Abstract: High-quality large 1 T phase of Ti X 2 ( X = Te, Se, and S) single crystals have been grown by chemical vapor transport using iodine as a transport agent. The samples are characterized by compositional and structural analyses, and their properties are investigated by Raman spectroscopy. Several phonon modes have been observed, including the widely reported A 1 g and E g modes, the rarely reported E u mode (∼183 cm −1 for TiTe 2 , and ∼185 cm −1 for TiS 2 ), and even the unexpected K mode (∼85 cm −1 ) of TiTe 2 . Most phonons harden with the decrease of temperature, except that the K mode of TiTe 2 and the E u and “ A 2 u /Sh” modes of TiS 2 soften with the decrease of temperature. In addition, we also found phonon changes in TiSe 2 that may be related to charge density wave phase transition. Our results on Ti X 2 phonons will help to understand their charge density wave and superconductivity.

Abstract: BACKGROUND: Breast diseases are a significant health threat for women. With the fast-growing BSGI data, it is becoming increasingly critical for physicians to accurately diagnose benign as well as malignant breast tumors. OBJECTIVE: The purpose of this study is to diagnose benign and malignant breast tumors utilizing the deep learning model, with the input of breast-specific gamma imaging (BSGI). METHODS: A benchmark dataset including 144 patients with benign tumors and 87 patients with malignant tumors was collected and divided into a training dataset and a test dataset according to the ratio of 8:2. The convolutional neural network ResNet18 was employed to develop a new deep learning model. The model proposed was compared with neural network and autoencoder models. Accuracy, specificity, sensitivity and ROC were used to evaluate the performance of different models. RESULTS: The accuracy, specificity and sensitivity of the model proposed are 99.1%, 98.8% and 99.3% respectively, which achieves the best performance among all methods. Additionally, the Grad-CAM method is used to analyze the interpretability of the diagnostic results based on the deep learning model. CONCLUSION: This study demonstrates that the proposed deep learning method could help physicians diagnose benign and malignant breast tumors quickly as well as reliably.

Abstract: The DNA N4-methylcytosine (4mC) site levels of those suffering from digestive system cancers were higher, and the pathogenesis of digestive system cancers may also be related to the changes in DNA 4mC levels. Identifying DNA 4mC sites is a very important step in studying the analysis of biological function and cancer prediction. Extracting accurate features from DNA sequences is the key to establishing a prediction model of effective DNA 4mC sites. This study sought to develop a new predictive model, DRSN4mCPred, which aimed to improve the performance of the predicting DNA 4mC sites. Methods The model adopted multi-scale channel attention to extract features and used attention feature fusion (AFF) to fuse features. In order to capture features information more accurately and effectively, this model utilized Deep Residual Shrinkage Network with Channel-Wise thresholds (DRSN-CW) to eliminate noise-related features and achieve a more precise feature representation, thereby, distinguishing the sites in DNA with 4mC and non-4mC. Additionally, the predictive model incorporated an inverted residual block, a Multi-scale Channel Attention Module (MS-CAM), a Bi-directional Long Short Term Memory Network (Bi-LSTM), AFF, and DRSN-CW. Results and Discussion The results indicated the predictive model DRSN4mCPred had extremely good performance in predicting the DNA 4mC sites across different species. This paper will potentially provide support for the diagnosis and treatment of gastrointestinal cancer based on artificial intelligence in the precise medical era.

Abstract: The extraction behavior of five rare earth ions (RE 3+ ) was investigated in ionic liquid (IL) extraction system using 1-butyl-3-methyl-imidazolium hexafluorophosphate ionic liquid ([Bmim]PF 6 ) as extraction solvent and benzoyl acetone (HA) as extractant. The extraction percentage of RE 3+ using [Bmim]PF 6 was less than 8% without HA. When sufficient HA was included in IL phase, the extraction percentage of RE 3+ could be higher than 98%. The extracted species in the RE 3+ -[Bmim]PF 6 -HA system was neutral REA 3 and the recovery of RE 3+ extracted into [Bmim]PF6 can be achieved using the mixture of hydrazine hydrate and ethylenediamine tetraacetic acid (EDTA) as stripping agent. [Bmim] PF 6 can be recycled in the experiment.

