Abstract: A novel silver cluster ( SD/Ag48a ) co‐protected by p ‐MePhS − and CF 3 COO − ligands with an in‐situ generated unprecedented [Mo 8 O 28 ] 8− template has been synthesized under solvothermal condition. Single‐crystal X‐ray diffraction (SCXRD) and electrospray mass spectrometry (ESI‐MS) were used to determine the atom‐precise structure and solution behavior, respectively. Interestingly, the rare [Mo 8 O 28 ] 8− ion observed in the center of SD/Ag48a consists of 8 edge‐shared {MoO 6 } octahedra or can be deemed as three {Mo 4 O 4 } cubes fused together by sharing faces. The UV‐Vis spetcrum exhibits that a high‐energy (HE) wide absorption centered at ca. 365 nm, which can be assinged to intraligand (IL) π→π* transition absorption, whereas the low‐energy (LE) shoulder peak centered at ca. 500 nm can be ascribed to ligand‐to‐metal‐charge‐transfer (LMCT, S 3p→Ag 5 s) transition.

Abstract: Pursuing epigenetic manipulation approach in fungi led to the isolation of an unusual coumarin metabolite from fungi. An addition of the histone deacetylase inhibitor, suberohydroxamic acid (SBHA), to the culture medium of Arthrobotrys foliicola induced production of the coumarin‐type secondary metabolite represented by a single intensive peak in the HPLC profile of the ethyl acetate extract. The compound which was identified as 4‐ethyl‐7‐hydroxy‐8‐methyl‐2 H ‐chromen‐2‐one ( 1 ) was isolated from nature for the first time. Moreover, the investigation on the remaining part of the HPLC profile led to the separation of 6‐ethyl‐2,4‐dihydroxy‐3‐methylbenzaldehyde ( 2 ) and ten 2,5‐diketopiperazine compounds ( 3 – 12 ). The structures of isolates were deduced by their mass and NMR spectroscopic data. The coumarin‐type secondary metabolite ( 1 ) with peculiar smell induced by epigenetic stimulation is found for the first time in the Arthrobotrys species and the family Orbiliaceae. We evaluated 1 for the cytotoxic, anti‐inflammatory, anti‐allergic and nematocidal activities, however, it was found inactive.

Abstract: Streptococcus agalactiae (GBS) is an important Gram-positive pathogen of fish aquaculture worldwide. In this study, we performed a comparative analysis of GBS S03 (serotype III) and S07 (serotype Ia) isolated from Schizothorax spp.. We explored the association between phenotypic antibiotic resistance, virulence, and genomic characteristics. Antimicrobial sensitivity tests on 12 common antibiotics using the disc diffusion method revealed that the GBS S03 resisted seven antibiotics, while GBS S07 showed sensitivity to eleven antibiotics. Pathogenicity analysis demonstrated greater virulence of GBS S07 than S03. Then, the occurrence of antibiotic resistance and virulence genes were identified using the whole-genome sequence (WGS) of GBS S03 and GBS S07. Besides just GBS S03 had gyrA and parC gene mutations, there were mefE , tetO , lnuB , lsaE , APH3’ , and sat-4 resistance genes present only in GBS S03 genome. In addition to 51 virulence genes in both GBS S03 and S07 genomes, GBS S07 carried virulence genes associated with invasion, such as SAN_1519 , rfbA and cylE genes. There was complete concordance between genotypic evidence and phenotypic characteristics. Virulence factors and phylogenetic analysis showed that GBS S03 and human sources shared an extremely close evolutionary relationship. Our findings also provide important proof for using WGS as an effective tool for phenotypic predictions of GBS.

Abstract: This study examined the effects of molting stage on the growth of primary-cultured cells from the shrimps Macrobrachium nipponense and Penaeus vannamei. Muscle cells in different molting stages were cultured in L-15 medium, supplemented with 1g/l glucose,1g/l MgCl2,1 g/l CaCl2,100 IU/ml penicillin, and 100 μg/ml streptomycin. Results showed that cells cultured in the early postmolt stage grew best. They had an unfolding cell shape, a compact monolayer, a high rate of coverage, and the highest RNA:DNA ratio. Differences among early postmolt, premolt, and intermolt cells were significant (p 〈 0.05).

Abstract: Aeromonas spp. are ubiquitous inhabitants of aquatic ecosystems, and are increasingly being reported as important pathogens for aquatic and terrestrial animals, as well as humans. A common bacterial disease caused by A.veronii has appeared in cultured channel catfish producing symptoms of erythema, hemorrhages, skin ulcers and high mortality (˃30%) in China, causing great economic loss. From 2007 to 2013, diseased channel catfish, Ictalurus punctatus, displaying symptoms of septicemia, ulceration, or abdominal dropsy were collected from Southwestern China. The goals of this study were to identify the bacterial strains isolated from diseased fish and to determine the susceptibility of the pathogenic strains to many currently available antimicrobial agents. 18 bacterial isolates were obtained from diseased fish. Based on phenotypic characteristics and 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis, all isolates were identified as A. veronii. These results indicate that the microbiological risk posed by A. veronii is considerable for channel catfish cultured in Southwestern China. Susceptibility of the isolates to antibiotics was tested using the agar dilution method. All 18 A. veronii isolates were sensitive to florfenicol, norfloxacin and chloramphenicol, and were resistant to cefradine, clindamycin, midecamycin, penbritin, and amoxicillin. There were sensitivity diversities of the 18 A. veronii isolates to other test antibiotics such as sulfamethoxazole, deoxycycline, gentamycin, tobramycin, and more. This in vitro study provides enough data to recommend the use of these antibiotics for treating infectious diseases caused by A. veronii.

