Abstract: Monitoring of dual service failures (e.g., trends in service failures and consecutive service failures) in business is emphasized for service quality management. Previous studies analyzing negative online reviews to conduct dual service failure monitoring from a managerial perspective are scarce. Numerous negative online reviews are useful sources for dual service failure monitoring because they can be easily collected at a low cost. This article proposes a data-driven approach to monitor service failure trends and consecutive service failures from negative online reviews. In the proposed approach, first a classifier is developed to categorize newly collected negative reviews into service failures by Latent Dirichlet allocation. Subsequently, a threshold value is provided to identify a new type of service failure, which was not achieved previously using a control chart. Finally, the probability of consecutive service failures is obtained by association rule mining. A case study of Uber is conducted to validate the proposed approach. The results exhibit that the proposed approach can perform dual service failure monitoring. This study can increase marketing intelligence for dynamic management of service failure and allow rapid responses to service failures.

Abstract: IoT device market has grown rapidly in recent years, with many researches have been done to investigate the IoT devices’ adoption factors. However, it is crucial to understand how to maintain the users’ continuance intention. This study, based on the post-acceptance model of the Expectation Confirmation Model (ECM), investigates the impact of early-stage users’ personal traits (personal innovativeness), social influence (normative and informational), and familiarity, on the social diffusion of IoT devices (in particular, smart speakers) measured by the continuation intention of smart speakers. We tested the research model and hypotheses using data from 364 smart speaker users, analyzed with partial least square technique using Smart-PLS. The data analysis results revealed that satisfaction has a very strong and positive impact on continuance intention. Perceived usefulness, confirmation, and personal innovativeness are positively associated with continuance intention via satisfaction. Social influence, represented by normative and informational social influence, showed a significant positive impact on continuance intention, a high degree of familiarity weakens the influence of normative social influence on continuance intention; however, familiarity has no impact on the relationship between informational social influence and continuance intention.

Abstract: Career paths are no longer linear or predictable due to the instability and dynamic changes occurring in the work environment. Career researchers have acknowledged this trend and emphasized the significance of individuals’ actual behaviors in career development. Occupational engagement is an essential behavior that leads to successful and satisfactory career development in college students. The current study examined the mediating and moderating roles of work volition in the relationship between social support and occupational engagement. A total of 233 (80 males, 153 females) Korean undergraduates participated in the survey. The results were as follows: Work volition partially mediated the positive relationship between social support and occupational engagement. That is, people who felt they had higher social support reported more work volition, which in turn resulted in more active participation in occupational engagement. Also, the moderation effect of work volition was found between social support and occupational engagement. Thus, the influence of social support on occupational engagement was greater for those with an average or above level of work volition. The results showed that environmental social support and individual work volition are vital factors in improving occupational engagement. The implications and suggestions for practical uses and future research were suggested.

Abstract: This study aimed to validate a Korean-language version of the Work Volition Scale (WVS). Participants were 453 South Korean adults recruited through a survey panel website. In Phase 1 ( n = 230), the original WVS was translated into Korean. Exploratory factor analysis revealed a three-factor solution (volition, financial constraints, and structural constraints), consistent with the original WVS. In Phase 2 ( n = 223), confirmatory factor analysis supported the goodness of fit of the three-factor structure. Convergent validity tests demonstrated that the Korean WVS was positively correlated ( p 〈 .01) with core self-evaluation and work locus of control and negatively correlated ( p 〈 .01) with the intention to quit employment. In a hierarchical regression analysis, controlling for core self-evaluation and work locus of control, work volition positively predicted job satisfaction ( p 〈 .001). The Korean WVS is a valid assessment tool that can be used by career counselors and researchers working with South Korean adults.
