    Abstract: Objectives: To develop a Brief Adolescent Respiratory System Health Assessment Scale-Student Version (BARSHAS-SV) and test the validity and reliability of the scale. Methods: Considering common respiratory system diseases and respiratory system symptoms as a theoretical basis, researchers developed a Brief Adolescent Respiratory System Health Assessment Scale-Student Version-I (BARSHAS-SV-I). After six medical experts reviewed the BARSHAS-SV-I, and six adolescents tested the BARSHAS-SV-I, researchers developed an updated BARSHAS-SV-II. Researchers randomly selected two middle schools in Baoding, China. Thousand twenty nine valid questionnaires were recovered. Researchers evaluated the validity and reliability of the scale and obtained the final version of the scale (BARSHAS-SV). The exploratory factor analysis (EFA) and the confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) were used to evaluate the construct validity of the scale. The content validity index (CVI) was used to evaluate the content validity of the scale. The Cronbach's α coefficient and the mean inter-item correlation coefficient (MIIC) were used to assess the reliability of the scale. Results: BARSHAS-SV Cronbach's α = 0.910, content validity = 0.941, and factor cumulative variance contribution rate = 64.047% conducting EFA. Conducting CFA, Chi square value (χ2) = 233.806, degrees of freedom (df) = 106, Chi square value/degree of freedom (χ2/df) = 2.206, root-mean-square error of approximation (RMSEA) = 0.063, normed fit index (NFI) = 0.922, goodness of fit index (GFI) = 0.917, Tueker-Lewis index (TLI) = 0.942, comparative fit index (CFI) = 0.955, incremental fit index (IFI) = 0.956. BARSHAS-SV consisted of 4 dimensions and 17 items. Four factors were as follows: Factor 1, mild respiratory system diseases (Cronbach's α coefficient = 0.781); Factor 2, severe respiratory system diseases (Cronbach's α coefficient = 0.829); Factor 3, respiratory system symptoms (Cronbach's α coefficient = 0.835); Factor 4, treatment and recovery of respiratory system diseases (Cronbach's α coefficient = 0.845). Conclusions: BARSHAS-SV is a valid and reliable method that can be applied to assess adolescent respiratory system health status. BARSHAS-SV may help teachers and medical staff in schools to quickly and conveniently evaluate the adolescent respiratory system health status and identify respiratory issues.

    Abstract: Premature ovarian insufficiency (POI) induced by chemotherapy is an intractable disorder with a considerable incidence that commonly results in insufficient fertility and concomitant complications in female patients. Due to limitations in the current progress in POI diagnosis and treatment, there is an urgent need to develop novel remedies to improve ovarian function and protect fertility. The ameliorative effect of human umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cells (hUCMSCs) and exosomes derived from them in POI treatment could be a new hope for patients. Herein, we identified exosomes from hUCMSCs (hUCMSC-Exos). Then, systematic infusion of hUCMSC-Exos was accomplished via tail intravenous injection to investigate the feasibility of the treatment of rats with chemotherapy-induced POI by intraperitoneal injection of cyclophosphamide (CTX) and busulfan (BUS). Ovarian functions in the indicated group were evaluated, including oestrous cycle, serum sex hormone levels, follicle counts, ovarian pathological changes, proliferation and apoptosis of granulosa cells (GCs), and reproductive ability testing. Furthermore, the potential influence of hUCMSC-Exos on ovarian tissues was illuminated by conducting RNA-seq and multifaceted bioinformatics analyses. POI rats with hUCMSC-Exos transplantation exhibited a decrease in follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) and apoptosis of GCs but an increase in oestradiol (E2), anti-Müllerian hormone (AMH), and the number of ovarian follicles and foetuses in the uterus. And the immunomodulation- and cellular vitality-associated gene sets in rats had also undergone moderate changes. Our data indicated the feasibility of hUCMSC-Exos in improving ovarian function and protecting fertility in chemotherapy-induced POI rats. HUCMSC-Exos can improve the local microenvironment of ovarian tissue in POI rats by participating in immune regulation, cellular viability, inflammation regulation, fibrosis and metabolism, and other related signal pathways.

