    Abstract: Medical image segmentation has long been a compelling and fundamental problem in the realm of neuroscience. This is an extremely challenging task due to the intensely interfering irrelevant background information to segment the target. State-of-the-art methods fail to consider simultaneously addressing both long-range and short-range dependencies, and commonly emphasize the semantic information characterization capability while ignoring the geometric detail information implied in the shallow feature maps resulting in the dropping of crucial features. To tackle the above problem, we propose a Global-Local representation learning net for medical image segmentation, namely GL-Segnet. In the Feature encoder, we utilize the Multi-Scale Convolution (MSC) and Multi-Scale Pooling (MSP) modules to encode the global semantic representation information at the shallow level of the network, and multi-scale feature fusion operations are applied to enrich local geometric detail information in a cross-level manner. Beyond that, we adopt a global semantic feature extraction module to perform filtering of irrelevant background information. In Attention-enhancing Decoder, we use the Attention-based feature decoding module to refine the multi-scale fused feature information, which provides effective cues for attention decoding. We exploit the structural similarity between images and the edge gradient information to propose a hybrid loss to improve the segmentation accuracy of the model. Extensive experiments on medical image segmentation from Glas, ISIC, Brain Tumors and SIIM-ACR demonstrated that our GL-Segnet is superior to existing state-of-art methods in subjective visual performance and objective evaluation.

    Abstract: The upgrading of bioethanol to n-butanol has recently been a focus of considerable attention due to the advantages of n-butanol over bioethanol as a sustainable fuel. The efficiency of this reaction is highly dependent on the development of catalysts, where understanding how catalysts perform is essential. However, traditional catalysts are normally composed of several kinds of active sites that work together synergistically in reactions, making it challenging to identify the role that individual active sites play. Herein, we synthesized three chromium-based MOFs ((MIL-101(Cr), where MIL stands for Matériaux Institut Lavoisier) with different Lewis acidities but without any basic sites. The linear relationship between Lewis acidities and their dehydration and condensation abilities suggests that there is a competition between the ethanol dehydration to diethyl ether and acetaldehyde condensation on Lewis acids. Upon the introduction of Pd, the Lewis acidity also dominates the particle size of Pd and then the dehydrogenation and hydrogenating abilities of catalysts.

    Abstract: Background: Prostate cancer (PCa) is one of the most common cancers in males around the globe, and about one-third of patients with localized PCa will experience biochemical recurrence (BCR) after radical prostatectomy or radiation therapy. Reportedly, a proportion of patients with BCR had a poor prognosis. Cumulative studies have shown that RNA modifications participate in the cancer-related transcriptome, but the role of pseudouridylation occurring in lncRNAs in PCa remains opaque. Methods: Spearman correlation analysis and univariate Cox regression were utilized to determine pseudouridylation-related lncRNAs with prognostic value in PCa. Prognostic pseudouridylation-related lncRNAs were included in the LASSO (least absolute shrinkage and selection operator) regression algorithm to develop a predictive model. KM (Kaplan-Meier) survival analysis and ROC (receiver operating characteristic) curves were applied to validate the constructed model. A battery of biological cell assays was conducted to confirm the cancer-promoting effects of RP11-468E2.5 in the model. Results: A classifier containing five pseudouridine-related lncRNAs was developed to stratify PCa patients on BCR and named the “ψ-lnc score.” KM survival analysis showed patients in the high ψ-lnc score group experienced BCR more than those in the low ψ-lnc score group. ROC curves demonstrated that ψ-lnc score outperformed other clinical indicators in BCR prediction. An external dataset, GSE54460, was utilized to validate the predictive model’s efficacy and authenticity. A ceRNA (competitive endogenous RNA) network was constructed to explore the model’s potential molecular functions and was annotated through GO (Gene Ontology) and KEGG (Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes) pathway analyses. RP11-468E2.5 was picked for further investigation, including pan-cancer analysis and experimental validation. Preliminarily, RP11-468E2.5 was confirmed as a tumor promoter. Conclusion: We provide some evidence that pseudouridylation in lncRNA played a role in the development of PCa and propose a novel prognostic classifier for clinical practice.

