Abstract: To study the molecular biology characteristics, phylogenetic relationship, and status quo of grass carp reovirus (GCRV) prevalent isolates, we conducted an epidemiological survey in South China from 2012 to 2016. We sampled 126 fish collected from five provinces. Eight strains of GCRV were isolated and examined in order to understand their genetic characteristics and evolution regularity. The results showed three genotypes of GCRV, of which. Genotype Ⅱ was found to be the prevalent strain in South China. SDS-PAGE electrophoresis further suggested that all viruses possess 11 segments of dsRNA, which have typical characteristics of GCRV. Based on amino acid sequence phylogenetic tree of VP6 gene, all eight isolates belonged to genotype Ⅱ and had significant variations compared to genotype Ⅰ. Analysis of amino acid sequence showed that these two genotypes of GCRV had no immunological cross-reactions. These results indicated that genotype Ⅱ GCRV is an extensive pandemic, and revealed new genetic diversity in China.

Abstract: The effects of air exposure on the antioxidant capacity of marine gastropod, Babylonia areolata, were evaluated. Superoxide dismutase (SOD) activity, malondialdehyde (MDA) content, and total antioxidant capacity (T-AOC) levels in the muscle and hepatopancreas in B. areolata were measured after air exposure and re-submersion. Results showed that SOD activity minimally increased in the hepatopancreas and muscle, after air exposure for 4h. SOD activity in the hepatopancreas was lower than the normal level after 20 h of air exposure and air exposure followed by 4 h of re-submersion. T-AOC levels in the hepatopancreas and muscle of B. areolata decreased significantly (P 〈 0.05) following the period of air exposure. MDA content in the hepatopancreas of B. areolata subjected to air exposure for 24 and 28 h was significantly higher than the normal level. SOD activity in the hepatopancreas and T- AOC level in the hepatopancreas and muscle of B. areolata recovered to the normal level after 12 h of air exposure followed by 8 h of re-submersion. Air exposure can cause oxidative damage to B. areolata. The antioxidative system can be restored after air exposure for less than 12 h followed by re-submersion for 8 h.

Abstract: Cynoglossus semilaevis blood biochemical parameters and antioxidant indexes that respond to fishing stress were measured under the influence of different feed taurine levels. With taurine levels of 0%, 0.5%, 1% and 1.5%, 4 groups of test feeds were prepared. After 28 days of feeding. Serum was collected before stress and at 0, 4, 12, 24, 48, 96 h after stress to determine the content of total protein, cholesterol, GPT, GOT, nitric oxide, lysozyme, blood sugar and the activity of glutathione (GSH-PX), superoxide dismutase (SOD), malondialdehyde (MDA) and antioxidant capacity (AOC), the results show: Feeding a feed with a taurine content of 0.5% has a better inhibitory effect on cholesterol and GOT in Cynoglossus semilaevis after fishing stress, and has obvious anti-stress effect on lysozyme and protein. The 0.5% group had the lowest MDA content 12 h after fishing stress. The results suggested that feeding the feed with a taurine content of 0.5%, the Cynoglossus semilaevis blood biochemical parameters and antioxidant indexes to fishing stress has a better response.

Abstract: A growth trial was conducted to estimate the optimum levels of dietary phosphorus (P) for juvenile hybrid tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus × O. aureus) fed fishmeal-free practical diets. Hybrid tilapia (1.68 ± 0.08 g) were fed diets containing various levels (0.0%, 0.2%, 0.4%, 0.6%, 0.8% and 1.0%) of additional inorganic phosphorus for 10 weeks using two different sources of phosphorus:calcium dihydrogen phosphate (MCP), and sodium dihydrogen phosphate (MSP). Hybrid tilapia fed the P-supplemented diets showed significantly higher weight gain (WG) and mineral deposition than those fed the unsupplemented diet. Based on weight gain and vertebral phosphorus content, the available phosphorus requirements of hybrid tilapia were estimated as 1% and 1.31% (0.6% and 0.9% based on additional phosphorus content) respectively, when MSP was used as a phosphorus source. When MCP was the phosphorus source, the requirement estimated for weight gain was 0.95% (0.61% based on additional phosphorus content). In addition, MCP contributed to increased growth and a higher mineral deposition rate than did MSP, in freshwater-reared hybrid tilapia.

Abstract: The effects of the manganese (Mn) supplemented diets on the level of superoxide anions (O-2) in the hemolymph, and the activity of superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalase (CAT), and glutathione peroxidase (GPX) in the muscle of Neocaridina heteropoda were investigated. Manganese sulfate (MnSO4) was added to a basal diet at 0, 20, 40, 60, 80, or 100 μg/g. Diets were fed to triplicate groups of shrimp (0.30±0.11 g, 1.4±0.1 cm) in a recirculating freshwater rearing system for 30 days. The Mn concentration in the rearing water, monitored during feeding, was 1.00±0.02 μg/l. O-2 was lower and antioxidant enzyme activity was higher (p 〈 0.05) in shrimps fed Mn-supplemented diets than in shrimps fed the control. Antioxidant enzyme activity reached a maximum when the Mn concentration was 60 μg/g diet.