    Abstract: As a bridge between genome and phenotype, metabolome is closely related to plant growth and development. However, the research on the combination of genome, metabolome and multiple agronomic traits in foxtail millet ( Setaria italica ) is insufficient. Here, based on the linkage analysis of 3,452 metabolites via with high-quality genetic linkage maps, we detected a total of 1,049 metabolic quantitative trait loci (mQTLs) distributed in 11 hotspots, and 28 metabolite-related candidate genes were mined from 14 mQTLs. In addition, 136 single-environment phenotypic QTL (pQTLs) related to 63 phenotypes were identified by linkage analysis, and there were 12 hotspots on these pQTLs. We futher dissected 39 candidate genes related to agronomic traits through metabolite-phenotype correlation and gene function analysis, including Sd1 semidwarf gene, which can affect plant height by regulating GA synthesis. Combined correlation network and QTL analysis, we found that flavonoid-lignin pathway maybe closely related to plant architecture and yield in foxtail millet. For example, the correlation coefficient between apigenin 7-rutinoside and stem diameter reached 0.98, and they were co-located at 41.33-44.15 Mb of chromosome 5, further gene function analysis revealed that 5 flavonoid pathway genes, as well as Sd1 , were located in this interval . Therefore, the correlation and co-localization between flavonoid-lignins and plant architecture may be due to the close linkage of their regulatory genes in millet. Besides, we also found that a combination of genomic and metabolomic for BLUP analysis can better predict plant agronomic traits than genomic or metabolomic data, independently. In conclusion, the combined analysis of mQTL and pQTL in millet have linked genetic, metabolic and agronomic traits, and is of great significance for metabolite-related molecular assisted breeding.

    Abstract: Purpose: By analyzing the CT manifestations and evolution of COVID in non-epidemic areas of southeast China, analyzing the developmental abnormalities and accompanying signs in the early and late stages of the disease, providing imaging evidence for clinical diagnosis and identification, and assisting in judging disease progression and monitoring prognosis. Methods: This retrospective and multicenter study included 1,648 chest CT examinations from 693 patients with laboratory-confirmed COVID-19 infection from 16 hospitals of southeast China between January 19 and March 27, 2020. Six trained radiologists analyzed and recorded the distribution and location of the lesions in the CT images of these patients. The accompanying signs include crazy-paving sign, bronchial wall thickening, microvascular thickening, bronchogram sign, fibrous lesions, halo and reverse-halo signs, nodules, atelectasis, and pleural effusion, and at the same time, they analyze the evolution of the abovementioned manifestations over time. Result: There were 1,500 positive findings in 1,648 CT examinations of 693 patients; the average age of the patients was 46 years, including 13 children; the proportion of women was 49%. Early CT manifestations are single or multiple nodular, patchy, or flaky ground-glass–like density shadows. The frequency of occurrence of ground-glass shadows (47.27%), fibrous lesions (42.60%), and microvascular thickening (40.60%) was significantly higher than that of other signs. Ground-glass shadows increase and expand 3–7 days after the onset of symptoms. The distribution and location of lesions were not significantly related to the appearance time. Ground-glass shadow is the most common lesion, with an average absorption time of 6.2 days, followed by consolidation, with an absorption time of about 6.3 days. It takes about 8 days for pure ground-glass lesions to absorb. Consolidation change into ground glass or pure ground glass takes 10–14 days. For ground-glass opacity to evolve into pure ground-glass lesions, it takes an average of 17 days. For ground-glass lesions to evolve into consolidation, it takes 7 days, pure ground-glass lesions need 8 days to evolve into ground-glass lesions. The average time for CT signs to improve is 10–15 days, and the first to improve is the crazy-paving sign and nodules; while the progression of the disease is 6–12 days, the earliest signs of progression are air bronchogram signs, bronchial wall thickening, and bronchiectasis. There is no severe patient in this study. Conclusion: This study depicts the CT manifestation and evolution of COVID in non-epidemic origin areas, and provides valuable first-hand information for clinical diagnosis and judgment of patient’s disease evolution and prediction.

    Abstract: The purpose of this study was to observe the relationship between physical performance and mild cognitive impairment (MCI) in the presence or absence of type 2 diabetes in elderly hemodialysis patients. Methods In this multicenter cross-sectional study, 396 clinically stable and aged ≥60 years hemodialysis patients (255 men; mean age: 68.3 ± 5.9 years) were included from seven dialysis units in Shanghai, China. The Chinese version of the Modified Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE) and the Instrumental Activities of Daily Living (IADL) scale were utilized to assess MCI. The performance-based assessments consisted of three physical tests, grip strength (GS), Timed Up and Go Test (TUGT), and 4-m walking test, which respectively represent muscle strength, mobility, and walking speed (WS). Logistic regression and multivariate linear regression were used for analysis. Results Hemodialysis patients with diabetes had a high prevalence of MCI (20.6%). The odds ratio (OR) of MCI for the interacted items [(TUGT) * (diabetes) and (WS) * (diabetes)] was significant (p  & lt; 0.05). In diabetes patients, TUGT was positively associated with MCI, and WS was negatively associated with MCI after adjusting covariates [OR = 0.129; 95% confidence interval (CI) = 0.028–0.704, p = 0.021]. However, no significant association was found between physical performance and MCI in the non-diabetes hemodialysis patients (p & gt; 0.05). Further analysis showed that TUGT was negatively associated with attention and calculation and language. WS was positively associated with recall and language in diabetic hemodialysis patients. Conclusions Physical performance was associated with MCI in diabetic hemodialysis patients rather than the non-diabetes group. Whether increasing mobility or WS can positively influence MCI in individuals with type 2 diabetes requires further study.

