Abstract:
The plasma properties, and the electron and ion energy distribution functions in particular, are studied in the slide-away regime of the TRIAM-1 tokamak, with the streaming parameter averaged over the plasma cross-section 〈 ξ 〉 being varied up to 0.4. In the range 〈 ξ 〉 \gtrsim0.1, the soft X-ray spectrum has a tail component, and the electrical resistivity derived from the loop voltage/plasma current characteristics is lower than the Spitzer-Härm resistivity, which is estimated from the experimentally-obtained Z eff -value, electron temperature and electron density. Anomalous ion heating, however, does not occur, and the ion temperature agrees well with Artsimovich's scaling law.
