    Abstract: Background: Alcohol dependence (AD) is a chronic recurrent brain disease that causes a heavy disease burden worldwide, partly due to high relapse rates after detoxification. Verified biomarkers are not available for AD and its relapse, although the nucleus accumbens (NAc) and medial prefrontal cortex (mPFC) may play important roles in the mechanism of addiction. This study investigated AD- and relapse-associated functional connectivity (FC) of the NAc and mPFC with other brain regions during early abstinence. Methods: Sixty-eight hospitalized early-abstinence AD male patients and 68 age- and education-matched healthy controls (HCs) underwent resting-functional magnetic resonance imaging (r-fMRI). Using the NAc and mPFC as seeds, we calculated changes in FC between the seeds and other brain regions. Over a follow-up period of 6 months, patients were measured with the Alcohol Use Disorder Identification Test (AUDIT) scale to identify relapse outcomes (AUDIT ≥ 8). Results: Thirty-five (52.24%) of the AD patients relapsed during the follow-up period. AD displayed lower FC of the left fusiform, bilateral temporal superior and right postcentral regions with the NAc and lower FC of the right temporal inferior, bilateral temporal superior, and left cingulate anterior regions with the mPFC compared to controls. Among these FC changes, lower FC between the NAc and left fusiform, lower FC between the mPFC and left cingulate anterior cortex, and smoking status were independently associated with AD. Subjects in relapse exhibited lower FC of the right cingulate anterior cortex with NAc and of the left calcarine sulcus with mPFC compared to non-relapsed subjects; both of these reductions in FC independently predicted relapse. Additionally, FC between the mPFC and right frontal superior gyrus, as well as years of education, independently predicted relapse severity. Conclusion: This study found that values of FC between selected seeds (i.e., the NAc and the mPFC) and some other reward- and/or impulse-control-related brain regions were associated with AD and relapse; these FC values could be potential biomarkers of AD or for prediction of relapse. These findings may help to guide further research on the neurobiology of AD and other addictive disorders.

    Abstract: Anxiety and depression are common psychological problems in orthodontic patients whose diet habits and oral health status change frequently during treatment. However, relationships between anxiety and depression, digestive tract condition, and impaired oral health-related quality of life remain unknown. Materials and methods In this study, clinical assessments, including anxiety, depression, digestive tract condition, and oral health-related quality of life, were collected from 769 outpatients in the orthodontic department using three self-reported questionnaires. Correlation analysis was used to investigate the relationships among different clinical assessments. A chained mediation analysis model was further conducted to explore the direct and indirect effects of these various clinical factors. Results Changes in digestive tract conditions were positively correlated with the psychological status and oral health-related quality of life. Anxiety and depression partially mediated the relationship between them, and the indirect effect was 0.68 (30%), of which the mediation effect of anxiety accounted for 56%. Conclusion Anxiety and depression mediate the relationship between gastrointestinal conditions and oral health. In particular, anxiety seems to play a significant mediating role. Our findings indicate that psychological status must be paid more attention to in future clinical practices and supervision for digestive tract symptoms of orthodontic patients.

    Abstract: Numerical simulation and experiments study were performed to obtain heat transfer and flow resistance characteristics in a channel with pin-fin arrays of trailing edge. Five models with different pin-fin materials were designed to simulate, which contained the rectangular duct model based on the flow and heat transfer of real blade, and four enlarged models with different pin-fin materials based on the similarity theory. One enlarged model was also experimented on, the simulation results of that model tend to agree with experimental data. The results of simulation show that the heat transfer coefficients of the rectangular channel wall increase with the thermal conductivity of pin-fin. And there is one thermal conductivity coefficient, which is determined by the Biot number of pin-fin, makes the average heat transfer of the enlarged model wall same as the real blade path model.

