    Kurzfassung: Using a narrow line output of tunable pulsed dye laser, the inhomogeneously broadened absorption band of 4I9/2→4G5/2 in Nd3+ doped germate, silicate, phosphate, fluo-rophosphate and fluoroberyllate glasses were selectively excited at low and room temperatures. Wavelength dependence of fluorescence decay were observed to investigate the decay nature and interaction of Nd3+ ions at different site in different glass hosts.

    Kurzfassung: Temperature dependences of multiphonon relaxation rates for 4F3/2 states in Nd3+-glasses were determined by measuring fluorescence intensity and lifetime in the range of 300-600 K. According to the theory of multiphonon relaxation and vibrational spectrum we made a theoretical fitting of curves. Multiphonone processes of 4F3/2 states have been investigated in five Nd3+-glasses. The phonon energy and number involved in the process were determined and the relation between matrix property and phonon relaxation was analysed. Further examination of multiphonon relaxation theory was conducted in this material.

    Kurzfassung: In this paper, an experimental and theoretical investigation on finite-amplitude reflection sound wave of circular piston sources is presented. The reflected field of harmonic waves from the boundary surface have been calculated. Thinking of them as the waves which radiate from the image of the piston source and treating them as the waves that seem to be generated by a new source on the vibrating boundary surface, by means of weak-shock theory, the reflection of the finite-amplitude waves can be predicated.By making use of the boundary wall of a pool, some experiments on second harmonic reflection have been done. It is shown that the average attenuation of the harmonic pressure with distance is consistent with the theory. However, along the longitudinal distance and in the cross sections perpendicular to it there are obvious interference of the harmonic waves, and longitudinal interference lengths have an order of magnitude greater than the traverse ones. According to the theoretical evaluation, it seems to be that the reflection results from the pool wall that has a thickness, a small angle between its two boundary surfaces and a fixed beam width of the primary wave. The theoretical evaluation and the experiments are in agreement with each other.

    Kurzfassung: By determining the relations between the effective distribution coefficient of MgO in the congruent LiNbO3 and the phase-matching temperature and the concentration of MgO, chemical composition which makes the Mg :LiNbO3 to get the highest phase-matching temperature has been found. The problems frequently encountered in heavily doped Mg:LiNbO3 crystal growth, such as growth striations and precipitation etc, have been resolved.The Mg:LiNbO3 crystals with high resistance to light-induced refractive index changes and good optical quality have been grown. Using the crystals for frequency doubling of a continuously pumped acousto-optical Q-switch Nd :YAG laser, second harmonic output with the highest avarage power of 2W have been obtained.

    Kurzfassung: This paper analyses stark splittings of Nd3+ in glasses. The experimental method of determining fluorescence levels is described and the experimental results of stark splittings of the metastable states and ground states for four types of Nd3+-doped silicate glasses are given. In addition, the radiative and non-radiative transition rate of the 4F3/2 state, the stimmulative emission cross-section σ, the radiative quntum efficiency η, the fluorescence branching ratio β and the lifetime τ are also determined experimentally for thirteen types of Nd-doped glasses with different compositions. On the basis of experimental results, the relation between non-radiative transition rate and compositions of the hosts is discussed.

    Kurzfassung: This paper reports the spectra and the excited energy transfer in phosphate glass doped with Nd3+ and Yb3+. The transfer rates are determined experimentally, at different tempcralures. We confirme that the mechanism of energy transfer is a process in which the energy is transferred from 4F3/2(Nd3+) to 2F5/2(Yb3+) and at the same time a single phonon is emitted. The energy back transfer process from Yb3+ to Nd3+ may occur in two possible ways, one is the process 2F5/2(Yb3+)→4F3/2(Nd3+) which is accompanied by the absorption of a single phonon, and the other is the process 2F5/2(Yb3+)→4I15/2(Nd3+), being accompanied by emission of 4 phonons. Therefore Yb3+→Nd3+ transfer rate depends strongly upon the temperature. At room temperature, the transfer time from Nd3+ to Yb3+ and from Yb to Nd are 197μs and 13ms respectively. The efficiency of energy transfer is 47% for Nd3+→Yb3+ and 8% for Yb3+→ Nd3+.
