    Abstract: Chinese indigenous pigs in the Taihu Lake region are well known for their high fecundity and other excellent characteristics. To better understand the characteristics of these breeds in this area as well as to provide the government and breeders the molecular basis for formulating a reasonable conservation policy, we explored the structure of haplotype blocks and genetic diversity of the 7 populations which is relevant for the management and conservation of these important genetic resources using next-generation sequencing data. In this study, a total of 131 300 single-nucleotide polymorphisms with minor allele frequencies ⩾0.05 were obtained for further analysis. In general, there are similar within-breed genetic diversities (He, Ho, P n , A r ) among these 7 pig populations in the Taihu Lake region. Average values for the inbreeding coefficients estimates in the 7 populations are 0.110 (F1), 0.056 (F2), and 0.078 (F3). All the breeds have seen a continuous decline in Ne estimates over time with FJ and SW populations having a very similar curve. Moreover, the Ne of SMS pig breeds were smaller than other Chinese pig breeds, indicating that SMS pig breeds underwent stronger selection pressure than other Chinese pig breeds. The average genetic distances among the 7 populations in the Taihu Lake region were 0.235 (MMS), 0.240 (SMS), 0.269 (EH), 0.248 (MI), 0.221 (FJ), 0.254 (JX), and 0.212 (SW). A summary of the number of haplotype blocks and haplotype diversity was also presented. This study provide a deep understanding of the current situation of conservation in this region, thereby uncovering the pertinent insight to better formulate more reasonable preservation policies for the government departments and breeding planners to follow-up.

    Abstract: Enhanced external counterpulsation (EECP) treatment for cerebral ischemic stroke patients with differing severity of stenosis, is subject to uncertainties due to the varying effects of the cerebral autoregulation mechanism on haemodynamics. The current study reports the development of a cerebral multi-autoregulation (MR) mathematical model, based on cerebral arteriole regulation of neurogenic, vascular smooth muscle reflex and shear stress mechanisms which takes into account the severity of stenosis. The model was evaluated by comparison to authentic clinical measurements of cerebral autoregulatory efficiency. Then it was applied to a 0D/3D geometric multi-scale haemodynamic model of a cerebral artery. Haemodynamic indicators were calculated under different pressurization durations of EECP to evaluate the efficacy for different stenosis lesions. Moderate stenosis of 50% to 60% produced excessive time-averaged wall shear stress in the distal area of the stenosis ( 〉 7 Pa) during prolonged pressurization and may result in damage to vascular endothelial cells. However, prolonged pressurization did not result in haemodynamic risk for severe stenosis of 70% to 80%, indicating that the duration of pressurization may be extended with increasing severity of stenosis. The current MR model accurately simulated cerebral blood flow and has relevance to the simulation of cerebral haemodynamics in a clinical setting.

    Abstract: Juxta-anastomotic stenosis, the most common lesion in arteriovenous fistula, creates a dilemma for optimal balloon size choosing during PTA. Objectives: To descript the effect of a novel tapered scoring balloon catheter (DK Medtech, Suzhou, China) which has a conical shape with an increasing diameter from the front part of the balloon to the end, and three non-slip elements attached on the surface of the balloon. Research design: Case series of 10 patients used this balloon catheter was retrospectively analyzed. Subjects: Patients with juxta-anastomotic stenosis. Measures: A retrospective review of 10 cases using the novel tapered, scoring balloon catheter in our center was performed. Results: All cases were clinical technique success. The average total procedure time was 16.7 min with 2:14 of fluoroscopy time. No complications such as vascular rupture or dissection occurred. The primary patency rates at 6 and 12 month were 80% and 50% separately. Conclusions: This tapered scoring balloon provides an economical, safe, and efficient management for juxta-anastomotic stenosis.