Abstract: Aeromonas allosaccharophila belongs one of the causative agent of Aeromonas disease in teleosts. Here, we reported on multiple outbreaks of A. allosaccharophila with mortality up to 80% in farmed hybrid sturgeon in Sichuan, China, from 2019 to 2021. This was the first study to A. allosaccharophila from diseased hybrid sturgeons by phenotypic characterization and 16S rRNA analysis. The typical clinical signs of these fish were intestinal segments empty and often with yellow mucus or swelling. Histopathological observation of diseased fish infected with A. allosaccharophila showed the intestinal villus structure disappeared and the intestinal mucosa epithelium was necrotic and shed. Experimental infection indicated that A. allosaccharophila was the pathogen responsible for the mortalities. Antibiotic sensitivity test results showed that A. allosaccharophila was resistant to ampicillin, neomycin, tetracycline, and penicillin, while sensitive to sulfamethoxazole, streptomycin, florfenicol, enrofloxacin, and cefoxitin. Our findings provide references for the disease diagnosis and treatment.

Abstract: A series of triazole and pyridine hybrid molecules, with a triazole core and pyridine periphery, were designed and synthesized as an electron‐transport layer (ETL) and a hole/exciton‐block layer for green phosphorescent organic light‐emitting diodes. Compared with the widely‐used electron‐transport material (ETM) of 3‐(biphenyl‐4‐yl)‐5‐(4‐ tert ‐butylphenyl)‐4‐phenyl‐4H‐1,2,4‐triazole (TAZ) with a triazole core, lower‐lying HOMO and LUMO energy levels were obtained with the introduction of pyridine rings onto the periphery of the molecules, giving improved electron injection and carrier confinement. Significantly reduced driving voltages were achieved in a device structure of ITO/HATCN (5 nm)/TAPC (40 nm)/CBP:8 wt % Ir(PPy) 3 (10 nm)/ETL (40 nm)/LiF (1 nm)/Al (90 nm), giving a maximum power efficiency of 72.2 lm W −1 and an external quantum efficiency of 21.8 %, due to the improved electron injection and transport and thus, more balanced carrier recombination, which are much higher than those of the device based on TAZ.

Abstract: A growth trial was conducted to estimate the optimum levels of dietary phosphorus (P) for juvenile hybrid tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus × O. aureus) fed fishmeal-free practical diets. Hybrid tilapia (1.68 ± 0.08 g) were fed diets containing various levels (0.0%, 0.2%, 0.4%, 0.6%, 0.8% and 1.0%) of additional inorganic phosphorus for 10 weeks using two different sources of phosphorus:calcium dihydrogen phosphate (MCP), and sodium dihydrogen phosphate (MSP). Hybrid tilapia fed the P-supplemented diets showed significantly higher weight gain (WG) and mineral deposition than those fed the unsupplemented diet. Based on weight gain and vertebral phosphorus content, the available phosphorus requirements of hybrid tilapia were estimated as 1% and 1.31% (0.6% and 0.9% based on additional phosphorus content) respectively, when MSP was used as a phosphorus source. When MCP was the phosphorus source, the requirement estimated for weight gain was 0.95% (0.61% based on additional phosphorus content). In addition, MCP contributed to increased growth and a higher mineral deposition rate than did MSP, in freshwater-reared hybrid tilapia.

Abstract: Aeromonas salmonicida is a fish pathogen that has resulted in significant losses to the aquaculture industry worldwide. In the winter of 2018/2019, a serious outbreak of A. salmonicida infection of grass carp (Ctenopharyngodon idella) occurred in China. Since C. idella do not feed at low water temperatures, antibiotics cannot be delivered orally, thus the use of disinfectants is the only viable option to control the disease in the winter months. Therefore, the aim of this study was to elucidate the inhibitory effects of different disinfectants against A. salmonicida at various temperatures and pH values. The microdilution method was used to determine the minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) of five disinfectants against A. salmonicida at different temperatures. The results showed that A. salmonicida was highly adaptable to temperatures ranging from 8 to 35 °C and pH values from 5 to 9. Moreover, based on the results, benzalkonium bromide (BB) had the strongest inhibitory effect at every temperature. Since A. salmonicida has strong environment adaptability, BB should be chosen to control the disease at low temperatures.
