment at a good level, and the mean score of the total DREEM was 120.75 ± 20.78. The multiple linear regression results indicated that the higher DREEM score was associated with a lower learning workload (β = -0.61, p 〈 0.05), and better generic skills (β = 4.56, p 〈 0.05). Conclusion: To enhance the students’ educational environment, nursing schools and faculties should attemp to focus on a group of nursing students who reported a higher workload and less perceived generic skills. Key words: nursing students’ perceptions, education environment, nurses.

Abstract: Background: Breast milk is the most valuable source of food for infants, no food is comparable. However in many countries around the world including Vietnam, the breastfeeding prevalence has been declining. A report of the Ministry of Health showed that only 19.6% of infants in Vietnam were exclusively breastfed for the first 6 months. The study was conducted in Hoi An with the aim at describing the situation of exclusive breastfeeding for the first 6 months of the mothers in Hoi An city, Quang Nam province and; identifying some factors affecting exclusive breast feeding for the first 6 months in the study area. Methods: A crosssectional descriptive study was conducted in Hoi An city in December 2014. 516 mothers of infants aged from 6 to 12 months were directly interviewed on the basis of a structured questionnaire. Information about general characteristics of mothers and their infants, their knowledge and attitude of breastfeeding and the feeding types of their baby for the first 6 months was collected. Multivariable logistic regression model was used to identify factors affecting exclusive breastfeeding for the first 6 months. Results: The exclusive breastfeeding prevalence for the first 6 months is 22.3%. Knowledge in breastfeeding and attitude toward exclusive breastfeeding for the first 6 months are factors that significantly related to exclusive breastfeeding prevalence for the first 6 months (OR = 3.3; p=0.001 and OR=10.4; p 〈 0.001, respectively). Conclusion: The exclusive breastfeeding rate for the first 6 months in Hoi An city is low. The promoting antenatal education in exclusive breastfeeding is necessary solution to improve exclusive breastfeeding rate for the first 6 months. Abstract: Background: Asthma is either a chronic respiratory disease or a serious global health problem that is common in all ages at a high rate. It seriously affects not only the physical health but also the health-related quality of life (HRQoL) of patients. Objectives: (1) To determine HRQoL score among asthmatic outpatients at Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital; (2) To assess factors associated with HRQoL among asthmatic outpatients at Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital. Subjects and methods: A descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted on 102 asthmatic outpatients at Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital by using a self-administered questionnaire. Results: The male-to-female patient ratio was 1.68/1. The mean age of study participants was 59.2 ± 15.39 (26-95). A large number of patients were unemployed (55.9%) and had a low education level (54.9%). Participants with comorbidities and time of being diagnosed with asthma over 10 years accounted for the highest percentage, 69.6%, and 48.0% respectively, but most patients were not hospitalized due to an acute asthma attack within the past year (88.2%). The most common type of inhaler being used was DPI or the combination of MDI and DPI (35.3%) whereas the prevalence of patients only using the Metered-Dose Inhalers (MDI) was 29.4%. There were 40.2% of patients who were severely affected. The mean value of the total HRQoL score was 4.27 ± 0.747. The domain that most impacted HRQoL was “Activity limitations” whereas “Symptoms” affected the least. Men had higher HRQoL than women (6.441 times); The participants who did not have asthma-related family history were likely to have better HRQoL than others (3.3 times); The patients who used MDI or DPI alone had higher HRQoL scores than the group used the combination of two devices (2.788 times). Conclusions: Asthma remarkably affected asthmatic patients’ quality of life. The factors associated with HRQoL were gender, family history of asthma, and the type of inhaler. Key words: sthma, health-related quality of life, outpatients, Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital.

Abstract: Introduction: Currently, Vietnam is entering the aging population stage and is one of the fastest aging countries worldwide. Old age increases the risk of chronic diseases, particularly mental health disorders. Objective: investigated the prevalence of depression and examined the associated factors with depression among older people. Methods: A cross-sectional study was implemented in 760 older people in some communities of Thua Thien Hue province from January to August 2020. Data were collected by directinterviewing based on a structured questionnaire, including demographic, socio-economic, geriatric Depression scale with 30 questions (GDS-30), health status and physical activities. The GDS-30 was used to evaluate the prevalence of depression. The multiple logistic regression model was applied to exam the associated factors with depression. Results: Our findings indicated that the prevalence of depression among elderly people was 28.6%, comprising mild (23.6%) and seveve (5%). The higher Odds of depression was observed in the low economic status (poor/near-poor) (OR= 2.51; 95% CI: 1.15 – 5.48), live alone (OR= 2.43; 95% CI: 1.02-5.78), co-morbidities chronic disease(OR =1,59; 95% CI: 1.01 – 2.52), self-evaluation not good in overall health status (OR =2.34; 95% CI: 1,50 – 3,66), dissatisfaction in health (OR = 2.55; 95% CI:1.59 – 4.08), lack of physical activities (OR =2.79; 95% CI: 1.83 - 4.27), and low quality of life (OR = 2.79; 95% CI: 1.84-4.24). Conclusions: This research suggests that older people are commonly exposing to depression in the communities. Therefore, the priority strategies for reducing depression should be implemented, particularly in the high-risk groups.

