Abstract:
Impact statement In this study we demonstrated that replacement of dietary fish protein hydrolysate with commercial single‐cell bacterial and yeast protein sources in the diet of Zebrafish maintained female weight gain and, in fact, increased weight gain in males consuming the bacterial single‐cell protein. Females also had lower carcass fat content when consuming the yeast and bacterial single‐cell proteins. These single‐cell proteins can be an effective alternative ingredient in formulated diets for the Zebrafish, providing additional insight into the health of this important model for human health and valuable ornamental fish.