    Abstract: The armature and rail thermal ablation caused by the current concentration phenomenon will affect the service life of the guideway during the operation of the compound four-rail electromagnetic emitter. With different rail materials simulated and analyzed using the finite element analysis method and the ANSYS software, the composite four-rail electromagnetic launcher’s current density distribution and electromagnetic field distribution were designed to optimize and improve the thermal ablation of the armature and rail of the composite electromagnetic launcher. The results show that the copper steel composite electromagnetic launcher can improve the current concentration and electromagnetic shielding ability.

    Abstract: Background: Conbercept is a new anti-vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) drug. Here, we systematically conducted the efficacy, safety, compliance, and pharmacoeconomic evaluation of intravitreal conbercept (IVC) compared with other treatments in patients with neovascular age-related macular degeneration (nAMD), diabetic macular edema (DME), or pathologic myopia choroidal neovascularization (pmCNV). Methods: Databases of PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Library, ClinicalTrials.gov , SinoMed, China National Knowledge Infrastructure, and WanFang Data were systematically searched from the inception to July 27, 2021. Randomized clinical trials and pharmacoeconomic studies comparing IVC with control groups in adults with nAMD, DME, or pmCNV were reviewed and selected. Meta-analyses were performed using the fixed-effects model when pooled data were homogeneous. Heterogeneous data were analyzed using the random-effects model. Primary outcomes included visual improvement rate, mean change in visual acuity or best corrected visual acuity, and pharmacoeconomic outcomes. Additional outcomes were the mean change in fundus examination values, adverse events (AEs), quality-of-life measures, and number of injections. Results: Among 3,591 screened articles, 22 original studies with 1,910 eyes of patients were finally included. For nAMD and DME, IVC was significantly associated with better visual acuity or best corrected visual acuity improvement and fundus quantitative measures than placebo, laser photocoagulation (LP), or intravitreal triamcinolone acetonide (IVT). However, IVC showed non-inferior efficacy to intravitreal ranibizumab (IVR) according to low quality of evidence, and there was lack of trials comparing the priority of IVC to other anti-VEGF regimens. No definitive increased risk of ocular or non-ocular AEs were observed in the study groups. All patients with AEs recovered after symptomatic treatments, and no severe AEs occurred. Patients treated with IVC might have higher quality-of-life scores than those in IVR in nAMD or LP in DME. Additionally, IVC showed cost–utility advantages in nAMD and cost-effectiveness advantages than IVR in pmCNV in China. Conclusion: IVC is well-tolerated and effective for improving vision acuity and quantitative measures in fundus condition in patients with nAMD and DME compared with LP, IVT, and placebo, but gains comparable efficacy to IVR. However, well-designed, large-sample, and long-term evaluation of IVC shall be conducted in additional studies worldwide.

    Abstract: The effects of 5-methylcytosine in RNA (m5C) in various human cancers have been increasingly studied recently; however, the m5C regulator signature in prostate cancer (PCa) has not been well established yet. In this study, we identified and characterized a series of m5C-related long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) in PCa. Univariate Cox regression analysis and least absolute shrinkage and selector operation (LASSO) regression analysis were implemented to construct a m5C-related lncRNA prognostic signature. Consequently, a prognostic m5C-lnc model was established, including 17 lncRNAs: MAFG-AS1 , AC012510.1 , AC012065.3 , AL117332.1 , AC132192.2 , AP001160.2 , AC129510.1 , AC084018.2 , UBXN10-AS1 , AC138956.2 , ZNF32-AS2 , AC017100.1 , AC004943.2 , SP2-AS1 , Z93930.2 , AP001486.2 , and LINC01135 . The high m5C-lnc score calculated by the model significantly relates to poor biochemical recurrence (BCR)-free survival ( p   & lt; 0.0001). Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves and a decision curve analysis (DCA) further validated the accuracy of the prognostic model. Subsequently, a predictive nomogram combining the prognostic model with clinical features was created, and it exhibited promising predictive efficacy for BCR risk stratification. Next, the competing endogenous RNA (ceRNA) network and lncRNA–protein interaction network were established to explore the potential functions of these 17 lncRNAs mechanically. In addition, functional enrichment analysis revealed that these lncRNAs are involved in many cellular metabolic pathways. Lastly, M AFG-AS1 was selected for experimental validation; it was upregulated in PCa and probably promoted PCa proliferation and invasion in vitro . These results offer some insights into the m5C's effects on PCa and reveal a predictive model with the potential clinical value to improve the prognosis of patients with PCa.
