Abstract: Introduction: Reporting liability of family physicians/general practitioners is the keystone for proper surveillance of infectious diseases. Aim: The aim of the study was to find out why some of the family physicians neglect to report infectious diseases to the health authorities and determine their motivation and attitude towards the infectious disease reporting system. Method: Self-fill-in questionnaire was used to obtain data. Of the 228 family physicians who were called to participate in the study 116 family physicians sent back evaluable questionnaires. Descriptive statistic method was used to analyze the data and determine the reporting frequencies and ratios. Results: Family physicians reported nearly 50% of all reported cases of infectious diseases. The main reason of underreporting was the lack of knowledge about the rules of the reporting system. According to most family physicians, an online based reporting system would be much more efficient instead of a paper based one. Conclusions: The authors conclude that education of family physicians would be mandatory in order to improve reporting of infectious diseases. Orv. Hetil., 2014, 155(31), 1228–1235.

Abstract: Chest wall desmoids are rare, borderline tumors. Radical surgical excision is considered to be the primary treatment. Tendency of desmoids to infiltrate the chest wall, the shoulder girdle, lung parenchyma, brachial plexus and vital components of the mediastinum provides a difficult surgical challenge in the efforts of achieving microscopically negative margins. Implantation of synthetic meshes and reconstructive plastic surgical techniques might be necessary to perform in order to preserve stability of the thorax, and to achieve optimal functional and aesthetic results. Multidisciplinary surgeries may result in a high rate of morbidity even in specialized centers. Within the framework of a retrospective multicenter review, authors assessed surgical techniques implemented in the case of patients who underwent surgical management for sporadically appearing chest-wall and intra-thoracic desmoids, and reviewed the relevant literature. Abstract: In 1988-1989 a stream of East Germans sought refugee in Hungary at the Embassy of West Germany in Budapest. The three countries taking part in the issue made different solutions to deal with the increasing problem. The East German leadership tried to call back the refugees and calm down the emigration process, but it had lost its confidence. West Germany tried to solve the problem not only on the level of consulship but exten-sively, in part with recognizing the status those waiting for West German citizenship and those for refugee status - without any success. In the interest of the resolution and bring the Hungarian leadership to their point of view, they tried to make use of the international organizations. However, the Hungarian leadership made efforts to stay out of the issue to get the two German states make an agreement. But there was no chance for that so Buda-pest gave up its quasi neutrality and tried to solve the problem opening the border by avoiding Hungary to turn into a refugee camp of the region. Besides making this ad hoc arrangement, the whole issue needed more radical crisis management, not only in Hungary.