Abstract: Glycyrrhiza inflata Batalin is an important medical plant of the genus Glycyrrhiza . It is one of the key protected plants in China, distributed in the desert areas of southern Xinjiang and Dunhuang of Gansu Province. It has a strong resistance to drought, heat, and salt stresses, and plays a pivotal role in sand fixtion in desert areas. In this study, based on 157 valid distribution records and eight environmental factors including climate factors and altitude, the potential distribution area of G. inflata in the last glacial maximum, middle Holocen, modern, and future (2050) times in China were predicted, using the optimized MaxEnt model and ArcGis 10.2 software. The results showed that the predicted distribution area was highly consistent with the current distribution range, and the area under the receiver operating characteristic (AUC) curve was 0.986, indicating that the prediction performance was excellent. The key climatic factors affecting the distribution were precipitation in December and the average annual precipitation. Meanwhile, the suitable area of G. inflata in modern times was 1,831,026 km 2 , mainly distributed in Turpan-Hami Basin, Tarim Basin, and Dunhuang of Gansu Province, with Lop Nur Town of Xinjiang as the distribution center. In 2050, the potential suitable area for G. inflata in China will be 1,808,090 km 2 , 250,970 km 2 of which will be highly suitable, which is 150,600 km 2 smaller than that in modern times, with a reduction rate of 60.0%. Therefore, there is a trend of great reduction in the suitable area of G. inflata . From the last glaciation maximum to the middle Holocene, the geographical distribution center shifted to the southwest margin of the Kumtag Desert, Xinjiang, then later continued to shift to the southwest. This study will provide a basis for understanding the origin and evolution of G. inflata , developing conservation strategies to minimize the impacts of environment change, and utilizing plant resource.

Abstract: Ten of the top 20 polluted cities are in China, while Lanzhou is the most famous one in the ten. Relevant foreign researches show that urban air pollution generated economic losses reached the city of 3% of national income. In this paper, air pollutants, air pollution index (API for short) and meteorological data of 2000-2008 are analyzed using statistical methods and results show that: (1) Air pollution index (API) in Lanzhou shows an obvious seasonal change with high value in winter and low in summer.(2) Its primary air pollutants are particulate pollutants, in total 3113 days during 2000-2008, only 96days of air quality are good and taking 3.08%; there are severe polluted 168 days, moderate polluted 114 days and light polluted 1106 days.(3) Primary pollution particles of 2928 days are inhalable particles, accounting for 94.06%. Second pollution is SO2 and taking 2.97%. (4) Seasonal distribution of pollution, severe pollution and moderate pollution occurs mostly in winter and spring quarters. Seasonal variation shows the number of severe polluted days in the four months of Jan, March, April, and Dec account for 78.6% of total severe polluted days during 2000-2008. The most severe polluted and second polluted days mainly occurred in winter and spring, closely related with winter house heating and spring dust storm. The number of excellent air quality days is more in the rainy days, indicating that deposition of pollutants or the dilution effect precipitation is apparent. (5) There are close relationship between API and meteorological factor such as precipitation, humidity and wind speed.

Abstract: The objective of the study was to identify the causes of smear-positive-culture-negative (S+/C–) outcomes of patients with tuberculosis during the treatment course. Methods A laboratory-based retrospective study was performed at the Beijing Chest Hospital in China. Within the study period, all patients with pulmonary tuberculosis (PTB) who undertook anti-TB treatments and yielded smear positive outcomes with simultaneous culture outcomes on sputa were considered. Patients were classified into three groups: (I) performed LJ medium culture only; (II) performed BACTEC MGIT960 liquid culture only; and (III) performed both LJ culture and MGIT960 culture. The S+/C– rates of each group were analyzed. The clinical medical records regarding patient category, follow-up bacteriologic examination data, and treatment response were investigated. Results In total, 1,200 eligible patients were enrolled, and the overall S+/C– rate was 17.5% (210/1,200). Group I had obviously higher S+/C– rate (37%) than group II (18.5%) and group III (9.5%). When solid and liquid cultures were considered independently, the S+/C– outcome was observed more frequently in the solid culture group than in the liquid culture group (30.4%, 345/1,135 vs. 11.5%, 100/873; p & lt; 0.001, χ 2 = 102.64). Among the 102 S+/C– patients who had follow-up cultures performed, 35 (34.3%) had positive culture outcomes. Whereas among the 67 patients with follow-up information for more than 3 months but without supportive bacteriological evidence, 45 (67.2%, 45/67) had unfavorable prognosis (including relapse and unimproved conditions), and only 22 (32.8%, 22/67) patients had improved conditions. Compared with new cases, retreated cases produced S+/C– outcomes more frequently and had more chances to be cultivated bacilli successfully afterward. Conclusions Among our patients, the sporadic smear positive and culture negative outcomes for sputa are more likely associated with the technical failures of culture than with dead bacilli, and this is especially noteworthy for LJ medium culture.
