Abstract: Introduction: Aconite is a form of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) that has been widely used to treat diarrhea for thousands of years. However, it is not clear whether the anti-diarrhea role of aconite aqueous extract (AA) is associated with regulation of the gut microbiota or with bile acid (BA) metabolism. This study aimed to confirm whether AA exerts its anti-diarrhea effects by regulating the gut microbiota and BA metabolism. Methods: The therapeutic effect of AA in a mouse model of diarrhea was measured based on analysis of body weight, fecal water content, diarrhea scores, intestinal propulsion rate, colonic pathology, and colonic immunohistochemistry. In addition, 16S rRNA high-throughput sequencing was conducted to analyze the effect of AA on the gut microbiota, and targeted metabolomics was employed to analyze the effect of AA on metabolism of BAs. Results: The results showed that treatment with AA reduced fecal water content and diarrhea scores, inhibited intestinal propulsion rate and pathological changes in the colon, and increased AQP3 and AQP4 content in the colon. In addition, AA was found to be capable of regulating the gut microbiota. Effects included increasing its richness (according to the ACE and Chao1 indices); altering the gut microbiota community structure (PCA, PCoA, and NMDS); increasing the relative abundance of norank_f_Muribaculaceae , Ruminococcus , Lachnospiraceae_NK4A136_group , Prevotellaceae_UCG-001 , and norank_f_norank_o_Clostridia_UCG-014 ; and decreasing the relative abundance of Escherichia-Shigella , unclassified_f_Ruminococcaceae , Ruminococcus_torques_group , and Parasutterella . More importantly, AA significantly increased fecal TCA (a primary BA) and DCA, LCA, GDCA, dehydro-LCA, and 12-keto-LCA (secondary BAs), thus restoring BA homeostasis. Moreover, AA increased the ratios of DCA/CA, DCA/TCA, and LCA/CDCA and decreased the ratios of TLCA/LCA, GLCA/LCA, and TUDCA/UDCA. Conclusion: The anti-diarrhea effect of AA was associated with restoration of the gut microbiota and BA metabolism-related homeostasis. The results of this study provide insights into the application of AA and the treatment of diarrhea.

Abstract: Inactive ovaries (IO) and ovarian (follicular or luteal) cysts (FC or LC) are two common ovarian diseases leading to infertility in dairy cattle. Both disorders are associated with altered metabolites and hormones. There are currently no known effective biomarkers that can be used for early diagnosis of ovarian diseases. The purpose of this study was to identify the plasma biomarkers of ovarian diseases in Holstein dairy cows that facilitate an early diagnosis of the diseases and control its progression. The experiment was performed from 3 weeks postpartum and last for 7 weeks. Seventy-six multiparous Holstein cows (mean age, 4.36 years; weight, 635.63 kg) were divided into healthy control group (HC, n = 22), FC group ( n = 18), LC group ( n = 18) and IO group ( n = 18) by rectal palpation or ultrasonography during the last 2 weeks before trial end. Blood was collected via tail vein for measurement of plasma energy metabolites, liver function indicators, minerals, and hormones at 3 and 8 weeks postpartum. Data were analyzed by Mann-Whitney U, Kruskal-Wallis, Spearman correlation, binary logistic regression analysis and receiver operating characteristic analysis, where applicable. At 8 weeks postpartum, FC cows had a more severe body condition score loss and these had greater levels of non-esterified fatty acids (NEFA) and estradiol, and lesser levels of alanine aminotransferase (ALT), progesterone and insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF-1) levels than HC cows ( P & lt; 0.05). LC cows had a lower milk yield, higher NEFA and progesterone levels, and lower calcium, phosphorus and magnesium levels than HC cows ( P & lt; 0.05). IO cows had a lower body condition score, higher NEFA levels, and lower ALT, calcium, phosphorus, magnesium, estradiol, progesterone and IGF-1 levels than HC cows ( P & lt; 0.05). At 3 weeks postpartum, cows with ovarian diseases had greater ( P & lt; 0.05) concentrations of NEFA, and lesser concentrations of ALT, calcium, phosphorus and IGF-1 than HC cows. Early warning values for ovarian diseases were plasma NEFA concentrations & gt;0.50 mmol/L, or calcium concentrations & lt;2.02 mmol/L. Therefore, plasma NEFA and calcium could be used as early-warning indicators for ovarian diseases in dairy cows.

Abstract: This study investigates adjustments in capital structures for agricultural cooperatives and differences before and during the agricultural downturn which started in 2013. We estimate a simultaneous equation model to test for cooperatives’ capital structure strategies based on two main theories from the corporate finance literature: the trade-off theory and the pecking order theory. Estimation results reveal that agricultural cooperatives in the U.S. generally adjust to short-term financial targets for equity and debt, supporting the trade-off theory while there is little support for the pecking order theory within the agricultural cooperatives sector.

