Abstract:
Neuer Kanzlerplatz Bonn with a challenging interception structure Due to their architectural demands in terms of cross‐sectional design and column shape, exposed multi‐storey columns in representative foyer areas set high demands on planning and execution. These tasks become particularly exciting when these columns are used as load collectors for rising storeys with simultaneous enlargement of the column grid. In the following, the multi‐storey interception structure of the cantilevered part of the high‐rise building is described for the building project Neuer Kanzlerplatz in Bonn including the four haunched mega foyer‐columns with a rhombic cross‐section as an architectural highlight. Special features in fabrication, assembly and fire protection as well as the influence of these production steps on the structural conception and design are explained.
