Abstract: This study investigated the role of social capital in the relationship between sports event volunteer management and volunteers’ attitude and behavior. Social capital was discovered to mediate the relationships of sports event volunteer management with volunteers’ satisfaction and work engagement. These relationships were empirically examined by conducting a survey of 303 volunteers from the 2016 Wuhan Open and 2016 Wuhan Marathon. The results revealed that sports event management practices, namely training and working conditions, significantly affected the volunteers’ social capital. The social capital of the sports event volunteers significantly affected their satisfaction and work engagement. The volunteers’ social capital promoted their satisfaction and engagement only if sports event volunteer management practices effectively enhanced their social capital. This study provides recommendations to help sports event organizers motivate volunteers.

Abstract: Based on the technology acceptance model (TAM), this paper discusses how the functional attributes and design characteristics of sports wearable devices affect users’ attitude and behavior. In order to estimate the relationship between variables, structural equation model (SEM) was used to analyze the data from questionnaire. By analyzing the relationship among data analysis, real-time monitoring, appearance design, simple operation, perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, use attitude, and use behavior, it is found that data analysis and real-time monitoring has a significant impact on the perceived usefulness of sports wearable devices. The simple operation and appearance design have a significant impact on the perceived ease of use of sports wearable devices. The perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use of sports wearable devices further affect users’ attitude and behavior. The result means all study hypotheses were accepted. Therefore, providing perfect data analysis function, developing accurate real-time monitoring function, introducing friendly appearance design, and simplifying product operation mode can improve the use value and operation convenience of sports wearable devices and enhance the acceptance of users.

Abstract: Rural–urban migration has profoundly changed the traditional social structure and family relationships in China over the past 40 years. The goal of this study is to investigate the gender relationships between left-behind wives and migrant husbands in the context of Chinese rural–urban migration. Former studies have emphasized the importance of gender stratification in migration, demonstrating that the experiences of migrant women differ from those of migrant men. This study, however, shifts the focus onto left-behind wives, a vulnerable group in the countryside, whose husbands have migrated to a city. It examines the outcomes of Chinese rural–urban migration with regard to gender in a small Chinese village, which has been termed as the “patriarchal trap.” It finds that the disadvantaged position of wives left behind in rural migrant families is reflected in the following aspects. Firstly, the decision-making progress concerning migration and the discussions between rural wives and migrant husbands prior to undertaking migration reveals the dominant role played by rural men in taking such decisions with wives as passive participants. Secondly, despite the increase in responsibility, left-behind wives are still economically and psychologically dependent on their migrant husbands. Their wish to stay with their husbands often strengthens the gender stratification of their experiences. Thirdly, the gender difference between rural wives and migrant husbands is manifested in their differing attitudes toward and conceptualization of extramarital relationships, which reveals the privilege of migrant husbands and the vulnerability of their rural wives. The findings call for Chinese society to devote more attention to the issue of left-behind wives and provide more care to this vulnerable group in rural China.

Abstract: The technology acceptance model (TAM) has been regarded as a promising model for understanding technology adoption and can be extended to different situations. Currently, mobile payment services have been widely applied in people’s daily lives in China, and understanding their critical success factors is becoming important. Mobile payments are a complex system, and a large number of factors affect their success. Since mobile payments are directly related to financial issues, their wide adoption relies heavily on people’s trust. We developed a model based on the TAM to investigate the most influential factors in building trust within the mobile payment context. We conducted an empirical survey and 373 samples were collected using a valid questionnaire from the users of the popular payment platforms in China—Alipay and WeChat payment. We found that government monitoring is the most significant factor of customer trust, followed by reputation, and security. Government monitoring directly influenced behavioral intention, was negatively associated with perceived risk and positively affected behavioral intention. Moreover, mobility, subjective norms, usefulness, ease of use, and perceived enjoyment impacts customer behavioral intention.

Abstract: Using 34 products from China’s commodity futures market, this study examines the impact of social network attention and sentiment on its futures market returns. A machine learning text analysis algorithm was used to construct social network investor sentiment in consultation with three search volume indices. We find that: social network sentiment is a good predictor of commodity futures returns, investor attention has a significant positive impact on returns and absolute returns, and the Baidu index is better at forecasting returns than the Sogou and 360 indices. In addition, we examine how social network sentiment affects returns at different levels. We find that extremely high, market social network sentiments of investors changed the predicted results significantly; thus, the bases of the specified trading strategies of investors were altered. Regulators should therefore incorporate investor sentiment into regulatory targets and enhance retail investor education.

Abstract: Tablet-mediated interventions have shown promise in improving the mathematical skills of individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and/or intellectual disability (ID). This meta-analysis aims to provide a quantitative synthesis of single-case experimental studies of using tablet-mediated interventions to teach mathematics to individuals with ASD and/or ID. Twenty-seven published studies between 2012 and 2022 were included. The Tau-U effect size index was used to gauge the overall effect size of tablet-mediated interventions. The obtained effect size (Tau-U = 0.98, 95% CI 0.92–1.00) indicated large improvements in mathematics performance after using tablet-mediated interventions. The analysis of potential moderating variables, including participant characteristics, intervention components, and target mathematical skills found no statistically significant moderators. Implications for researchers and practitioners who use tablet-mediated interventions to teach mathematics to individuals with ASD and/or ID are also discussed.
