Abstract:
Franceschini, Rita, Cecilia Oesch-Serra et Bernard Py - "Language contact in Switzerland : Ruptures and re-building meaning within discourse in a migration situation". Immigration entails « semiotic losses »: the mental schemes which the subject could use to interpret his social environment are not any more always, or not entirely, applicable. One of the tasks the immigrant must undertake is to give sense to his new day-by-day experience. This task has a strong discursive aspect: it is by speaking about himself and his own situation that the subject builds up new interpretative schemes. This process is described and analyzed through several examples.
