Abstract:
Wild red‐fleshed apples have higher flavonoid contents than cultivated apples. A PA1‐type MYB transcription factor, MdMYBPA1, from red‐fleshed apple not only plays a role in proanthocyanidin biosynthesis, but also responds to low temperature by redirecting the pathway of flavonoid synthesis from proanthocyanidin to anthocyanin production.
