Abstract:
A longstanding question in the field of vision research is whether EEG activity contains sufficient information to identify the specific chromaticity of a stimulus. A challenge to answering this question is that EEG activity is also sensitive to differences in luminance and it is difficult to eliminate luminance differences among chromatic stimuli. Our results provide robust evidence that multivariate patterns of EEG can be used to decode stimulus chromaticity, independent of variations in luminance.
