    Abstract: In this study the optimum replacement percentage of sintered fly ash aggregates in M30 grade of concrete was identified based on 28 days cubical compressive strength value. The optimum replacement of Sintered Fly ash Aggregates (SFA) is 40 %. Before identifying the optimum replacement percentage, the SFAs were tested for suitability test such as crushing strength test, impact test and water absorption test. Further, the optimum 40 % SFAs in concrete is tested for punching shear on the Reinforced Concrete (RC) slabs for a dimension of 1000 mm x 1000 mm x 100 mm. In addition to know the effect of steel fibers in RC slabs subjected to punching. A hook ended steel fibers having an aspect ratio of 55, 80 and 100 is selected and varied by volume of concrete for the punching shear values on RC slabs. The RC slabs concrete contains aspect ratio of steel fibers 55 is varied for 0.25 %, 0.5 %, 0.75 % and 1 % for volume of concrete. In addition to that a constant volume of steel fiber 0.5 % is selected for the aspect ratios of 80 and 100 for the punching shear tests. The punching shear values for the RC slabs shows that partial replacement of SFAs and steel fibers in concrete enhances the punching shear strength. These experimental tested results are compared with finite element programming (ABAQUS) and international codes such as IS 456 and ACI 2011. The experimental punching shear results were higher when compared to international codes.

    Abstract: Monitoring an electric power system with a minimum number of PMUs is related to the domination problem in graph theory. In this paper, we introduce a new graph invariant called global power domination number. A power dominating set S of a graph G = ( V, E ) is a global power dominating set if S is also a power dominating set of G ¯ . The global power domination number γ gp ( G ) is the minimum cardinality of a global power dominating set. In this paper, we initiate the study of global power domination problem and prove its NP-completeness. We also characterize the global power domination number for trees and compute the exact value of γ gp ( G ) for certain families of graph.

    Abstract: Aims: To determine the effectiveness of the Cough trick technique on vaccination prick pain among preschool children. Study Design: Quantitative approach with true experimental research design. Place and Duration of Study: Pranav baby clinic, Chennai, from May 2021 to June 2021. Methodology: True experimental post-test only research design was adopted to conduct the study with a samples of 40 children. Children were randomly allocated into the experimental group (n=20) and the control group (n=20). Demographic variables were collected from mothers of preschoolers using a structured questionnaire. The cough trick technique was administered to the experimental group during intramuscular vaccination whereas the control group received the regular technique of the intramuscular vaccination. The post-test level of pain was assessed by FLACC scale for both the group. The data were tabulated and analyzed by descriptive and inferential statistics using SPSS statistical package. Results: The result of the study shows that in the experimental group, 14(70%) had mild pain and 6(20%) had no vaccination prick pain whereas in the control group, 14(70%) had severe pain and 6(20%) had moderate vaccination prick pain. Independent‘t’ test reveals that there is a significant difference in the level of pain after administration of the cough trick technique between the experimental and control at the level of  P 〈 0.05. Conclusion: The finding of the present study concludes that cough trick technique is an effective and easy method to minimize and reduce the pain during intramuscular vaccination. It is a simple distraction technique that can be effective in helping children cope with the pain of immunization.

    Abstract: Alcohol dependence has been showing a rising trend all over the world including India. Alcohol consumption has health and social consequences via intoxication, alcohol dependence and other biochemical effects of alcohol. Exposure and desensitization, thought-monitoring, relaxation, and acceptance, have all been suggested as potential active ingredients of mindfulness training which could help an individual to find new ways to behave by changing their thought process. Hence the present study was conducted with the aim to determine the effectiveness of vipassana meditation on psychosocial problems among adults with alcohol dependence syndrome. Pre-experimental research design was adapted with 30 participants who met the inclusion criteria was selected by convenience sampling technique. The demographic questionnaire was completed at the beginning of the study. Pre-test assessment on psychosocial problems was assessed using checklist. Vispasana meditation was administered to the participants for 10 days and post-test was conducted at the tenth day using same tool. The data were tabulated and analyzed by using descriptive and inferential statistics. Paired t test reveals that the administration of vipassana meditation was found to be effective in reducing the level of psychosocial problems of alcohol dependence symptoms among adults. The study findings concluded that vipassana meditation has great impact on reduction of psychosocial problems. The finding motivates to do more research in order to provide comprehensive care to the alcohol dependent related psychosocial problems.

    Abstract: This paper presents experimental and numerical investigations on M30 Grade of concrete containing 40% of sintered fly ash aggregates (SFAs) on the punching behaviour of reinforced concrete (RC) slabs. Two 1000 x 1000 x 100 mm reinforced concrete slabs were cast and subjected to punching tests. The experimental results were compared with creating a nonlinear finite element programme using ABAQUS. This 3D Finite element analyses were performed with the appropriate modelling of element size and the constitutive modelling of concrete. The material parameters of the damaged plasticity model in ABAQUS were calibrated based on the test results of slab – plate connection. The comparison between experimental and numerical results indicates that the calibrated model correctly predicts the punching shear response of the slabs. A modification of 0.4 is introduced in MC2010 code.
