Abstract: In the present study, a novel microcellular processing experimental setup is developed. With this setup, an oscillatory shear flow is superimposed perpendicular to a steady shear flow during microcellular processing. The effects of processing conditions such as processing pressure, shear rate, and vibration frequency on polystyrene (PS) cell morphology are investigated. The cell morphology is analyzed with a scanning electron microscope (SEM). The results show that the cell density increases and cell size decreases with the increase of processing pressure, shear rate, and vibration frequency. The effects of steady and oscillatory shear on PS cell morphology are further studied with lower melt flow index PS processed with a larger gap thickness. The results show that the final cell structure processed under simple steady shear flow shows an elongated oval shape, while those processed under combined shear flow show nearly spherical cell shape.

Abstract: Coverless information hiding has become a hot topic in recent years. The existing steganalysis tools are invalidated due to coverless steganography without any modification to the carrier. However, for the text coverless has relatively low hiding capacity, this paper proposed a big data text coverless information hiding method based on LDA (latent Dirichlet allocation) topic distribution and keyword TF-IDF (term frequency-inverse document frequency). Firstly, the sender and receiver build codebook, including word segmentation, word frequency and TF-IDF features, LDA topic model clustering. The sender then shreds the secret information, converts it into keyword ID through the keywords-index table, and searches the text containing the secret information keywords. Secondly, the searched text is taken as the index tag according to the topic distribution and TF-IDF features. At the same time, random numbers are introduced to control the keyword order of secret information.

Abstract: Authors commonly categorize peace missions according to different generations: first-generation missions serving as interposition forces to monitor a cease-fire, second-generation missions with multidimensional mandates, and third-generation missions with enforcement mandates. While the generation typology is useful to show the development of peace missions over time, this article points to four main limitations: ambiguity, reductionism, linear connotations, and restricted applicability. It proposes an alternative categorization distinguishing between a minimalist approach aiming at ending violence, a moderate approach aiming at ending violence and installing some form of good governance, and a maximalist approach aiming at addressing the root causes of conflict. Based on an analysis of all UN peace missions between 1991 and 2020, the article demonstrates how this new classification overcomes the flaws of the generation typology and presents further advantages related to its focus on objectives, its versatility, and its potential for statistical analysis. It thereby allows for a more accurate analysis of UN peace missions and their effectiveness.

Abstract: Natural compounds in plants are often unevenly distributed, and determining the best sampling locations to obtain the most representative results is technically challenging. Matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization mass spectrometry imaging (MALDI-MSI) can provide the basis for formulating sampling guideline. For a succulent plant sample, ensuring the authenticity and in situ nature of the spatial distribution analysis results during MSI analysis also needs to be thoroughly considered. In this study, we developed a well-established and reliable MALDI-MSI method based on preservation methods, slice conditions, auxiliary matrices, and MALDI parameters to detect and visualize the spatial distribution of mescaline in situ in Lophophora williamsii. The MALDI-MSI results were validated using liquid chromatography–tandem mass spectrometry. Low-temperature storage at −80°C and drying of “bookmarks” were the appropriate storage methods for succulent plant samples and their flower samples, and cutting into 40 μm thick sections at −20°C using gelatin as the embedding medium is the appropriate sectioning method. The use of DCTB (trans-2-[3-(4-tert-butylphenyl)-2-methyl-2-propenylidene]malononitrile) as an auxiliary matrix and a laser intensity of 45 are favourable MALDI parameter conditions for mescaline analysis. The region of interest semi-quantitative analysis revealed that mescaline is concentrated in the epidermal tissues of L. williamsii as well as in the meristematic tissues of the crown. The study findings not only help to provide a basis for determining the best sampling locations for mescaline in L. williamsii, but they also provide a reference for the optimization of storage and preparation conditions for raw plant organs before MALDI detection. Abstract: UN peace missions are constantly evolving. Yet, we lack a detailed understanding of the shifting types and objectives of peace missions beyond broad categorizations that distinguish for instance between observer, traditional, multidimensional, and peace enforcement missions. To address this gap, we present the UN Peace Mission Mandates (UNPMM) dataset. With global coverage, 30 years of data between 1991 and 2020, a broad scope that includes peacekeeping and political missions, and information on 41 mandate tasks, the UNPMM represents one of the most detailed and up-to-date datasets on UN peace mission mandates. We use it to highlight how mission types, objectives, and specific tasks have changed since the end of the Cold War, and to analyze what factors influence the kind of missions the UN is willing to authorize. The descriptive statistics and empirical analysis reaffirm the need for a greater disaggregation of data on UN peace missions and their mandates.