    Abstract: Malnutrition, dynapenia, and sarcopenia are prevalent conditions among patients with maintenance hemodialysis (MHD). They are related to numerous adverse health outcomes. The aim of this study was to compare the effect of three nutritional screening tools on predicting the risk of dynapenia and sarcopenia in patients with MHD. Methods From July 2020 to April 2021, a total of 849 patients with MHD were enrolled at seven different healthcare facilities in Shanghai, China in this multi-center cross-sectional study. Geriatric nutritional risk index (GNRI), malnutrition inflammation score (MIS), and creatinine (Cr) index were used for nutritional assessment. The cutoff values of muscle mass and strength to define dynapenia, pre-sarcopenia, and sarcopenia were based on the consensus by the Asia Working Group of Sarcopenia in 2019. Results Among 849, almost 60% were malnourished with the majority suffering from dynapenia (27.7%), followed by sarcopenia (22.7%), and pre-sarcopenia (6.2%).The area under the receiver–operating characteristic curve for GNRI was 0.722 [95% confidence interval (CI) = 0.684–0.760] and 0.723 (95% CI = 0.663–0.783) in predicting sarcopenia and pre-sarcopenia. The GNRI [odds ratio (OR) =6.28, 95% CI: 4.05–9.73] , MIS (OR =1.91, 95% CI: 1.31–2.78), and the Cr index (OR =2.73, 95% CI: 1.71–4.34) were all significantly associated with the risk of sarcopenia. More importantly, the sarcopenia predictability of the GNRI appears greater than the MIS and Cr index, while MIS was similar to the Cr index. Similarly, the superiority of GNRI prediction was also found in pre-sarcopenia, but not in dynapenia. Conclusion All the three nutritional screening tools were significantly associated with an increased risk of sarcopenia. The sarcopenia predictability of the GNRI was greater than the MIS and Cr index.

    Abstract: Using the data of Chinese A-share listed manufacturing firms, the study explores the influence of ERP implementation on accounting information quality from reliability and relevance. Also, the study verifies the difference of the influence in firms which have different sizes and different ownership types. Compared with the firms not implementing ERP, accounting information quality of the firms implementing ERP improves significantly. In addition, the positive influence differs in firms of different sizes and different ownership types. In large-sized firms, ERP implementation has stronger influence on reliability of accounting information. In non-state-owned firms, ERP implementation has stronger influence on accounting information quality in respect to reliability and relevance. Our study supplies the new evidence to gauge the impact of ERP implementation on accounting information quality in an emerging economy context.

    Abstract: The emergence of the Omicron variant has seen changes in the clinical and radiological presentations of COVID-19 in pediatric patients. We sought to compare these features between patients infected in the early phase of the pandemic and those during the Omicron outbreak. Methods A retrospective study was conducted on 68 pediatric COVID-19 patients, of which 31 were infected with the original SARS-CoV-2 strain (original group) and 37 with the Omicron variant (Omicron group). Clinical symptoms and chest CT scans were examined to assess clinical characteristics, and the extent and severity of lung involvement. Results Pediatric COVID-19 patients predominantly had normal or mild chest CT findings. The Omicron group demonstrated a significantly reduced CT severity score than the original group. Ground-glass opacities were the prevalent radiological findings in both sets. The Omicron group presented with fewer symptoms, had milder clinical manifestations, and recovered faster than the original group. Discussion The clinical and radiological characteristics of pediatric COVID-19 patients have evolved with the advent of the Omicron variant. For children displaying severe symptoms warranting CT examinations, it is crucial to weigh the implications of ionizing radiation and employ customized scanning protocols and protective measures. This research offers insights into the shifting disease spectrum, aiding in the effective diagnosis and treatment of pediatric COVID-19 patients.