Abstract: In this study, we propose a novel method of surface stretch forming, named the Surface Stretch Forming based on Collaborative Control of Sheet Metal Deformation and Die Contact State (SF-CCDC). By controlling the motion paths of the discrete clamps, the contact process with the die, and the deformation process of the sheet metal can be changed. The processes of conventional stretch forming (SF-C) and SF-CCDC were numerically simulated. The results show that in SF-CCDC, the shearing effect of the die edge on the sheet metal can be reduced through the collaborative control of sheet metal deformation and contact with the die. Compared to SF-C, the maximum thinning rate is reduced by 50%, and the risk of stretch cracking is lower in SF-CCDC. Furthermore, both the center and edge areas of the sheet make contact with the die simultaneously, ensuring adequate deformation constraints and preventing wrinkling defects. Experiments were conducted to demonstrate the reliability and adaptability of the SF-CCDC method for forming double-curved surfaces.

Abstract: This study aimed to investigate the influence of intraocular lens (IOL) weight on long-term IOL stability in highly myopic eyes. Materials and Methods A total of 205 highly myopic cataract eyes of 205 patients implanted with the MC X11 ASP (Group A, 86 eyes) or 920H IOL (Group B, 119 eyes) were included in this retrospective study. Eyes were divided into 3 subgroups according to the IOL power: low (≥-5 to & lt;5 D), medium (≥5 to & lt;14 D), and high (≥14 D) IOL power. At 3 years after surgery, IOL decentration and tilt, high-order aberrations, and anterior capsular opening (ACO) area were measured. The influence of IOL weight on long-term IOL stability was evaluated. Results Group B had a significantly greater IOL weight than Group A (Group B vs. Group A: 28.31 ± 2.01 mg vs. 25.71 ± 4.62 mg, P & lt; 0.001). Correspondingly, Group B presented significantly greater overall and inferior decentration than Group A, especially for low and medium IOL power (all P & lt; 0.05). In both groups, overall and vertical decentration was significantly correlated with IOL weight (all P & lt; 0.05). Group B showed a significantly greater ACO area than Group A ( P & lt; 0.05). Multivariate analysis showed that decentration in Group A was affected by IOL weight, while decentration in Group B was affected by IOL weight and AL. Conclusions Higher IOL weight may lead to greater long-term IOL decentration in highly myopic eyes, while the haptic design may play a role in anterior capsular contraction.

Abstract: Matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) play a pivotal role in the regulation of cell invasion. Placental trophoblast cell invasion is a precisely regulated event. Dysregulation of MMPs has been linked to various placental diseases. Growth differentiation factor-8 (GDF-8), also known as myostatin, is a member of the transforming growth factor-beta (TGF-β) superfamily. GDF-8 and its putative receptors are expressed in human extravillous cytotrophoblast cells (EVTs). Although the pro-invasive effect of GDF-8 in human EVT cells has been recently reported, the underlying molecular mechanism remains largely unknown. In this study, we investigate the effects of GDF-8 on the expression of the two most important MMPs, MMP2 and MMP9, in the HTR-8/SVneo human EVT cell line. Our results show that GDF-8 significantly upregulates the expression of MMP2. The expression of MMP9 is not affected by GDF-8. Using a siRNA-mediated knockdown approach, we reveal that the stimulatory effect of GDF-8 on MMP2 expression is mediated by the ALK5-SMAD2/3 signaling pathway. Additionally, the knockdown of MMP2 attenuates the GDF-8-induced cell invasiveness. These findings deepen our understanding of the biological roles of GDF-8 in the regulation of human trophoblast cell invasion.

Abstract: The paper designs a method and system for automatic extraction of professional vocabulary in the electric power field based on data mining and matching algorithms. The system extracts professional vocabulary related to power marketing from the corpus in the field of power marketing, converts it into corresponding English and adds it to the professional vocabulary of power marketing. Then we will collect the relevant vocabulary of the power system and the corresponding translation and add it to the professional vocabulary of power marketing. The thesis establishes a two-level index structure for the professional vocabulary of electric power marketing. We search the professional vocabulary database of electric power marketing, the order of retrieval is electric power system vocabulary, general dictionary, electric power marketing field extraction vocabulary, and the search result is returned to the user after the retrieval. The experiment verified that the system facilitates the efficient retrieval of user vocabulary, and then realizes the automatic conversion of professional vocabulary in the marketing standardization design results, so as to improve the quality and efficiency of professional vocabulary conversion.
