Abstract:
Objective: The metaphor of "friend" has been widely used since the 1990s to create a perception of trust in organisations. In the context of hospitals, we often encounter concepts such as "baby-friendly hospital, mother-friendly hospital, care-friendly hospital, environment-friendly hospital, elderly-friendly hospital". The aim of this study is to determine the level of patient friendliness of a training and research hospital. Method: This study was planned as a descriptive and cross-sectional study. The data were obtained by using the Patient Friendly Scale, which was created by the researchers by reviewing the literature. The Personal Information Form consists of 8 questions about the demographic characteristics of the employees and 37 items in the scale. Findings: Cronbach alpha value was found as, 989. It is seen that 54.6% of the participants were female, 78.9% were married, 44.3% received service in the outpatient clinic, 32.1% were primary school graduates, 26.8% were 30 years old or younger, 42.7% had an income between 4000-5000 TL, 40.7% had applied to the institution 8 or more times and 86.3% lived in the urban area. The average score of Patient Friendly was 8.23, the average score of Compassionate communication dimension was 8.33, the average score of Trust dimension was 8.31 and the average score of empathic dimension was 8.32. Conclusion: As a result, the perception of patient friendliness was found to be at a very high level in the hospital where the research was conducted. It was also found to be at a very high level according to the mean scores of compassionate communication, trust and empathic interest. Again, the perception of compassionate communication, trust, empathic communication and patient friendliness did not differ according to gender, marital status, region of residence, age, income status and number of hospital admissions. It differs according to the department and education level.