    Abstract: Saponins from Rhizoma Panacis Majoris (SRPM), the bioactive component in Rhizoma Panacis Majoris , have been used extensively as a remedy for liver injury diseases and achieved good clinical efficacy, but the underlying mechanisms remain poorly understood. The goal of our present study was to further confirm SRPM hepatoprotective effect, and evaluate that whether SRPM attenuate oxidative stress and fibrosis in carbon tetrachloride (CCl 4 )-induced hepatic injury, based on these results, investigate the probable mechanisms involved. At first, the separation and purification of SRPM were studied. And then, in the animal experiment, the male Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divided into control, model, l-SRPM and h-SRPM group. Hepatic fibrosis model were made according to our previous studies reported. At the same time, the experimental rats were treated respectively with relative drugs, once a day for 8 weeks. Hepatoprotective effects of SRPM were evaluated by liver function, total antioxidant capacity and total-superoxide dismutase, histopathological observations and the hepatic fibrosis relative gene expressions. In the study, we found that SRPM significantly improved liver function, serum antioxidation level, reversed the upregulated α-SMA and TIMP1 mRNA expressions, and further increased the MMP1 mRNA expression. Our studies indicated that SRPM exerted beneficially hepatoprotective effects on the CCl 4 induced hepatic fibrosis, mainly enhancing liver tissue antioxidant capacity, reducing the lipid peroxidation of hepatocyte membranes, and then alleviating hepatic fibrosis and hepatic cell death.

    Abstract: Ti-Al composite tube has the merits of high hardness, corrosion resistance, heat resistance and low specific gravity; and is widely used in aerospace industry, petroleum industry, and nuclear industry. Explosive welding is used to produce the Ti-Al composite tube in this paper. The effect of Sodium chloride emulsion explosive and detonation velocities on the interface characteristics are investigated. The bond interface wave and mechanical properties are analyzed. From the Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), it can be found that the interface is wavy, which can produce best welding characteristics. And detonation velocity has great effect on the bond interface wave. Mechanical tests including the flattening test, compression test, and bending test are conducted on the Ti-Al composite tube. Research showed that the interface bond properties and strength can fully withstand large plastic deformation.

    Abstract: The development of education robots has brought tremendous potential and opportunities to the field of education. These intelligent machines can interact with students in classrooms and learning environments, providing personalized educational support. To enable education robots to fulfill their roles, they require accurate object detection capabilities to perceive and understand the surrounding environment of students, identify targets, and interact with them. Object detection in complex environments remains challenging, as classrooms or learning scenarios involve various objects, backgrounds, and lighting conditions. Improving the accuracy and efficiency of object detection is crucial for the development of education robots. This paper introduces the progress of an education robot's object detection based on a brain-inspired heuristic method, which integrates Faster R-CNN, YOLOv3, and semi-supervised learning. By combining the strengths of these three techniques, we can improve the accuracy and efficiency of object detection in education robot systems. In this work, we integrate two popular object detection algorithms: Faster R-CNN and YOLOv3. We conduct a series of experiments on the task of education robot object detection. The experimental results demonstrate that our proposed optimization algorithm significantly outperforms individual algorithms in terms of accuracy and real-time performance. Moreover, through semi-supervised learning, we achieve better performance with fewer labeled samples. This will provide education robots with more accurate perception capabilities, enabling better interaction with students and delivering personalized educational experiences. It will drive the development of the field of education robots, offering innovative and personalized solutions for education.

    Abstract: Hyperphosphatemic familial tumoral calcinosis (HFTC) is a rare disease characterized by hyperphosphatemia and ectopic calcification, predominantly at periarticular locations. This study was performed to characterize the clinical profile of tumoral calcinosis and to identify gene mutations associated with HFTC and elucidated its pathogenic role. Methods The three subjects (two male and one female) were aged 30, 25 and 15 years, respectively. The clinical features, histopathological findings, and outcomes of three subjects with HFTC were retrospectively reviewed. The three subjects were analyzed for FGF23 , GALNT3 and KL mutations. Function of mutant gene was analyzed by western blotting and wheat germ agglutinin affinity chromatography. Results All subjects had hyperphosphatemia and elevated calcium-phosphorus product. Calcinosis positions included the left shoulder, left index finger, and right hip. Bone and joint damage were present in two cases and multiple foci influenced body growth in one case. The histopathological features were firm, rubbery masses comprising multiple nodules of calcified material bordered by the proliferation of mononuclear or multinuclear macrophages, osteoclastic-like giant cells, fibroblasts, and chronic inflammatory cells. The novel mutation c.484A & gt;G (p.N162D) in exon 3 of FGF23 was identified in one subject and his family members. Measurement of circulating FGF23 in the subject confirmed low intact FGF23 and increased C-terminal fragment. In vitro experiments showed that the mutant FGF23 proteins had defective O-glycosylation and impaired protein proteolysis protection. Conclusion We identified a novel FGF23 missense mutation, and confirmed its damaging role in FGF23 protein O-glycosylation. Our findings expand the current spectrum of FGF23 variations that influence phosphorus metabolism.
