Abstract:
A photoacoustic (PA) imaging system for fast acquisition of two-dimensional data is described. The PA signal is generated not by modulation of the intensity of a laser beam but by rapid scanning of the beam with a fixed intensity. PA images can be reproduced by passing the microphone signal through a frequency filter, the character of which is discussed. It takes only a minute or less to obtain an image of 128×124 pixels, which is similar to that by the normal PA imaging technique.
