Abstract: The article analyses functioning of winged expressions in contemporary texts falling into different types of discourse. Despite coexistence of different terms (winged unit, winged expression, intertexteme, precedent text, text reminiscence, eptonym, eptologism, logoepisteme, commemorate, etc.), the essence of the linguistic units described by these terms comes down to the main characteristics thereof - direct dependence on the source, reproducibility and recognisability thereof. The article reviews development stages of the winged unit study term system as part of the winged unit study, names scholars who have significantly contributed to the development of this field. It shows that despite the terminology divergence and the early days of the winged unit study metalanguage, this study as part of phraseology has assumed a stable position both in the Russian and European linguistics owing to the winged unit study functional potential realisation in different text styles and genres. The authors define research directions related to the winged unit study functional potential. As part of the study there were reviewed demotivators where the winged units В России две беды - дураки и дороги (Russia has two problems: pinheads and roads) (N.V. Gogol) and Рождённый ползать - летать не может (He who was born to slither cannot fly) (M. Gorky) are used in the verbal part and acquire the text forming meaning. There have been studied the neologisms Я - Шарли (Je suis Charlie) - Я не Шарли (I am not Charlie), Крым наш (Crimea is ours), вежливые люди (the polite people) that appeared owing to the modern cultural context. The article uncovers the need for the creation of the pragmatically loaded dictionary ‘Classics of Russian Literature Mirrored by Winged Expressions’. The relevancy of the study undertaken is stemming from the review of winged expressions in modern different genre texts.

Abstract: The paper is timed to coincide with the 80th anniversary of the birth of Valery M. Mokienko, Doctor of Letters, Professor of Slavic Philology, Philology Department, St Petersburg State University, Honorary Chairman of the Phraseological Commission of the International Committee of Slavists. The paper reviews focal areas of the scholars research, lists his academic interests, the main of those being phraseology and phraseography. V.M. Mokienko proposed to detect dynamic interactions of contradictory properties of the phraseological system, to reveal the mechanism of phrase formation involving broad genetic and typological parallels to determine the nature of a phraseological unit. The method of structural and semantic modeling based on a detailed comparison of dialectal, Slavic and non-Slavic European idiomacy is the basis of modern theoretical and practical studies of the scientists followers. The trilogy of dictionaries edited by V.M. Mokienko distinguishes precise certification of units, references to synonymous turns, which makes it easier for the reader to navigate in the huge source material, outlines the parameters of the phraseological space close to the certified expression, and makes it possible to show the wealth of images of folk speech conveying the same semantics.

Abstract: The article presents an attempt to define the basic concepts and proposes a methodology for identifying the national specificity of the proverbial fund of a given language in the synchronic plan. In modern linguistics, more and more attention is paid to the study of interlingual specificity / generality of proverbs, both in the theoretical (typological, language and cultural), and in the applied (linguodidactic, lexicographic) terms. However, in linguistics there is no special methodological apparatus for establishing and describing the national specificity of proverbs. The aim of the research is to develop and test the basic concepts and methodology for identifying the national specificity of the proverbial fund of the language in the synchronic plan. Research methods - interlingual comparison, structural and semantic modeling, ethnolinguistic analysis, language and cultural description. The research material was over 1,500 of the most actively used Belarusian proverbs (from its paremiological minimum, the main paremiological fund, the corpus of literary texts), as well as proverbs of the Slavic, Baltic, Germanic, Romanic, Finno-Ugrian languages (more than 220,000 proverbs from the most authoritative paremiographic sources in 34 modern European languages). As a result of the study, it was found that for the differentiation of common with other languages and specific units of the proverbial fund of the language, the synchronic analysis based on the structural and semantic modeling of proverbs is the most objective. The linguistic content of the concepts national specificity of a proverbial fund, unique, international, universal proverb, national specificity of a proverb, national and language specificity, national and cultural marking of a proverb has been determined and verified. The methodology for describing the national specificity of a proverbial fund has been developed and tested. It includes the principles and methods of selecting the most representative units for analysis, the determination of the interlingual specificity / generality of proverbs, the ascertainment of their national and language, national and cultural specificity, the identification of the degree and nature of the national marking of the exact language proverbs. It is proved that the national specificity of the proverbial fund is qualitatively and quantitatively determined not by proverbs that are unique against the background of other languages, but by the national and language and / or national and cultural marking common (international and universal) proverbs of other languages.

