Abstract: From a global perspective, the hypocrisy of enterprises in fulfilling their social responsibilities has become a common phenomenon. However, theoretical research on corporate hypocrisy, especially in the micro level, is still insufficient. To enrich the theoretical achievements of corporate hypocrisy in the micro level, this study adopted the grounded theory methods to explore the employee attributions of corporate hypocrisy in Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and dig deeper into the internal links and role paths between the attributions. After the process of defining problems, collecting data, three-level coding, construction theory, and saturation test, we used dates from 21 employees and found that the employee attributions of corporate hypocrisy consist of six major categories: capacity limitation, external pressure promotion, lack of supervision, sincerity of keeping promises, speculation, and external tolerance. Besides, this study proposed a mechanistic model of the employee attributions of corporate hypocrisy in CSR and pointed out that the degree of external tolerance, the sincerity of keeping promises, and speculation play moderating roles in the main effect. Moreover, the speculation also plays a mediating role in the moderation effect of external tolerance’ moderation.

Abstract: Environmental management and sustainable financial growth are currently hot topics in academic research. This article examines the relationships among environmental management, debt financing, and sustainable financial growth in the Chinese tourism industry. The results show that environmental management and debt financing have promoted sustainable financial growth, and the overall effect of debt financing on sustainable financial growth has been affected by environmental management. After employing different methods of controlling the endogeneity, these conclusions are still robust. We also examine the mediating effect and threshold effect on environmental management, debt financing, and sustainable financial growth, and the results reveal that debt financing can mediate the effect of environmental management on sustainable financial growth and that there is nonlinear impact of debt financing on sustainable financial growth in different thresholds of environmental management. The analysis results show that the presented policy proposals promote the development of tourism companies from the aspects of debt financing and environmental management.

Abstract: The identification of spatial layout and functional characteristics among industrial clusters is vital to support the development of regional industries. Based on the industrial registration data of more than 330,000 companies in “The First Industrial Clusters in China,” and natural language processing methods (NLP), a set of identification framework for urban industrial functional zones is constructed by introducing commercial registration data and electronic map location data to deal with complex industrial big data, realizing the recognition of industrial spatial layout and functional characteristics of Nanshan. The results show that the industrial coverage of Nanshan is as high as 79.07%, and the wholesale and retail enterprises are its main bodies. Among the nine industrial functional zones, emerging enterprises accounted for the majority and diversified agglomeration areas were more than specialized agglomerations in capital scale and employability. Thus, in future industrial planning, maintaining a diversified industrial agglomeration, while giving more policy favor to functional zones characterized by wholesale and retail, can better stimulate consumption and promote economic development in the region.

Abstract: Many decisions to help others are made in emotionally associated circumstances. Empathy is known to motivate prosocial behavior. However, no studies have investigated the interaction between empathy and emotion in deciding to help others. In total, 151 students scoring either high or low in empathy viewed three types of emotional clips (anger vs. sadness vs. neutrality) and completed the “Help for Another Study” task. Analysis of variance showed that participants chose to invest more time in helping others when they felt sadness than anger. Participants with high empathy chose to spend more time helping others than those with low empathy. Pearson’s correlation revealed a significant positive correlation between perspective-taking, empathic concern, and willingness to invest time in assistance under anger state; perspective-taking and fantasy were significantly correlated with willingness to invest time under sadness state. The results suggest that both emotion (i.e., sadness) and empathy (i.e., high trait empathy) are vital motivators that exert impact on prosocial helping decisions.

Abstract: Campus spatial organization has potential impact on the multidisciplinary innovation (MDI). This research aims to establish an evaluation theory and a method for MDI adaptability of campus spatial organization. Based on the literature review, it first proposes theoretical assumptions regarding the correlation among MDI abilities, social networks, and spatiotemporal behaviors of individuals on campus. Then, data on the three aspects mentioned above was collected through online survey which was conducted from February 4th to March 15th, 2020. A total of 524 valid responses were obtained from 572 undergraduates and graduates of various majors in Zijingang Campus (East) of Zhejiang University. The correlation mechanism of these aspects was empirically analyzed by structural equation model (SEM). By integrating individual data, the research generated three overall networks whose nodes are linked according to spatial proximity, behavior routine, and disciplinary connection, respectively. Furthermore, an evaluation method is proposed for MDI adaptability of the campus spatial organization, which is based on the comparison of the structural similarity of the nodes in different networks. Accordingly, the evaluation results were validated by expert ratings and user satisfaction. Finally, design strategies for the renovation of an innovative campus are discussed.

Abstract: Plain Language Summary Many-Faceted Rasch Model (MFRM) analysis using instructional plans written by pre-service teachers and scores form nine researchers to more objectively and accurately identify the levels and differences in pre-service teachers’ instructional innovation capabilities Purpose: Using Many-Faceted Rasch Model (MFRM) to create a profile of pre-service teachers’ with regard to their instructional innovation capability. Methods: This study selected nine researchers to evaluate the instructional innovation capabilities of 60 pre-service teachers from a Chinese normal university. The MFRM was used to measure and analyze the rater severity, difficulty of evaluation criteria, and instructional innovation capability of pre-service teachers. Conclusions: Most participants had moderate instructional innovation capability, and only certain individuals demonstrated a high level. In addition, innovation related to teaching content and learning activities was easier than innovation related to instructional and evaluation strategies. Implications: Different instructional plans, the severity of following to the plan and rater severity might have caused differences in the evaluation results.

Abstract: Controlling shareholder expropriation is an important issue in corporate governance in emerging economies. The existing literature discusses the effects of minority shareholder legal protection, controlling shareholder ownership, and managerial shareholding on controlling shareholder expropriation, which is mainly empirical research with insufficient attention to the internal relationships among the governance factors. This research builds theoretical models to study the interactive mechanisms between minority shareholder legal protection, controlling shareholders’ initial shareholding ratios, managerial shareholding, controlling shareholder expropriation, and management effort. Furthermore, setting reasonable ranges for parameters, we use MATLAB to conduct numerical simulations and expand the detailed analyses to quantitatively reveal the degrees of influence of the governance factors. Our results show that controlling shareholder expropriation is negatively related to the degree of minority shareholder legal protection and controlling shareholders’ initial shareholding ratios, while the optimal managerial shareholding ratio is positively related to the degree of minority shareholder legal protection and controlling shareholders’ initial shareholding ratios. The findings enrich the literature on the governance of controlling shareholder expropriation and provide new approaches to and theoretical explanations for the governance of controlling shareholder expropriation toward sustainability in emerging economies.