Abstract: The Phu Khanh Sedimentary Basin is situated in the deep-water offshore area, east of the continental shelf of Central Vietnam. This area is said to have quite good oil and gas potential, but very few geological and petroleum research projects have been carried out in the past. In this article, the authors update new research results based on new seismic interpretation and well data conducted in recent years. The obtained results show that: Stratigraphy of the Phu Khanh Basin was subdivided into 5 large sequences, including: a. Eocene(?)/Oligocene unit is mainly clastic sediments of fluvial/lacustrine, delta plain and marine environments, b. Lower Miocene stratigraphy: Includes deltaic clastic sediments and shelfal carbonates; c. Middle Miocene stratigraphy: includes delta-plain, shallow marine terrigenous sediments and shelfal carbonate, d. Upper Miocene and Pliocene - Quaternary units include continental shelf and deep-sea terrigenous sediments. Each unit of stratigraphy and corresponding sedimentary environment is related to each stage of the geological and tectonic evolution of the basin. In general, the trend changes from the fluvial/lacustrine environment to the deltaic, shelfal and deep marine environments upward. Establishing the names of the formations and the presence of the Eocene sedimentary rocks in the Phu Khanh Basin is still an open issue. More detailed data, especially well data, are needed to obtain a more convincing interpretation.

Abstract: The Phu Khanh Basin is a Tertiary sedimentary basin located in deep a water area adjacent to the continental shelf of Central Vietnam, which has been begun to form since the Eocene(?)/Oligocene to the Quaternary. This area has previously only been briefly studied based on satellite magnetic, gravity data and some 2D multichannel seismic lines. In this article, the authors present the most recently interpreted and merged gravity data to update the research results on geological structure, tectonics and the history of geological evolution of the Phu Khanh Basin, which are considered significant contributions for hydrocarbon exploration campaigns in the future. Our new results show that mechanism of the the Phu Khanh Basin formation was started by a rifting process with most of it located in the central basin, controlled by four main fault systems, including the NW - NE system, the NE - SW system, sub-meridian system and less active is the sub-latitude system. The evolution of the basin has undergone through four main phases of different tectonic deformation, which are characterized by its typical geodynamic regimes and tectonic activities. These evolutionary phases can be briefly described as follows: (i) Paleocene peneplanation phase, (ii) The active rifting phase in Eocene/Oligocene-Early Miocene, (iii) The Middle Miocene thermal subsidence phase and finally (iv) The Late Miocene-Quaternary shelf building phase. However, the issue of determining the Eocene age at the bottom of the basin has so far remained unclear and elucidated by the lack of deep wells penetrating the deepest region of the basin.

Abstract: Fault-seal analysis has long been applied for predicting potential hydrocarbon column for mitigating risk in exploration and appraisals. Than Nong 1B structure in Block 05-1(a), located nearby Dai Hung field, is a fault-bounding structure; thus, the fault seal capacity plays a major role in trapping hydrocarbon. In this study, the H50 reservoir is taken as an example of how fault-bounded prospects are evaluated in Block 05-1(a). For the case of Than Nong 1B, to meaningfully determine the potential of the structure, the fault geometric analysis is conducted to fully understand the 3D geometry of the structure. Moreover, vertical displacement of the faults is inspected to ensure the quality of input data and to understand how faults and horizons affect each other. After structural description conducted, the study applies all common methods of fault-seal analysis from the 1980s to the newest workflow published in 2016, such as 3D sand-shale juxtaposition analysis, SGR analysis, height-column-prediction algorithms by Yielding et al. (2010). The results of these methods are then combined by using Trap analysis workflow, proposed by Peter Bretan in 2017, to determine a unique location of fault leak point defining the trappable hydrocarbon column of the structure. The results suggest that the faults in Than Nong 1B prospect are able to hold a maximum column of 183 m hydrocarbon in H50 reservoir, significantly higher than the column of 125 m hydrocarbon defined by Fault-leak point. Furthermore, this study also proves that the Trap analysis is an effective method for evaluating structures with high level of fault linkage.