Abstract: The article deals with the consideration of the paremic text in the modern linguistic paradigm: approaches to the researches are presented, the text-forming and linguocultural potential of individual units is shown. The direct observation method was used as the main method in this work, followed by the use of descriptive-analytical, comparative, contextual and linguistic and cultural methods. The Study is based on examples from lexicographic sources and illustrations from the Internet. The article provides an overview of the main aspects of the paremiological studies. Paremias are considered as a folklore genre, the thematic and ideographic principle of classifying paremias is presented, the aspects of cultural linguistics (linguoculturological) and translation studies are substantiated, and peculiarities of historical and etymological discursive (functional) analysis are shown. Comparative linguistic and cultural analysis is recognized by the authors of the paper as an integrative aspect of the paremiological material description. The article analyzes the text-forming and linguoculturological potential of the paremiology in different languages. As an example of the realization of the text-forming potential of paremias, the functioning of the proverb Не рой другому яму - сам в нее попадешь (упадешь) (He who digs a pit for others may fall himself therein) is studied as the verbal part of the Russian and Lithuanian demotivators. The paper provides a linguistic and cultural analysis of paremias with a toponymical component in different languages. Despite the abundance of various toponyms, which are characteristic for different countries, in these proverbs are dominated the international component, which is associated with the universal laws of human thinking, which makes it possible to find their semantic equivalents in various languages. The relevance of this study lies in the fact that paremias are considered in various aspects from the standpoint of modern humanistic education. With the development of social communications in modern society, an intercultural connection is being strengthened, requiring linguocultural commentary.

Abstract: Internet texts represent the most mobile and eclectic type of a text. Therefore, the methodology of their analysis is integrative and polyparadigmatic; and for adequate interpretation it is required to consider them taking into account modern socio-cultural context and presuppositional knowledge. The article is devoted to the description of meme-creating components associated with modern sociocultural context in various forms of Internet memes: comics, demotivators, cartoons, presented in three segments of the Internet (Runet, French and Azerbaijani segments). The novelty of the research is based on the fact that for the first time, the meme-creating plots in the Russian, French and Azerbaijani segments of the Internet were identified and correlated; the authors carried out an analysis of the authentic material formed under the influence of the socio-cultural context - the influence of various external factors and cultural background. A continuous selection of network sources from various segments of the Internet allowed compiling an author’s card-file containing more than 2 500 Internet memes, the examples from which became an empirical basis for the study. The material was аnalysed with the use of a descriptive and analytical method that involves direct observation of the phenomena under analysis and their systematization, generalization of language material; we also used elements of discursive, componential and linguopragmatic analysis.A comparative analysis of memes in the Russian, French and Azerbaijani segments of the Internet showed, on the one hand, a quantitative asymmetry (Russian memes prevail), and on the other hand, differences in the forms of Internet memes (for example, demotivators prevail in Runet, comics and cartoons are commonly found in the French and Azerbaijani segments). The analyzed material showed that both words and phraseological units of different categories realize the functional potential in the verbal part of Internet memes of the three linguocultures under consideration. In a number of cases, there is an actualization and complete rethinking of lexical and precedent units. The nature of the presentation of images in the visual part may be associated with the cultural tradition of the nation. The study shows that such 21st century attraction events as migration and threat of coronavirus infection are reflected in Internet memes regardless of the system of values, religion and mentality. When creating national images and presenting artefacts, the role of ethno-linguistic markers perceived by a particular nation is decisive. The visual element can also be actualized in connection with ongoing socio-political events. All this proves that adequate interpretation of memes requires presuppositional knowledge, so that understanding such a polycode formation as an Internet meme does not become a communicative failure. Memes about labour migration and the coronavirus pandemic in the Belarusian segment of the Internet, content and forms of which are conditioned by the multicultural originality and socio-cultural openness of modern Belarus, confirm and typify the main provisions about the factors, conditions, methods and motivations of meme formation in Russian, French and Azerbaijani linguocultures.
